1.Troy is still police chief in Stilwater(as far as i know) it was mentioned in the beginning of sr3
2.Dex is assasinated in the unreleased Saints Row: Money Shot after fleeing Stilwater by an assassin that works for Ultor(check the wiki)
3. Gat was killed in sr3 and is coming back in sr4
So i hardly see how they didn't finish what they start and I love the way the game has gone

Actually it was stated by either THQ or Volition that this was meant to be a DLC for SR3, but they changed it to become a full on sequel. Back in my day, we would call this more of an expansion pack, than a full sequel.
I don't understand why people are immediately hating. They have only seen a tiny portion of Saints Row 4 and it looks awesome imo.
Those guys who say "this is not saints row anymore" and other rude things are 98% guys who watched xFL1PPYx or/and never heard about saints row befor the third.
You cant know what "true gaming " is. Gaming is playing a game that is meant to be played. Period.
It wasn't "meant" to be crazy, It was MEANT to be a gang styled open world game, but since people complained it was a GTA clone, the developers took it to personal and decided to change it, and that- was the worst decision they have ever made.
I love how the boss was dancing around in the back after the activity was completed
There are things i would really like them to improve from SR3.
Let us replay all the main mission after the game is beaten (meaning actually let us choose which mission we want to play, instead of starting the whole freaking new game again)
Online matchmaking let us filter some search instead of just quick match (especially let you choose to search for people with cheat or no cheat)
Since there is superpower now, more melee weapon and more animation of melee attack would be nice

Definitely going to get this for my PlayStation 3 I loved Saint's Row The Third and I can't wait to get this one. Saint's Row IV look's so fun to play.

I loved SR3, finished it twice in co-op. Can't wait to play this one!

There is a difference between Default and customization. Even in the customization part the default that you can customize, is white not black.
You know, there are so many Saints Row fans that were disappointed when Saints Row: The Third came out. And now they're even more disappointed with Saints Row 4 because of the direction it's taking the series in. The first Saints Row game I played was Saints Row 2. I loved it, it was absolutely amazing. When I played Saints Row: The Third, I was disappointed that some features were taken out, but I didn't let that spoil the fun I had. People need to not take this so seriously, and just have fun.
Saint's Row 2 will always be the the best in the series for me. It was all style and no substance after that. I'd love to see the series go back to it's roots.
Here is part of the problem I see with this game.
He got into a car twice in this clip, but he can run faster and can fly.
So cars become virtually meaningless.
No, its about the Saints, the sillines is a side plate to add flavour.

I meant customization wise. I loved making my own characters in SR2 and even SR1. SR3 was a serious let down in those terms. And considering the fact that it hasn't really been a long time since SR3 - not long enough for them to add layers and further customization options to the engine. This is most likely going to be the same thing. Plus, I heard some Volition guys on the forums saying that you can import your guy exactly how he was from SR3. Doesn't hold much promise for customization....
No, originally SR4 was supposed to be but due to THQ going down they decided to release it as its own game.
They Brought Back the Varsity Pickup Truck From Saints Row 2 into Saints Row 4
In Saints Row 1 and 2 they were still in the same place. Don't expect them to change places every game.
You're acting like only one game is entitled to have a gangster element? Just because someone has a same idea doesn't mean they've copied, Saints Row is unique in its own way and so is GTA . Which is the whole point of gaming, to have a variety which will appeal to all sorts of customers.
To the real saints row fans,This game takes place 5 years after saints row the third & during the professor genki's mind over murder activity did anyone else hear the announcers say "The worlds biggest bad-ass was locked away years ago!" possibly Johnny Gat...I don't know for sure just putting that out there.
i dont think a franchise has ever changed its path more than Saints Row 1 vs SR4. They are completely different games
For those people who are saying sr4 and sr3 have the same map while if you remember sr1 and sr2 had same map what your complaint.

It's quite ironic how we who preferred Saint's Row 1 and 2's style of play resemble Johnny Gat's state of mind that the Saints were becoming too commercialised.
Different games have different feels and purposes. GTA5 is supposed to give a more traditional realistic criminal experience, while saints row 3 and 4 gives more of a fun be yourself crazy feel. Both games are awesome, it's just that they express the same genre which they are differently for specific gameplay purposes and experiences.
I really don't understand why people hate on this game because it looks the same, Call of Duty hasn't looked different since 3!

