This is soooo great!!! I love what you did with all the pages. I think the brayering gave it so much character.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Even though it was fiddly, it turned out so beautiful!! Love it!🥰
Another project idea turns out beautiful. The prints are gorgeous. Thank you again for sharing.
Oh, that binding looks so much harder than sewing! I love the look of the braying on the banana paper and the contrast of the grunge with the delicate flowers. Digital Collage Club is so much fun!
Thank you! 😊
Great to hear you are havong fun with DCC🤩Tina
What a unique idea! Why it might be more difficult to a sewn spine it’s different! Something new that would become easier the more you do it! Thanks for sharing!
Another interesting binding process. It turned out great Barbara. Thanks for trying it out for us.❤
Very cute little book compilation - I especially love the purple packaging paper. I really love this style of grungy/shabby junk/art journal and I think the wonky irregularities add to the overall look. This binding style I’ve used before to bind some of my old greeting cards, that I’ve collected over the years, together into a book (better than having them stored away in boxes in cupboards etc where I never look).
I too love your colors in your journal. I went ahead and fixed a five signature trial journal. I did have to add more to my cut and folded strips. But it turned out ok. I added bands to the strips so my pages could be removed, or added to. Decided to only use it for coffee stained papers, or inked, or a few postage stamp papers. All to be used as originals, and copies made to use. Was a quicker project than expected, loads fun. Take care, be safe. Happy crafting everyone.
Oooohhhh my I love this journal. The vibrant/grungy look/colors is awesome.
Love how it turned out with the Digital Collage Club kit.
Thanks for sharing Barbara ... Very cute. Love the pages and cover.
Beautiful, and very much worth the fiddly stuff🍀💖😀
Oh, Barbara! Thank you for showing that special kind of bonding! I absolutely love it!!! 💛🥰
I give you so much credit Barbara because I was completely stressed out just watching you! Patience is a virtue and you are virtuoso!!!❤️
I love your work so much and it's so inspiring. Thank you for everything you do and everything you show in your tutorials. I especially like when you explain how you build your journals and pages.
Many thanks, Barbara! Enjoyed this tutorial. Your journal is beautiful! After watching this, I think I will stick to sewing my signatures in! 😅 Warmest aloha!💕🌺🌈✨️🙋♀️
I love your urban colorful papers ❤❤❤!
This is beautiful…My imagination is turning wild!
I really want to try this binding method. Just like everything I think the more we try the better it gets and we all learn from our experience. The important thing is to ALWAYS create!
Yes, I agree! ❤️
Very interesting way of binding. Absolutely stunning journal!
Is cute, and i love that is a mixed journal, is open to every direction, from artsy to strictly journaling. ♥♥♥
Turned out super cute! As usual, I love that your inspirational positive attitude, Barbara!
It turned out excellent! Everything you mentioned is stuff that does not matter, as you said. I love, absolutely love this little journal and will try this method for sure! ❤❤
I'm quite excited to give this a try.
I like that the pages lie flat. I agree it would be great for an art journal.
Your version is beautiful, as always.
Hi Barbara...this is Kate from Australia. I am just starting out, but never miss a single one of your videos. You are such an inspiration and will always be the "first" for me. Thank you for sharing your wonderful self with all of us. Sincerely, you are wonderful!
Aaaw thank you! ❤️
This journal is delightful! Vintage, shabby, artsy, feminine and grungy! Yummy 🥰
What a beautiful journal!!😍. The front cover is my favorite. I love how you can laugh at yourself. That’s important because it helps us to be patient with ourselves too. Thank you for sharing the great binding technique too. 😍
Boy I suffered with you! It seemed extremely fiddly, but it’s really is a wonderful journal! Absolutely beautiful. TYFS, 🤗❤️😍👍🏼🫶🏻🤩🥰
Not bad and very interesting, thank you for showing and best greetings, Gerlinde
I love how your banana pages changed colors from purple to dark blue with the addition of your brayered paint. I love that color. I was so nervous during the binding part. It was so confusing for me. So when you finished it, I was amazed as usual. Barbara did it again. The papers are beautiful too. I love having access to the Digital Design Club printables. Just so beautiful. ♥️♥️♥️
I think this little journal is wonderful! Adding the gesso really helped the cohesiveness of the pages. I like the wiggliness of it too. The corrugated cardboard covers are just perfect. In a way, it reminds me of the magical creatures book from Harry Potter that snapped at the children when they opened it.
Thanks so much! Haha that’s a funny picture in my head now with the snapping journal! 😃❤️
I've attempted this binding method before. I was less than impressed with my outcome. Yours is much tidier than mine was.
It really turned out to be a cute little journal. ❤
I myself wouldn't attempt this but I really enjoyed watching you put this together😊 It turned out super cute🤎
Thank you Barbara, very inspiring, I like it!
What about the challenge of "Not one drop of glue?"
Whithout a machine...
