PS4 Pro:
1800p at 30fps (reconstructed resolution & unlocked framerate)
43,64Gb
PS5:
2160p at 30fps (unlocked framerate)
1620p at 60fps (common resolution)
44,80Gb
- All versions have the release patch applied.
- PS5 has greater draw distance, anisotropic filtering, texture quality, shadows and vegetation, but it is clear that it is a game mainly developed for Oldgen.
- PS5 extra vegetation looks worse by pop-in.
- Draw distance for PS4/Pro is too low on some assets.
- PS4 suffers from quite a few stuttering issues, which are less prevalent in closed environments.
- PS4 Pro and PS5 in quality mode should give option to lock framerate to 30FPS.
- Shorter loading times on PS5. In general, they have been slightly improved since the beta on all platforms.
- If we run the PS4 game on PS5, we get a perfect framerate at 1800p (with temporary reconstruction) sacrificing the graphical improvements offered by the native PS5 version.
- Elden Ring's performance is hampered by a graphics engine that has never stood out for its optimization. FromSoftware should think about renewing. - Hry

Saludos

Basically, for PS4 owners, it’ll be like playing Bloodborne again - flawless gameplay with some hiccups in performance
That's fine by me, i was playing bloodborne yesterday and to me that game asides from a moment here and there runs pretty smooth.
Well except bloodborne doesnt tank half as much and the blur implemented in bloodborne REALLY helps with the pacing
That's hella good then
Bloodborne frametime was beyond horrible tho, it wasn't really smooth.
except bloodborne had a permanent framerate pacing issue that was never fixed (imo worse)
Mind boggling how a company can create masterpiece after masterpiece, but fails terribly at optimization...
Its definitely disheartening. I love FromSoft games so much... but damn, when the performance mode on a PS5 or XSX can't nail 60 fps consistently... and it spends a lot of time in the low 50's or high 40's... that isn't great, for these sorta games.
Lets hope FromSoft keeps working diligently on this and somehow, someway finds a way.
they can't let go of the Phyre Engine for some reason.
don't worry this is just a set up to when the ps5 pro comes out.
@@NepaliGamer nobody has a PS5 yet though
All they have to do is lower the resolution a bit and bam 60fps. They just don't care.
I'm on a PS4 Pro and honestly shocked at how good it runs and looks. Sucks to say it's shocking to have a stable game on release nowadays, but Elden Ring has exceeded my expectations. 20 hours in, hundreds more to come! Possibility of being my favorite game ever. Blown away!

@@OctaviusAu Awesome! It's solid on the Pro. Few very minor frame drops, but overall really solid. You can tell they prioritized PlayStation, since FromSoftware has made exclusives with them in the past. It also looks amazing on the Pro. Not quite 4k, but 1800p still looks fantastic!
@@sle2979 People will always judge lmfao. Christ there's people out there who have beaten the game, I thought under 30 hours was reasonable, especially for how much of a masterpiece this game is!! Haha
People with a PS5: What a disappointment....
People with a PS4: This game looks and runs amazingly!!!
I have a Pro and think Elden Ring looks like a PS3 game
So I put 20 hrs in on ps5 with the native ps5 app and it’s unbearable how bad the frame dropping and stuttering is.. however today I installed the PS4 app version on my ps5 and it’s flawless. I mean totally locked 60 FPS with no noticeable drawback other than a lower resolution (which I could care less about) so in my opinion if your on ps5 just play the PS4 version and your golden 👍🏻

Dark Souls Remaster also looks amazing, as it should.
Great game but it has dated graphics.. Denying that it just delusion based on biased
Japanese devs love to make great games with the most questionable performance possible. And that's not counting anything they release on PC.
There are constant frame rate drops, bad draw distances and texture pop in on the ps5 version. Suprised none of these reviews mentioned how bad the performance was. Nope, just give it a stright 10

