    We were lucky enough to borrow the KTM 790 Duke for a couple of weeks and during the loan, we spent a lot of time getting to know the bike.     One of the stand out features of the 790 Duke is the LC8 parallel twin engine… it’s brilliant and joined with super light dry weight, the performance is fantastic. So much so, that I thought it might be a fair match for my own Suzuki GSXR 750.
    Clearly, the GSXR 750 won the race and took home the trophy, which to be fair, it should have done with another 45hp than the KTM 790 Duke. However, the race was closer than it probably should have been, with the 790 duke having excellent electronics - launch control - anti-wheelie - traction control. All this allows you to get every single 105hp of the 790 Duke onto the tarmac consistently and efficiently.
    Our test wasn’t measured, but going by the results would have been close to a 1/4mile acceleration test. In terms of 0-60mph the KTM 790 Duke wins most times as the electronics and power delivery make it rapid off the line. 0-100mph is a slightly different story, as the GSXR 750 is catching up here and overtaking and after 100mph, its game over for the 790 Duke.
    An interesting comparison and the conclusion is that both bikes are very fast indeed!

    Totally agree. 6000km on the ktm and it's precise like hell in the twisties (especially with new road attack3). The top speed is an interesting factor on highway and track but this bike is done for mountains and '80km/h' road. A total pleasure. Switch ! 👌

    K8 to LO 750s were my favourite. Had a 2010 model and couldn't fault it. Best sports bike for British roads IMHO 👌

      Hi Pawel, could be 2 reasons for that that I remember. 1. The Duke was due a service soon. 2. We had been doing wheelies and burnouts on it and removed traction and wheelie control and that brings up the spanner icon if I remember correctly. Thanks, Aaron 😁

    I used to have a K8 600 identical to your 750. Sold it and ended up with a 2019 Duke and have absolutly no regrets. I still miss the gixer, and it's better looking, but for all day hooliganism the duke trumps it every time. Keep both and you'll have my ideal garage haha. Cheers

      @@KnoxArmour Its a really great choice. You'll be faster on it through the twisties. Do what I done and try and find a new 19 or 20 model 790. The 890 has a little bit more power but less electronics (like no track mode). The 890 R is not really worth paying the extra if you can save 3.5k with a 790.

      @@TheeMisterspain thanks! Yeah rode them both and they're both great, 890 has the edge tho with suspension package etc for me... although my gsxr is so fast now after the changes I've recently made I don't think anything will leave me now! Lol! 🤣

      @@KnoxArmour well remember there's the 790, 890 and the 890R to make things confusing! R has brembos, adjustable sus etc (but at a premium). Not sure it's worth me upgrading, but a gsxr750 as a second bike...?! 😂 keep up the good gear/vids 👍🏻

    For me it was the choice between the 790 or 2019 636.. rode both and would say the 790 was quicker on public roads and it had more instant punch but I just didn't fall for the looks ! Hence i own the zx6r 636.. in the real world tye 790 is a better bike and easier on my back.. if i had the money id have both 👍

    Had the 1st service been done? I can see the spanner icon on the dash of the 790 - I found with mine, it was MUCH faster after 1st service. Good vid keep it up 🤘

      Hi, thanks for the feedback! It had done a couple of thousand if I remember right. No doubt the 790 Duke is very fast, but against the GSXR750 on a long straight, it holds its own but cant compete with that top end power. Thanks, Aaron Knox.

      @@KnoxArmour I told u bro just unlock it a little bit that 800 cc monster comes alive now its in comfort zone take it out of that zone then u can see how much difference is there thats a parallel twin motor not a v twin its for high revvs only but due to bigger size u got a Extra a torq an advantage

    Naked bikes are just better for the road.power where you need it and upright ergos. sportsbikes need to be wrestled to perform, and for that the track :-)

    Watching it after your review of KTM 890 Duke , and in my opinion 790 Duke looks far better and more premium as 890 Duke in the White paintscheme looks plasticy.

    One of the reason the ktm 790 didn’t win is that it has a parallel twin (two cylinders) where as the gsxr 750 is an inline 4 so it has two extra cylinders which therefore had higher torque which allows for heavier gear ratios which makes it much faster and also aerodynamics play a big part in a race! My point is that the race was not fare since the bikes have about 30bhp difference.

      Yes, but the real point was the the 790 Duke felt really fast and dynamically on the road is incredibly fast and that made me think, I wonder how it compares to my GSXR 750... Thanks, Aaron Knox

      Yes probably but I only have the 750. It was more the point that the 790 Duke felt really fast and therefore put it against that bike to see how it performed. Thanks Aaron Knox

    Just unlock a little bit of those giant inline 2 pistons up to 12000 rpm u won't see a Suzuki 750 anywhere near to duke thats the reality in the same way KTM stock factory settings bike lack behind also

    Dude I don't feel like you are riding the bikes at full potential, coz in a 1/4 mile, how it is possible that a 790 cc bike could only achieve 110 km/hr

    The electronics are so incredible on the Duke that it got beat by a 12 yr old or so suzuki motor design with no electronics. U cant really compare these bikes.
    But Noone ever says the 750 makes great torque but it sure didn't get smoked off the line by the duke.

    Yeah right! conveniently forgot to mention the huge ass wheelie @0:49 and then goes on saying who knew it would be so close??? huh??? How about try doing it right? Of course wheelie control helps but People have been riding without wheelie control for ages and YES it can be done without it! That Suzuki would tear that KTM a new one! Get your facts straight and do it right least! You sure its not an advert of sorts for this KTM??

      There were several runs, including ones where the Suzuki got a decent launch instead of a big wheelie. How convenient that you only mention the first race...
