IT DOES GROW BACK!!!! Hi Dr. Berry. Thanks for your video, it helped me when I was losing my hair and when wth!! It freaked me out for sure and I did not have that much weight to lose. I never lost that much hair in my life. The hair loss started maybe month 3 and ended month 6 of being carnivore. I got to one of Dr. Chaffee Q&A sessions and he suggested to be patient, that my hair will grow back.
So, if you are reading this and you are worried like I was, be patient. It truly grows back.
Now, to the part I was not expecting: My hair is growing back dark brown, my natural color. My head was fully white, and now the new hair growing brown and whites are turning brown little by little! Yeah!

Been keto for 2 years. Lost a lot of hair and thought for sure it was not coming back but being skinny and healthy was more important to me so I hung in there . Started praying for God to please let my hair return, must give God credit here too , but low and behold it came back! It has taken a long time about 2 years but it's definitely returning. I now have a BUNCH of new hairs about 2in long that have emerged, literally filling a bald spot.

I feel great and am ashamed to tell my friends, my age or younger how healthy I am as they are all on walkers, canes or suffering one surgery or health problems, etc. One strange thing I noticed lately is that my hair, once pure white is now a silver or pewter color as all of the new hair coming in is black! I didn't think hair color could reverse with age. Oh, and did I mention that I am 87 years of age! This seems a strange phenomenon of Keto living; have you had any similar rep0rts? I am so glad that I found your channel on CZcams. I want to thank you so much for all the time that you take making these videos. I only wish I lived in your “neck-of the woods” so that I could be a patient of yours. I began my first hair loss with the birth of my first child. My hair loss then began to happen whenever I began a diet. Years later I started a diet at which time my hair loss was greater. I talked to my family physician and he referred me to a dermatologist. He told me that it was due to my diet but stated that it would come back. But the dermatologist did not go into the detail that you just explained. At my next family physician appointment his explanation was I could be fat and have hair or be skinny and bald. Of course I did not I did not want to be bald so I gained my weight back and then some. At this point I began to have health issues due to being overweight. My doctor promoted Weight Watchers. I knew I could loose the weight but put it off until I came across your channel. I started eating Keto and now have lost 62#. I am healthier and feel amazing. So thank you again for giving us great information and explaining it all to us. Complete information enables us to understand so that we can become healthier and continue to keep it off. God bless you!

I am 7 months in on my keto journey. I have experienced a LOT of hair loss in the front cap of my head and a general thinning all over. (Thankfully I have thick wavy/curly hair) I do notice that it seemed to happen when I started IF. (Because of a weight stall.) It brings me a lot of stress which I know doesn't help, and I am on a ton of medications, so theirs that. BUT, I have lost 90lbs so far and I am loving, loving keto!!! (Still have a long journey) I told my husband, look I may go bald, but I honestly do not want to stop this way of life and all the progress I made. He said he will shave his head.

We as a country have been under a an inordinate amount of stress over the last year, we have suffered under the Covid-19 health pandemic, as well as the political unrest. Many of us have lost our employment, our homes, our cars, etc... however, one of the positive things to come out of all of this is that we have had time to focus on our friends and family and ourselves, I've used this time 2 begin the keto lifestyle and have lost close to 50 lb and also reversed my type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure without the use of any medications. I thank you for the message today Dr. Berry, that this will more than likely be a temporary situation. Temporary may be different for each of us, given our individual situations and stress levels. But in all honesty, if the worst were to happen and I went bald, I would be much happier with that, than being severely unhealthy and grossly overweight for the rest of my life, which would probably have been a much shorter one.😬👍

I did lose some hair in the first year, but the cool thing was my hair texture was so improved. My hair was dry and coarse. Now it actually gets oily at times and it's so much softer. Plus I see the baby hairs coming back. Alright with all of that I am also 67. My hair had been going white, the hair coming back has color. Not my youngest best color, but it isn't white. Hey, at 67 none of this was anything I expected. No one had mentioned the hair loss, certainly not a change in texture or color or any of that.. I got into keto for the health benefits and haven't been disappointed. The weight loss hasn't been fast for me, but I am losing and I feel better. The rest of it is just the rest of it.