Yeah, I can't wait either. I have been a long time Saints Row fan. A lot of the other long time fans however, say the series has died and is not coming back. I loved sr3 maybe not as much as 1 or 2, but it was awesome. I really look forward to Saints Row 4. All of those other people that say the series is dead need to chill the fuck out.
True. I still memorized some of the places and roads in the video. Exploring this wouldn't be fun.
they should have just kept it as Saints 3 Dlc or expansion pack and made saints 4 completely different, it does look all kinds of fun no one can deny that.
Actually, i think it is mostly dark IN THE BEGINNING. Something to do with the Zim oppression and trying to break the saints. Eventually you gain control over the Day/Night cycle.

well no, violition had bought out the saints row series, and added more items to the original dlc item for SR3 that was canceled due to THQ closing, and decided to launch it as an entire game. This could mean anything, really.
I heard that SR4 is originally a DLC for SR3, but they cancelled it and decided to make a whole new game

I love how people are getting mad over how saints row is getting away from the gang aspect basically what u are saying is that u want each and every game one of the saints row games to have the same goal to have the same aspect to pretty much have the same game over and over

* Actually if you played the expansion in the 2nd game you kicked him out of Stilwater with a threat if he came back he is dead. I will still get the game just out of series fandom but I am a little mad that the game is located in Steelport and not D.C.
* The Director that took over after the previous one was fired for the making of SR3. It is a game series that has to work with what is given it can't immediately go back to the way people liked in the 2nd game.
Like SR2 was to SR and SR2 was by far the best in the series.
We don't know at this point but I'm hopeful.
The demo pretty much made the player a god. On the legit game, before you upgrade anything, your super power 'energy' apparently runs out fairly quick. It'll most likely be like SR:TT where you have to buy upgrades for unlimited ammo, health, and in this case super power shit.

Saints Row 1 & 2 were more of a GTA gang type of game. But Saints Row 3 went crazy. Personally I like 3 better than 1 & 2, but I know a lot of people don't feel the same. So, if you want a gang game go buy GTA or SR1 or 2, but if you want a chaotic and fun game buy SR3 or 4
Why the hell are people hating on this game? People this game is for fun. This games is made Volition and SR went from a GTA clone to it's own game. That's what it is now it's own god damn game. So if you don't like this game leave why are you here?
IDK why everyone mentions Prototype.. This is more like Saints Row 3 + Crackdown. I just want the old gameplay style back, SR and SR2 but with a new story line and updated graphics to keep in line with the market competition. That would be great.
I love Saints Row and GTA both for different reasons. BUT... your reasons have to make sense.
1. The name Grand Theft Auto does make sense. I don't know how it couldn't relate to the actions you do.
2. Just because GTA has different protagonists for each game, doesn't mean that it doesn't have a storyline.
3. GTA has plenty of humor. Try the cheat codes and easter eggs. Not to mention the hilarious commercials both on TV and radio.
4. Last time I checked creativity and originality was a positive

Apart from the fact I'm not a teenager, I never said anything originality (this is Saints Row we're talking about), super powers haven't been in a vanilla SR game, and the fact that I've never seen a Super Soaker in a game before, I'd agree with you. Just because you didn't agree with what I said doesn't mean you have to be an offensive git about it

And a 'vanilla' game is a plain game, ie not including DLC, so when I said 'super powers haven't been in a vanilla SR' I meant NOT in DLC. Obviously you didn't know that, but instead of asking like an intelligent person (or googling it) you start ranting about how a small number of 'super' powers were in a DLC
Are they going to release a demo where you get to play the game and not the one where you only get to customize your character?
The powers in this game seem very similar to those you have in Prototype 2. Mostly the super speed and gliding.
this game has all the things a gamer would ask for, but it doesnt have the most important thing, the touch of magic that SR 2 had... dont get me wrong, its a great game and i would totally buy it

yes I know you can, did you know you don't need to customize your character and use something known as a default character? I'm not talking about customization I am talking about the switch of the main default characters in all the games.
WOW this is a really well done mod for Saints Row 3.
Same map, same engine, same effects, just a few new character models and the superpowers. It's pretty clear that this was initially going to be a DLC, pretty much everything you see here can fit into a standard DLC these days.
Because it was originally developed as an expansion.
I wish they would have showed some clothes shopping maybe a hint of what to expect clothes customization wise.
I think it was a really dumb idea to add super speed and super flight because it basically eliminates the use of cars, jets, planes, and helicopters.
That's because the was a whole new game, this is a sequel and should be expected to look better and play better which for the most part it fails to do so we have a right to judge on its lack of improvment

I know that, but remember in the first game how the default character in the first cutscene was white, then in the second game he was black I was just wondering why Volition did that, but I know about character customization
