      Does anyone know how much of it was improvised? Were they following the songs chord progression? I don't understand how Emmet managed to accompany that on the spot

      @@modakshantanudecades of experience. Also his massive repertoire. Emmet has undoubtedly developed an intuition through much hard work and dedication and most Importsntly: love for the music.

      @@_Snix there is no way parts of it are not rehearsed. The Latin end for example the whole band just knew when the hits would be. Also to be able to flat out improvise a baroque style passage is mind blowingly difficult, especially in sync with the bassist

      @@olliemartinelli4034I don’t think you understand the level of these musicians 😭😭 this rhythm section is definitely my favorite of all time because of the way they can just read each others minds. They’ve played with each other so often that they just know what the other wants to play. My guess is that they’ve just played through certain things so much that they’re able to be like oh last time we did this, we did this groove and that was pretty cool. Trust me I’ve seen it in real time in a masterclass (with other musicians, not emmet) at NOCCA, New Orleans creative center of arts, as I’m a student in the jazz discipline there. Not trying to be rude but i know it’s absolutely amazing and hard to believe

      @@brycereyes7062 I don’t get how the hit at 7:31 could not be pre prepared. Drums, bass and piano all knew it was coming without even looking. As u said maybe it was just practiced once before hand but practice once before hand is preparation isn’t it ? Not just pure spontaneous improv as amazing as that would be

    SO many ‘Jazz singers’ almost completely neglect the ‘singer’ part…which is why Samara Joy has made such an impact! Her body is her instrument,not the microphone….that said WHAT a cOOking version!The band is going OFF!

    This is a good jazz version of this song, but still I wonder if Autumn Leaves is best as a jazzy tune? The earnesty and profound nostalgic feeling in this song can easy be dribbled away in scat song and too many solos. Just a question.

    • @brycereyes7062
      @brycereyes7062 Před 8 měsíci

      Well I think music is music and it’s been played as a jazz standard for a while. Maybe it’s all up to preference. I do agree that this version doesn’t have the same effect as maybe frank sinatra’s version but it gives me a different strong feeling and that’s what I look for in music. To make me feel something

      Autumn Leaves is for everyone: As the chord changes are easy to grasp, improvisation is inviting even for beginners but still, true masters like those musicians and many others have made their unique contributions. Listen to Eva Cassidy's or Bobby McFerrin's versions..
      You can see the world reflected in a pond, it may always be the same pond.
      Feel it - sing it. That simple.

    Can't but admire everyone. Except the vocals. Afraid to sound offencive, but she seems to be a bit vulgar and straight facing guys tender and intelligent improvisation. Emmet is far beyond compare as usual. Imho.
