Mishary Al Afasy
أيا مَن يدّعي الفَـهْـمْ، إلى كمْ يا أخا الوَهْـمْ
تُعبّي الـذّنْـبَ والـذمّ، وتُخْطي الخَطأ الجَـمّ
أمَا بانَ لـكَ الـعـيْبْ، أمَا أنْـذرَكَ الـشّـيبْ
وما في نُصحِـهِ ريْبْ، ولا سمْعُكَ قـدْ صـمّ
أمَا نادَى بكَ الـمـوتْ، أمَا أسْمَعَك الصّـوْتْ
أما تخشَى من الفَـوْتْ، فتَحْـتـاطَ وتـهـتـمْ
فكمْ تسدَرُ في السهْـوْ، وتختالُ من الـزهْـوْ
وتنْصَبُّ إلى الـلّـهـوْ، كأنّ الموتَ مـا عَـمّ
وحَـتّـام تَـجـافـيكْ، وإبْـطـاءُ تـلافـيكْ
طِباعاً جمْعـتْ فـيكْ، عُيوباً شمْلُها انْـضَـمّ
إذا أسخَطْـتَ مـوْلاكْ فَما تقْلَـقُ مـنْ ذاكْ
وإنْ أخفَقت مسـعـاكْ، تلظّيتَ مـنَ الـهـمّ
وإنْ لاحَ لك النّـقـشْ، منَ الأصفَرِ تهـتَـشّ
وإن مرّ بك النّـعـشْ، تغامَـمْـتَ ولا غـمّ
تُعاصي النّاصِحَ البَـرّ، وتعْـتـاصُ وتَـزْوَرّ
وتنْقـادُ لـمَـنْ غَـرّ، ومنْ مانَ ومـنْ نَـمّ
وتسعى في هَوى النّفسْ، وتحْتالُ على الفَـلْـسْ
وتنسَى ظُلمةَ الرّمـسْ، ولا تَـذكُـرُ مـا ثَـمّ
ولوْ لاحظَـكَ الـحـظّ، لما طاحَ بكَ اللّـحْـظْ
ولا كُنتَ إذا الـوَعـظْ ، جَلا الأحزانَ تغْـتَـمّ
ستُذْري الدّمَ لا الدّمْـعْ، إذا عايَنْتَ لا جـمْـعْ
يَقي في عَرصَةِ الجمعْ، ولا خـالَ ولا عــمّ
كأني بـكَ تـنـحـطّ، إلى اللحْدِ وتـنْـغـطّ
وقد أسلمَك الـرّهـطْ، إلى أضيَقَ مـنْ سـمّ
هُناك الجسمُ مـمـدودْ، ليستـأكِـلَـهُ الـدّودْ
إلى أن ينخَرَ الـعـودْ، ويُمسي العظمُ قـد رمّ
ومنْ بـعْـدُ فـلا بُـدّ، منَ العرْضِ إذا اعتُـدّ
صِراطٌ جَـسْـرُهُ مُـدّ، على النارِ لـمَـنْ أمّ
فكمْ من مُرشـدٍ ضـلّ، ومـنْ ذي عِـزةٍ ذَلّ
وكم مـن عـالِـمٍ زلّ، وقال الخطْبُ قد طـمّ
فبادِرْ أيّها الـغُـمْـرْ، لِما يحْلو بـهِ الـمُـرّ
فقد كادَ يهي العُـمـرْ، وما أقلعْـتَ عـن ذمّ
ولا ترْكَنْ إلى الدهـرْ، وإنْ لانَ وإن ســرّ
فتُلْفى كمـنْ أغـتَـرّ، بأفعى تنفُـثُ الـسُـمّ
وخفّضْ منْ تـراقـيكْ فإنّ المـوتَ لاقِـيكْ
وسارٍ فـي تـراقـيكْ وما ينـكُـلُ إنْ هـمّ
وجانِبْ صعَرَ الـخـدّ، إذا ساعـدَكَ الـجـدّ
وزُمّ اللـفْـظَ إنْ نـدّ، فَما أسـعَـدَ مَـنْ زمّ
ونفِّسْ عن أخي البـثّ، وصـدّقْـهُ إذا نــثّ
ورُمّ العـمَـلَ الـرثّ، فقد أفـلـحَ مَـنْ رمّ
ورِشْ مَن ريشُهُ أنحصّ، بما عمّ ومـا خـصّ
ولا تأسَ على النّقـصْ، ولا تحرِصْ على اللَّمّ
وعادِ الخُلُـقَ الـرّذْلْ، وعوّدْ كفّـكَ الـبـذْلْ
ولا تستمِـعِ الـعـذلْ، ونزّهْها عنِ الـضـمّ
وزوّدْ نفسَكَ الـخـيرْ، ودعْ ما يُعقِبُ الضّـيرْ
وهيّئ مركبَ الـسّـيرْ، وخَفْ منْ لُـجّةِ الـيمّ
بِذا أُوصـيك يا صـاحْ، وقد بُحتُ كمَـن باح
فطوبى لـفـتًـى راحْ، بآدابـــيَ يأتَـــم

O you who claim understanding,
How long, O brother of illusion,
Will you persist in sin and blame,
Crossing the line of grave mistakes?
Has the flaw not become clear to you?
Has not the gray hair warned you?
There's no doubt in its advice,
Nor has your hearing become deaf.
Has not death called out to you?
Has not the voice reached you?
Do you not fear missing out,
So you become anxious and worried?
How long will you drift in negligence,
