Your thingamajiggy, rotary cutter, is extremely sharp. I know retracting the blade is a pain but if you ever cut yourself, it’s like a razor cut. A couple of my quilting friends learned the hard way & ended up at ER for stitches.
The covers are all so pretty. Of course my favorite is the slow stitched one ❤️

Thank you for this video on fabric covers. Your slow stitch one is to die for. I am so excited you are going to show us how to arrange the S/S. I have watched you make paper collages for years they are fantastic. I try to make mine look like yours but can’t,mine looks like trash blown against a fence. I got several slow stitch kits, I don’t why because I can’t arrange them either. All the covers are gorgeous.❤️🐇

These are going to be lovely. I just bought some fabric for a bunch of journal covers a few days ago. I did 2 fabric covers a couple months ago and absolutely love the feel of them. ☺♥
Pretty fabrics! My favorite bases are the 10x13 envelopes with cardstock inside to make them stronger. I look forward to see what kind of journals you make out of these!!

Instead of batting, you could try flannel in place of it. Put the flannel where the batting would go.

I love all these covers, but especially the slow stitched and bold flower covers. So pretty!
By the time I had cut a whole quilt out, pushing the button on the cutter to close it became second nature. It really has to become something you don’t even think about. I’m very glad that you are trying to remember because those rotary cutters are wicked tools. Your covers are so pretty. Love the slow stitch one! Hugs ❤

Gayle I am a short person and have found a small weight (like 2 pounds) on the end of the ruler that is farthest from me helps a lot to hold everything while I cut with my rotary cutter

I tend to over think and over complicate journal making and always gravitate to hard cover, 3 to 5 signature, etc. for some reason. Need to give myself a good talking to. Mix it up a little! These are simple, quick, and lovely. Hope you are warm and well. 💕

I heard of a lady who didn't close her cutter, went to scratch an itch on her face, and cut her face with the rotary blade.. after hearing that... I never forget to close my rotary cutter..!

Yes, I have put a ribbon in between the cover and the envelope before sewing before. 👍❤

Hi Gail. Good morning! I don’t think you sewed that chenille one. Simply because of the way the zig zag corners appear to be sewn. They don’t have the Gayle’s special turns that Some of us don’t have enough coordination to do. Lol

Hi Gayle, I'm not a quilter, so can you advise what type of batting you will use between the top fabric and the envelope on the black cover? Thanks. And, thanks for doing some of these on screen again. I needed reminded on how to go about it.
I just use a flatter batting from Joann’s. There that really puffy stuff…I don’t use that. The sales lady can help you find the thinner batting. 👍❤️

I’ve used watercolor paper from paintings that I did that turned out crappy. If someone someday dismantle someone in my journals they’re going to find a piece of a watercolor painting inside. Also Gayle made some videos where she used the Amazon bubble envelope inside, I’ve done that too. It’s a nice little crinkle.