@@MrVoland44 With all these issues, how the hell did it get a ten. From Software is known for bad PC ports, so I wonder how it runs over there. Played it on PS5 and it just felt terrible to play considering how every other game I've played was a constant 60fps. There is no excuse for a tripple A game that has worse graphics than Denon Souls and looks like a last gen game to run this bad
PS4 Regular is how I see the rl world anyway. I dont see things in detail more then 2 meters away, unlike I used to. so this is more immersive :P
Yeah I’m definitely doing backwards PS4 on PS5 version. Having a smooth 60 fps is amazing and the difference in foliage, loading times and shadows is a worthy trade off.
And it will load faster on PS5 (the ps4 version I mean). Would love to see some tests, see how close it gets.
@Lov Mir ghost of tsushima on base ps4 has awful frame rate. Never runs at a locked 30 fps. When action ramps up fps is between 25 to 27 fps. Ps4 pro gets a locked 30 fps only when u play it at 1080p.
@@parabolee It is not going to load that much faster, maybe 1 or 2 seconds if that. The PS4 game is not optimized to take advantage of the SSD in the PS5.
Did you notice same loading times in the ps4 app in comparison with the ps5 app? That's my only concern about playing backwards compatibility, the loading times I played on the ps5 version app is instant and that's game changer in this game where you die a lot.
I’m with you I’m playing the ps4 version on my ps5 way smoother can’t stand below 60fps
Amazing comparison, It’s clear the best way to enjoy Elden Ring is wit a PS4 Pro or the Backward PS4 version on a PS5. Thank you!
PS4 Pro never ceases to amaze me. What a fcking titan of a console. I cant wait until the PS5 goes fully all out with the exclusives. No cross-gen holding it back.
I dont see a big difference .when youre in the game, ps4,pro,or ps5,hard too see difference
The ps4 pro was one of the best purchases i ever made.
Its 2022 and i see absolutely no reason to upgrade.
Swap out your Mech hard drive for a SSD well worth it for the load times.
It is well known that, for the masterpieces of game design that From Soft always presents, they are not geniuses in the technical level. Still, it is amazing how well this game runs on the PS4
It's kind of funny how the only way to get locked 60fps on any console is to run the PS4 version on PS5, they really left a lot to be desired in the optimization on PS5 and Series X.
That’s from software for you. Their fatal flaw has always been optimization. I still have nightmares of OG dark souls blightown framerate and the problems Bloodborne had.
@@mooregh6501 What about that old shitty combat system, even old ass Dragon's Dogma has better melee combat system. This game is still using Demon Souls exact same combat system, except now you can clip through objects, no kinematics or object based impacts.

The PS4 looks surprisingly good considering the age of the hardware, the PS4 Pro is also very good, it has higher resolution and slightly better graphics, but I think it would be better if they locked the frame-rate to 30fps instead of leaving it at that. .
PS5 is by far the best version, but older console versions are surprisingly good, I confess I was worried about how the base PS4 would work after seeing the size of the PC's minimum requirements.
That's what I'm saying. PS4 still looks really good after all these years.
That's a stupid idea because then you can't play in 60 on ps5 if they lock it to 30. Do you people even think before you post?

From 3:48 onward you can see a weird shaking on the framerate mode for PS5 (right). I get that in quite a few places when I stand still too and it sucks. It hasn't been patched until this day. The only "fix" is using quality mode. How fucked up is the dynamic resolution scaling that something like this happens?

I still think Dark Souls 3 looks really good to this day, I played it on the PS5, 1080p 60fps locked. So Elden Ring 1800p 60fps locked is more than enough for me!

Looks sick on both consoles. I noticed that they didn't utilize ray tracing that much even on the PS5. It's good though. Sometimes there isn't always going to be reflections in every environment. I can see they went for a more misty foggy grey type of environment. You ain't gonna get that many reflections in those type of environments in real life. Period. Surprisingly the PS4 holds up.

This comparison just shows how great a machine the PS4 is to hold up like this 9 years later. PS5 is obviously better but the 4 is still quality.
Me pregunto qué Engine usarán.
Wow!!! The differences are incredible....ly unnoticeable. The PS4 is blurry as heck because of it's super low resolution. But the PS4 PRO and PS5 don't have enough differences.
But that is because most titles that are available for PS5 were originally designed on the PS4.
So it's basically a last gen game with extra fps and faster loading times.
Nothing wrong with that but this is why people were underwhelmed by lack of next gen visuals when we first saw the gameplay.
But obviously FS have made an amazing game and had to develop with the current/last gen in mind.
Think about, it, this period is the worse time for the gaming industrie. There is so many version to release and make it stable because of the cross gen, twice the work and really hard. Think about CDPR, they did not have any experience with cross Gen and they did a complete mess with CyberPunk.

