- Finland has spoken! The Rasmus will head to Turin with the song Jezebel.
Together for nearly 30 years now, @TheRasmusOfficial are one of Finland’s most internationally successful groups. Their biggest hit, In the Shadows, has broken the 100 million streaming mark on Spotify, despite being released many years before the streaming platform was even invented.
According to the band, Jezebel is a song for strong, independent women, who blaze their own trail.

@@omrizubary Blind Channel were miles ahead of this. This is just a pop rhythm with guitars and drums, nothing special about it other than that it's The Rasmus playing at the Eurovision. At least Blind Channel brought back some of the nu-metal(-ish) intensity and catchiness, and that scream at the end was awesome and very un-Eurovision.

A legendary rockband. Who doesn't know The Rasmus? I was like 4 years old and already rocking on In the Shadows. This is nostalgic. My number 1 now!
@Merel you was 4 and I just turned 18 when "In the Shadows" was rockin', it's very nostalgic for me. But that's actually a bad point because for me this Eurovision song doesn't stay anywhere near. In my opinion it's fairly weak.
I'm thinking if Finland is sending in an already popular band.. We all should.. 🤣 Italy has Lacuna Coil, Holland has Within Temptation, UK has Muse (among many others but considering Matt has 3 houses including 1 in England and one in LA, they're the most popular) and German ofc Ramstein and OOMPH! among others 🤣

I recall Germany sent in to Eurovision someone who already was a big star, some sort of dance hall music, and they were not successful at all if not to say that it was a big big fail. Let me be a little bit emotional: I listen to The Rasmus since I was a teenager. Those days, I followed a mix between emo and gothic aesthetic and I listened to them and other famous bands. Only for this reason I suffered 7 infernal years of bullying. I'm so happy that they won and they are receiving so much support because is like to say to us: you win to your bullies! I don't know, if it only what I feel, and I know that so many people around the world have sufferd this terrible situation because of the same reasons. SO GUYS, FOR OUR TEENAGER DAYS, WE MUST BE UNITED IN ORDER TO MAKE THEM WINNERS!!!

There is a very wonderful article about the most famous emos during Fotolog era then and now. I left my clothes and my dark hair long ago, but I will always remember those days as an adventure :).

Like I can't explain it but everyone I know who went through that phase, even if we have completely different styles now, we kind of bond over that shared experience no matter where we lived at the time! I read somewhere that Finland has the world's most heavy metal bands per 100,000 inhabitants so me and my friend were hoping they would send a rock/heavy metal band again especially because we both really liked Blind Channel last year.
