That's not a bad thing, and the speech at the end is very nice, but the movie as a whole is more of a romp through Paris of the 1920s with "cameos" of writers and artists that we'd all love to meet. The little glimpse of Josephine Baker is a perfect example of that. Pure excitement and lots of fun, but not particularly profound. Then again, who wouldn't love to walk into a bar and see her chatting with the guests?