Pride yourself in vanity,
And incline towards frivolity,
As if death has not encompassed?
How long will you alienate,
And delay in mending,
Gathering traits in you,
Flaws that have come together?
When you anger your Lord,
Why are you not disturbed by that?
And if your efforts fail,
You burn with worry.
When you see the glint of gold,
You become delighted,
And when the funeral passes by,
You become gloomy, yet not concerned.
You disobey the righteous advisor,
You resist and visit falsehood,
And follow those who deceive,
Those who boast and gossip.
You pursue the desires of the self,
You scheme for wealth,
Forgetting the darkness of the grave,
Not remembering what lies there.
If fortune had not glanced at you,
You would not have been struck by the moment,
Nor would you, when admonished,
Clear the sorrows and grieve.
You will shed blood, not tears,
When you face the gathering with no assembly,
To shield on the Day of Gathering,
No relative, no uncle.
As if I see you lowered
Into the grave and covered,
And the group has left you
To narrower than a cubit.
There you are, the body stretched out,
For the worms to consume,
Until the wood is bored through,
And the bone becomes decayed.
And after that, inevitably,
You'll be presented, if you transgressed,
A bridge stretched over fire,
For those who were commanded.
How many a guide has gone astray,
And how many a dignified has been humbled,
And how many a scholar has slipped,
And said the calamity has overflowed.
So hasten, O naive one,
To what sweetens the bitter,
For life is about to end,
And you have not ceased from blame.
And do not rely on time,
Even if it softens and delights,
Lest you be like one deceived
By a snake that spits venom.
And lower from your pride,
For death is meeting you,
And it advances in your pride,
And it does not flinch if it intends.
And avoid the scowling of the cheek,
If seriousness aids you,
And control the speech if called,
For how happy is the one who controls.
And relieve your brother of his burden,
And believe him when he expresses,
And discard the worthless deed,
For indeed, successful is the one who aims.
And pluck from your feathers what is general and specific,
And do not grieve over the deficiency,
Nor be eager for the blame,
And return the vile creation,
And let your hand be generous in giving,
And do not listen to the reproach,
And remove it from the gathering,
And equip your soul with goodness,
And leave what results in harm,
And prepare the vessel of travel,
And beware of the sea's depths.
With this, I advise you, O companion,
And I have expressed as one who confesses,
So blessed is the youth who goes
With my manners, he complies.