Should i play this game now on my old ps4 or wait till i get a gamer pc and crank everything to the max to get the full experience ?,
Maybe it's my aging eyes, but the difference between PS4 pro and PS5 are imperceptible. Games do tend to load faster with the SSD I installed too. No where near a PS5, but noticeably faster than before. Guess next gen is still slow to start.
yes i expect graphics like demon souls
No, you’re right. The people that claim to see a difference in graphics are lying. Everyone is shitting their pants over PS5 graphics have already had them for years. And yes, I have a PS5. We are seeing incredibly diminishing returns on graphics. When the PS6 releases in 10+ years, it will likely look nearly identical to the PS4 unless some sort of breakthrough is made.
The frame rate makes a huge difference, but the resolution does not.

Imagine the next Souls game by FromSoftware, it will be next gen only. The graphics will be amazing! no more limitations from old gen from 2013
All the pro needs is a damn fps cap at 30. Or for them to reduce the resolution to 1080p on pro and 900p on base. And something has to be done about the foliage and enemy models making the game tank when looked at really close
Hopefully From bring the same graphics mode that PS4 is running in to PS5 so we can get that locked 60 we get playing it BC along with the PS5 load times.
PS5 users: what are your brightness and saturation settings set to for the in-game display settings? I'm currently running on quality mode and default settings but sometimes I feel like it's a bit too bright. I haven't found that sweet spot yet after messing around with the sliders.
Why didn't From Software lock the resolution on performance mode at 1440p also? It's just stupid!
Ps5 doesn't support 1440p
@@nathanpickering6742 kkkkk mt burro
@@nathanpickering6742 control ultimate edition have 1440p
@@albertoortega6802 yeah but on the ps5 it doesn't natively support 1440p.
@@nathanpickering6742 It still can run 1440p internally. Just your tv or monitor won't display that resolution.
Why on earth didn't they just reduce resolution and/or graphical effects on PS5 to get a smooth 60fps? It's like Fromsoftware enjoy punishing us just for fun...
Yeah idk why. They should’ve had like three modes. Instead I’ll be playing the PS4 version it seems and transferring my save if it gets fixed.
Finally a European channel that is the best on CZcams about something. Go Spain, cheers from Italy.
Is the performance the same on ps4 pro with 1080p resolution ?
All looks the same in 144p
Xbox One 25 fps 900p? PS4 26-27 fps 1080p? 😤😤 And this value Is 10/10? 😤
Runs crap on every machine best next gen version is on series x with VRR. Or most stable PS4 pro version on ps5 LOL. This game sucks
@@lordmaster2562 now now fanboy I wouldn't go round saying the game sucks it's the only game you xbox fanboys have to play 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fps instavel não diminui a qualidade do jogo, bloodborne é 10/10 e é cheio deles.
I have a ps4 and for what I saw it looked good enough for me.
👍
is it worth upgrading from ps4 base to pro just to play this game on a 4k tv?
To be honest, I play the game on my Series X with VRR and it feels smooth enough, thanks to that technology. Didn't pick the PS5 version because I don't want to miss out several fidelity features (don't get me wrong, ER looks totally ok on PS4). Fromsoft needs to rework their engine and Sony needs to bring VRR to their console!!
I got it on ps4 pro, love it. Looking at this it seems like it's the most optimized version, given the hardware it's running on.
The ps5 framerate problems are kind of bad given how *not* graphically intense this game is and how good the ps5 specs are. And you could say the same for the base ps4
they should do 40fps on a 120hz display like ratchet and clank, at least include such a mode since it hangs around that range besides a 30fps capped one and such
Trying to make a soft you hear in your head co to life might be the hardest part starting out but I guess that requires so solid
I love my Ps4 pro❤️
Difícil superar a Horizon 😂😂

I didn't even expect that Elden Ring had an available to buy Disc for the PS4. I bought it right off the bat.
One commentor on here compared to playing it like they were playing Bloodborne. I can already see why. :)
But, the game looks exciting and I think I'm going to have a fun time. Thankfully this also means I didn't and don't have to waste any money on getting a PS5 for this game, and all the better.
The best way to play it is, buy the ps4 version and play it on the ps5 and you will have 60fps.
