Aya man yadda'i al-fahm, ila kam ya akha al-wahm
Tu'abbi al-dhanb wa al-dhamm, wa tukhti al-khata' al-jamm
Ama banan lak al-'ayb, ama andharaka al-sheeb
Wa ma fi nus'hih rayb, wa la sam'uka qad sam
Ama nada bika al-mawt, ama asma'aka al-sawt
Ama takhsha min al-fawt, fatah'taat wa tahtam
Fakam tasdar fi al-sahw, wa takhtalu min al-zahw
Wa tansabbu ila al-lahw, ka'ann al-mawta ma 'am
Wa hattam tajafik, wa ibta'u talafik
Tiba'an jama't fik, 'uyuban shamluha indham
Idha askhat mawlaak fama taqlaq min dhak
Wa in akhfakat mas'ak, talazayta min al-ham
Wa in laha lak al-naqsh, min al-asfar tahtash
Wa in marra bika al-na'ash, taghamamt wa la gham
Tu'aasi al-nasiha al-barr, wa ta'taas wa tazawarr
Wa tanqadu li man ghar, wa man mana wa man nam
Wa tas'aa fi hawa al-nafs, wa tahtalu 'ala al-fals
Wa tansa zulmata al-rams, wa la tadkuru ma tham
Wa law lahadhak al-hadh, lama taaha bika al-lahdh
Wa la kunta idha al-wa'adh, jala al-ahzan taghtam
Satudhri al-dama la al-dam', idha 'ayan la jam'
Yaqi fi 'arsata al-jam', wa la khal wa la 'am
Ka'anni bika tanahat, ila al-lahd wa tanghat
Wa qad aslamak al-rahat, ila adyaqa min sam
Hunak al-jismu mamdud, li yasta'kilahu al-dud
Ila an yankhara al-'ud, wa yumsi al-'azmu qad ram
Wa min ba'du fala bud, min al-'ard idha 'utid
Siratun jasruhu mud, 'ala al-nar li man 'am
Fakam min murshid dall, wa min dhi 'izzatin dhall
Wa kam min 'alim zall, wa qala al-khatbu qad tam
Fabadir ayyuha al-ghumr, lima yahlu bihi al-murr
Faqad kad yahi al-'umr, wa ma aqla'ta 'an dham
Wa la tarkan ila al-dahr, wa in lana wa in sarr
Fatu'lfu kam man agh'tarr, bi af'a tinfuthu al-sum
Wa khaffad min taraqik fa inn al-mawta laqik
Wa sari fi taraqik wa ma yankulu in ham
Wa janib sa'ara al-khad, idha sa'adaka al-jad
Wa zum al-lafdh in nad, fa ma as'ada man zam
Wa naffis 'an akhi al-bath, wa saddiqhu idha nath
Wa rum al-'amala al-rath, faqad aflaha man ram
Wa rish man rayshuhu anhas, bima 'amm wa ma khas
Wa la ta'as 'ala al-naqs, wa la tahris 'ala al-lam
Wa 'adi al-khuluqa al-radhl, wa 'awwid kaffaka al-badhl
Wa la tasma'i al-'adhl, wa nazzhaha 'ani al-dam
Wa zawwid nafsaka al-khayr, wa da' ma yu'qibu al-dayr
Wa hayyi' markaba al-sayr, wa khaf min lujjati al-yam
Bidha uwsiik ya sah, wa qad buhtu kaman bah
Fatuba lifatan rah, bi adabi ya'tam
Wa in laha lak al-naqsh and

I can appreciate the beauty of a xtian cathedral or a ancient pagan temple…. I can appreciate the beauty in statues to saints or iconography, I can appreciate the beauty in a hindu or muslim song/chant etc…. it is ALL based on mythology, but these myths inspired humanity to create some of our best art… and I am honest enough to appreciate the beauty without believing in the mythology.
Do you not think the Notre Dame cathedral, or the sacred songs of the byzantines, or the Parthenon and other ruins of ancient temples are beautiful, even though you do not believe those gods exist?

وزُمّ اللـفْـظَ إنْ نـدّ، فَما أسـعَـدَ مَـنْ زمّ

ورُمّ العـمَـلَ الـرثّ، فقد أفـلـحَ مَـنْ رمّ
ورِشْ مَن ريشُهُ أنحصّ، بما عمّ ومـا خـصّ
ولا تأسَ على النّقـصْ، ولا تحرِصْ على اللَّمّ
وعادِ الخُلُـقَ الـرّذْلْ، وعوّدْ كفّـكَ الـبـذْلْ
ولا تستمِـعِ الـعـذلْ، ونزّهْها عنِ الـضـمّ
وزوّدْ نفسَكَ الـخـيرْ، ودعْ ما يُعقِبُ الضّـيرْ
وهيّئ مركبَ الـسّـيرْ، وخَفْ منْ لُـجّةِ الـيمّ
بِذا أُوصـيك يا صـاحْ، وقد بُحتُ كمَـن باح
فطوبى لـفـتًـى راحْ، بآدابـــيَ يأتَـــم

My favorite Nasheed, very beautiful and carries a even more beautiful flow. Deep meaning, deep understanding, really gets you thinking about it all no matter where you are. Great reminder to humble ourselves and to keep our deen prioritized over the dunya. Alhamdulillah.

يا من يدعي الفهم قصيدة أيا من يدعي الفهم من المقامات المعروفة بمقامات الحريري لمؤلفها محمد الحريري البصري ، وهي تتكون من خمسون مقامة على غرار مقامات بديع الزمان الهمذاني الذي ابتكر هذا الفن ، وهو نوع من القص الأدبي يلتزم مؤلفه بالصنعة فيعتمد على السجع والبديع ، وهذه القصيدة من المقامة السامية . وقد انتشرت تلك القصيدة بعد أن أنشدها الشيخ مشاري العفاسي ، وكلماتها تقول : أيا مَن يدّعي الفَـهْـمْ ... إلى كمْ يا أخا الوَهْـمْ تُعبّي الـذّنْـبَ والـذمّ ... وتُخْطي الخَطأ الجَـمّ أمَا بانَ لـكَ الـعـيْبْ ... أمَا أنْـذرَكَ الـشّـيبْ وما في نُصحِـهِ ريْبْ ... ولا سمْعُكَ قـدْ صـمّ أمَا نادَى بكَ الـمـوتْ ... أمَا أسْمَعَك الصّـوْتْ أما تخشَى من الفَـوْتْ ... فتَحْـتـاطَ وتـهـتـمْ فكمْ تسدَرُ في السهْـوْ ... وتختالُ من الـزهْـوْ وتنْصَبُّ إلى الـلّـهـوْ ... كأنّ الموتَ مـا عَـمّ وحَـتّـام تَـجـافـيكْ ... وإبْـطـاءُ تـلافـيكْ طِباعاً جمْعـتْ فـيكْ ... عُيوباً شمْلُها انْـضَـمّ إذا أسخَطْـتَ مـوْلاكْ ... فَما تقْلَـقُ مـنْ ذاكْ وإنْ أخفَقَ مسـعـاكْ ... تلظّيتَ مـنَ الـهـمّ وإنْ لاحَ لكَ النّـقـشْ ... منَ الأصفَرِ تهـتَـشّ وإن مرّ بك النّـعـشْ ... تغامَـمْـتَ ولا غـمّ تُعاصي النّاصِحَ البَـرّ ... وتعْـتـاصُ وتَـزْوَرّ وتنْقـادُ لـمَـنْ غَـرّ ... ومنْ مانَ ومـنْ نَـمّ وتسعى في هَوى النّفسْ ... وتحْتالُ على
