- I was in search for the Old abandoned bridge I filmed and lost footage of many years ago !!.. in the Wied il-Ghasel which is a picturesque valley in Mosta that makes part of one long valley (wied) reaching a length of about 14.4 km and forms an important link in Malta's second largest water catchment. The valley takes its name from the wayside chapel erected there in 1760, while the latter derives its name from the honey, which, according to a common belief, was so abundant in the past. According to folklore, the numerous bees used to produce so much honey in their hives situated in the cracks of the rocks that, at points, these over-spilled and honey trickled out all along this valley.

Thank you so much for these videos Steve. I've been visiting Malta very regularly since the mid 70's and there are some very interesting places that you go to that I've never seen before! We're moving over permanently as soon as it's practical so I'll have plenty of time to explore!
I Am sure you will enjoy Malta ..Plenty to see and do !!
Nice video, was worth waiting for the bridge many thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching peter ....and thanks for your comments
I love to hear the birds singing and the sound of nature 🕊 Never understand people who walk in these beautiful places with their headphones in 🤷🏼♀️ Also, Parazone is bleach! 😂 Did you maybe mean Steradent? 🤭
Agree ...you never met my grandad ....lol 😂 ...of course Thank you for the correction ...just testing you if you were listening....well done xx
Hi Steve, you always seem to be the only person on the Island :) nice area for a walk. Those walls Hajt tal-sejjieh are a win win for the Island, just look around rocks everywhere FREE 😁 and they also stop land erosion plus they look fantastic. Steve you do know that the snakes in Malta are harmless 😇 cheers
Hey Charlie , we we have plenty of rock everywhere..just kidding about the snakes, but I have spotted some big ones over B'bugia way !
Beautiful area..
It really is Zey full of history

Interesting facts
Walk back safely 🤗 take it easy 🥰

It is a lovely walk quite and you don’t need your mask 😷 on
Really I should have a mask on always outside ...But It's a crazy law ??
We don’t wear it outside but in stores but there are people wearing it outside. I can’t stand it on my face too for too long 😠

The Victoria Lines masonry bridge across Wied il-Ghasel. In the early 1900s but it is documented that the bridge was still largely intact before the 25th October 1979 storm.
Oh ok Twanny ..I heard the foundations was roman ..Also that was part of the victoria lines ?? Thanks for the info
Oh almost forget this video .😀 lovely place ...lovely walk with 🎶🎵🤗. Take care walk always x
Glad you enjoyed it, maybe busy today ? No worries !!
I really enjoy this sort of thing, wandering along little footpaths to see where you end up. I know you found the bridges you were looking for but it wouldn't have mattered if you hadn't. It was a clear and sunny day to see the plant life along in the valley. Great Steve, thank you.
Yes This is so true ..I could have walked more Never been passed that bridge
Malta has lots of hidden gems thanks to steve we can see areas we would maybe never see when on holiday in malta. Lovely peaceful area.

Hi Steve. Just found & watched the song you played on vlog, on CZcams : "L-ahhar bidwi f'wied il-ghasel" by Vic Smith 🎶 . Never heard this version before - what a beautiful voice your mate's got 👏. The guitarist Vince Pulo🎸 is good as well. Uploaded 11 years ago. Thank you Steve.
Cheers 👍 🇲🇹 ♥ 🇪🇺 ©.
Wow, thank you yes he has and there are some other ones of hes ..Shame he does not play anymore but we had good fun when he was in Malta
The remains are of a bridge which is old but not that ancient. It was part of the Victoria Lines built by the British between 1895 and 1899. The bridge was destroyed (except for the supporting arches) in a very violent storm in October 1979 when the valley was transformed into a rapidly flowing river.
Yes I was told after I did the video ..But I also heard it was on older foundations of older bridge ...No idea, But Victoria lines would fit !!
love the videos man, keep up the good job. Hope you're doing well. :)
Doing good!! Thanks, more on the way

Hello Steve, thanks again for showing us down there, I never been down there, but I looked at it from the top, I'm sure I have seen those high arches from the plane too before, sad about it's history, we have a place down here in the south of England known for that kind of thing called Beachy Head, anyway it reminded me a little bit of the old cowboys films, a mini grand canyon heheheeee, bye Steve see you soon.
Thanks 👍it's an easy walk try it one day !!
Another great walk Steve, quite a lot of history there too . Loads of `Wied Weeds` to view as well , those damned Brambles grow on every continent apart from Antarctica .
Lots in that valley and surrounding area
Enjoy that Steve, I still haven't been to the Chapel next, thank you for sharing
Take care

Great nature walk video Steve, I hope to remember this one the next time we visit Malta.
You should! Peter it's awesome
We use to eat those purple flowers when we were little
Oh Yes and what happened ?? you turn purple
Hi Antoinette. Those flowers are called "Fidloqqom". When boiled, the 'tea' with a tbs of honey is good for sore throat. Our Mum used to & it works 🍵 🍯 . Sahha.
Cheers 👍 🇲🇹 ♥ 🇪🇺 ©.
Hi there, If you are interested? In Zebbieh they seem to have found something of interest . On the Mosta to Mgarr Road, as you round the bend heading towards Mgarr village, there is a convenience shop which is popular so you cant miss it. Across the main road in front of the store and in between some older properties and a new apartment building they have started to uncover some strange objects and a well with other features dotted around. They are working carefully with small tools and brushes and my best friend, a Maltese man, says that it looks Stone Age and there seems to be some type of alter which is going to cause havoc if they built the apartment without informing the Heritage Dept and it continues underneath it 😮😪. I have been watching all this from my veranda . It's just below me. If you went week day you might find the archaeologist for some info. It's. fascinating ! Just thought I would let you know. Take care and love the videos 💗
That's really interesting Annette! I must look up some more information about it. I hope they do inform the relevant authorities, but...who knows, the developers will maybe want to keep it as quiet as possible ?!
Hey Thanks Annette , Thanks so much Ill go over and take a look soon ..
It forms part of the Victoria Lines - a Britsh military wall
Thanks for the info Agnes , I heard that was some kind of Roman foundation of a bridge over there ??
Amazing adventure, but how do you get back to your car? There is so much more to Malta than the tourist areas.Dont you ever get lost? Enjoyed it thanks.😊😊👍

It is part of the Victoria Lines. As far as I know it was destroyed due to the floods of October 1979.
