      Pokémon would either be A) stand-alone releases on the eShop for Home compatibility, or B) if they can connect Home to NSO, they’d have to release two versions of every game; one with rewinding and save states disabled, and one with them enabled, with trading and Home compatibility only available for the former.

    In the old animal crossing games, you could play real nes games in your house
    What if in the new pokemon games, you could play the old games by purchasing them in the shop. Then you could go visit some crazy guy in his basement to bring your pokemon to life

    The hold up for DK64 is probably related to the ZX Spectrum version of Jetpac being included in the N64 original.

    • @pattersong6637
      @pattersong6637 Před měsícem +5

      I doubt it. Back during the Wii U era Phil Spencer said Microsoft didn't care about the inclusion of Jetpac in Donkey Kong 64. Sure enough it eventually got released on Wii U VC.

      @@pattersong6637 I think he means technically. It's one thing to get a ZX Spectrum emulator working in an N64 game. It's another entirely to get it working in an N64 game, running in an N64 emulator that is infamous as having been one of the worst emulators of the system.

    Just my personal opinion, I don't think it's that deep and Nintendo is just drip feeding games for the sake of the online service and going down a list of potential games. While there are plenty of potential additions from third parties that could happen as for first party Nintendo is starting to run out at least for their home console apps, Game Boy and Game Boy Advance are still missing a lot of Nintendo's own catalog. I also don't believe we will EVER see any mainline Pokémon games on the service, they've had no problem releasing the spin-off games but even if they do include the mainline games they would have to overhaul how the apps work just like how they had to overhaul 3DS Virtual Console to disable restore points. It would honestly make much more sense if they were just individual releases akin to the international release of the Fire Emblem Famicom game. Really the one thing that Nintendo could improve with this service is being transparent with its release schedule, they've actually been on a set schedule to an extent with at least one new update per month but it's a gamble how many games are in said updates.

    Massive gold mine that is old star wars games. The super games from SNES, rouge squadron, shadows of the empire and battle for naboo. The GBA games from THQ could be in rights hell. The idea of an end of life hardware refresh with something added is interesting. I think GameCube is out, the lack of analogue triggers will hurt too many games. Perhaps, we could see NSO controllers in a retail bundle, that retailer Apple therefore expanding the subscription to mobile devices. Also making sense of the update to App Store around emulation.

    • @blueblur98
      @blueblur98 Před měsícem

      I believe SEGA's GBA games are fine, at least - THQ published them in the US, but I believe it's been said before that this wouldn't be an issue in regards to the Sonic games on the platform in particular since SEGA 100% owns the rights to these games. All THQ had was a publishing deal for these particular games. It can be assumed that this also applies to the other GBA titles in series that SEGA owns, such as Puyo Pop GBA. Everything else is kind of up in the air, but I imagine the rights would default to the company that owns the IP.

    Here's a question for you. Do you think we'll get a new Mainline Kirby game within the launch window for Switch 2?
    Considering the last timespan between two mainline Kirby games was four years it might be until 2026 before we get another Kirby game however there's reason to believe that the four year time gap was due to the R&D needed for the jump to 3D platforming. 3D games likely take longer to make than 2D ones but there's a solid change I think that we could see a new Kirby trailer when Nintendo starts to advertise their game lineup for the Switch 2.

    Unrelated but I think it's crazy that you chose to open the video with wing ding OUTDOORS VERSION (indoors would be the "default" version) playing in the background, did you actively choose this tune or did you just grab one randomly from a pool of Nintendo/DK songs?

    I would welcome some Mystery Dungeon Titles. While the Remake of Rescue Team has sold already, why not at least offer team Red. It shouldn't be as high stakes as the mainline games, nor is there an issue with multiplayer aspects, given it is password based.
    Likewise I would welcome Torneko and Shiren in the japanese shops, giving more push to the franchise after the recent release of Shiren 6, with more DLC surely to follow.

    This is something that only makes sense if there's a flowchart on screen at all times. Like how I have to keep track of Embracer.
    Treasure does still exist, but it's a skeleton crew, and is essentially only on Paper so they can sign off on ports of their old games for copyright reasons, and to make sure Nicallis didn't Nicallis the Ikaruga ports. Like Interplay, only less depressing and sad because... well even the fate of skip is less degrading than the current state of Interplay.
    I also think Mario Kart is lame, and Mole Mania is the only Miyamoto directed game that doesn't feature The Devil that matters.
    >I don't know anyone that would buy a top of the line system just to emulate Kirby Air Ride