I ws on Keto before most people knew what it was. My sister-in-law had great success with Keto so I decided to try it. My husband and I were diligent in following the keto protocol. We even belonged to a menu/recipe service for keto. After 10 months, I had lost 12 pounds and my hair was falling out. My hair dresser was shocked and said I should see a doctor. I don't think a 12 pound loss is that large, and yet I experienced significant hair loss.
It took a few more years before I was diagnosed with lipolymphedema which explains the low wait loss.

I started carnivore almost a month ago and it has been nearly magical for me in so, so many ways, but even after increasing my intake (2300-2500calories/day, 80% fat/20% protein) my hair has been getting thinner and thinner. I am GOING TO STAY THE COURSE because NO WAY am I sacrificing ALL the benefits I’ve been feeling so I don’t have to wear a wig someday soon (God please forbid) 😢 but it’s been so heart-wrenching to see the hair losses I’m having 😩 especially since my whole body has been on fire for years but my hair was always the seemingly healthiest thing about me, my only physical attribute I felt confident in.

Most people don't take the RDA of potassium (4700 g) before starting Keto. On Keto, you cut out the high potassium foods such as potatoes (french fries) and bananas. If you don't eat enough vegetables containing potassium, hair loss can happen. If you're on Keto, you absolutely need to watch your intake of electrolytes, especially if you're also taking a diuretic, aka water pills.
Don't take a potassium pill, you need to take a balanced electrolytes supplement.
If each hair strand is becoming very thin, you need to eat more protein.

Wish I had known of a healthier way to eat to avoid the weight gain to begin with so I didn’t have to deal with the hair loss and other side effects in taking it off. I now tell my friends not to put off losing the pounds through healthy eating; do it now while you are younger and before gaining more weight- lose it now before future stress events.
I am still losing on KETO and OMAD, 26% loss in six months at 70, probably 5-10 lbs more to go. I lost hair when I did the HCG Diet about ten years ago; but more so now losing most of that weight again. I have the added stress this time of losing my son, brother and mother in the last couple years.
This is the BEST explanation I have heard. Thank you so much, Doctor. I am trying not to panic; 30% or more loss. I have now upped my protein and supplements; hopefully it will let up soon.

I'm eating about 200gr of protein a day, so, even tho I'm not losing weight, is hair loss normal? Most people say that it's a transition because your body no longer uses glucose and can last about 3 months, I hope it is, I've seen testimonies of people saying that their hair grow thicker and faster with carnivore, I hope that's the case with me in 3 months!
UPDATE: After almost 3 months with carnivore, my hair loss almost completely stopped (I'm losing much less hair than before starting less than half), and I also noticing I'm growing back hair in spots I thought were already dead, so, I can confirm carnivore helps tp grow hair back, but the first couple of months you'll lose more hair than ever...

I have been on the diet for several months,...and it's falling all around me! LOL! I think partly it seems worse because I have longer hair now, and when it was short the individual hairs were much shorter. Long hair wraps around in a circle all around the shower drain! Yikes!

👍 Great info. Keto reversed my thinning hair in about 8 months. It's grown back super soft & with very little gray. No need to color it so often now. My complexion looks noticeably healthy too. I've gotten some bold & funny compliments - people asking, what are you doing? Plastic surgery or something? There are no lines on your face!! (Lol ~ Noooo... There are lines, just much less noticeable.) I first thought the loss was age & hormone related but realize now it was a vitamin & nutrient deficiency. And weirdly easily correctable. More people, esp older women, should know about this, agree.

Please, what vitamins did you take & how much daily? My hair is already thin & worried starting this diet. Thanx!

@@freetheppl5376 I take a quality daily multi vitamin + an additional multi B vitamin supplement. (I've also boosted my C & D intake, thru foods & vitamins. Due to CV19 concerns.) But the vitamins alone are not enough, I've learned this from past tries - nothing much changed or happened. Changes only occurred after I made it all work together - cutting all junk foods & sugar; eating lots of eggs, meats, greens & much less processed foods instead. And adding a few basic supplements, because my caloric needs are low. Can't say if you'll lose hair, eating ketogenic foods, only that I did not. Guessing, because my previous eating habits were so atrocious that there was only one way to go - up. ⬆️ (Both my blood sugar levels & weight quickly dropped into safe healthy ranges & are still holding. Couldn't be happier!)