😅
😳 That is definitely a challenge! Hmmmm 🤔 This technique could actually be done without glue if you use wire or cardstock or chipboard die cuts or even sticks in the “mountain peak” to lock the pages in place. You’d have to start with a super long piece of cardstock to get the front & back covers & cut the excess out to create the hinge though. And measure carefully to ensure you got enough cardstock to create some folds. Unless you just used the one fold & just had one big signature 🤔🤔🤔 Now you’ve got me thinking 😁
I did not watch any of your videos for several months last year. I don't really know why I stopped watching but now I'm slowly getting back to watch you craft. It's really calming - especially in stressful times. So I'm happy to be back and I now have a lot of videos that I can watch to catch up.
Welcome back! 😊❤️
I like the artistic elements of your journal. It’s so pretty.
Amazing technique; I’m saving this video so that I can refer to it when I give this a go.
Fun little project.
I've tried this before and agree it is rather fiddly. I ended up gluing two pieces of fabric on it to help stabilize the spine. I enjoyed watching your video.
That's a good idea.
Just in love with all ur grunge journals...so beautiful and artsy
Such a pretty project. I've never seen that way of binding before. Thank you for showing us!!
I like this idea. I’ve a stack of gel prints and think this would work well with them. Plus I like small journals. Thanks for the inspiration.
Very unusual 😮 I don't think I could make it work for me but it was fun watching you. Always something new to learn. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Omg, that looked so fussy! But bravo and thank you for trying that out and sharing it with us. I’m going to try it with one large accordion strip in the middle and use cloth.
The journal looks so interesting, and pretty. I like the look, and I might try it with one wide paper strip. ❤
lol while you were weaving the strips into the pages al I could hear in my head was Luise saying "Barbara what are you doing!" And her then laughing!
Well done for your Perserverance!
I absolutely LOVE it - beautiful! and I so love your process. It's delightful to watch. I'm looking forward to trying it myself. 💗
Have fun! ❤️
Very pretty!! Thank you for sharing!!
Much as I love this journal I don’t think my patience would endure
Most excellent Barbara! ❤
Your video is a wonderful journey! The album is beautiful and inspiring. I would try that binding ;)
A very lovely junk journal, I love it. You are very talented.
Love it Barbara , and yes I am inspired to try this.❤
This is stunning. ❤❤❤
I really enjoyed watching this!❤ what a lovely little journal.
Hi Barbara. This is a great new way of binding. While you were putting it together I had a few thoughts about possibly putting some dangles in between the binding papers. Anyway thanks for sharing this process. I love this little journal. ❤😊
I recently did a larger Alice in wonderland tunnel book and did an accordion spine. Which I was wishing the entire time I was trying to put this rather tall and wide tunnel book together, that I had two more hands. Thinking I would never do this again. But when done I really lov d the look of it and would do it again. I think same goes for this binding. I think I will have to give this a try.
Oh that's one of my most used kits, I love it 😍. Lol neutralise🙈. I love how gesso strengthens more fragile paper too. Oh great way to use the coasters! The cover is so CUTE 😍. Oh interesting! I've never seen this version of accordion style, I like that it opens page by page not all out. I have patience (being a lover of coptic 🙊) and enjoy trying new binding techniques. I love that you can add pages onto them too! Absolutely gorgeous 😍, I'll definitely have a go. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖
Just my style of journal..I luv it ❤
Wowza! 🤩Another stunning project, Barbara! Loving to see our printable on your beautiful creations. Always proud of our Austrian Ambassador 🥰
Thank you so much, Tina! ❤️
This turned out nice but really seems like a 3 hole pamphlet stitch IS easier! Maybe everything is more complicated the first time we try it. lol I do love the papers and the corrugated covers! Thanks for trying it out on our behalf. ❤
Hello from Beautiful British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦
absolutely beautiful 😍
Super fun binding to try
I always have fun here! ❤
Love that! 😊❤️
I love it, Barbara! The torn corrugated card covers are perfect for your images. I so enjoy your style, the way you mix your media is so enticing - I can imagine how the journals feel to hold. Thanks for the tutorial!
Love this!
Es ist interessant für mich, diese Bindung zu sehen! Ich kannte es noch nicht.(Bin Anfänger) Vielen Dank fürs Zeigen!
Sehr gerne! 😊❤️
I joined the DDC for a year to try it out. I love the images on there.
Im interested in it.
Welcome to the club! So glad to hear you are enjoying our images! 🤗
Such a neat binding ❤
I only wish I could create a journal that fast. This is absolutely beautiful. I love all the papers. I think it’s a really cool binding and I definitely will have to give it a try. Thank you so much for doing this for us and sharing.
Hi angel 😇😘. I've never seen this method of binding before - it's pretty cool - different for sure! Last weekend and this weekend Natasa at Treasure Books is teaching us the Coptic method - I've done my homework and am ready for class tomorrow. Your vid reminds me how some gesso pushes stuff into the background but keeps it visible at the same time, and I love that, I just forget to do it! I use a lot of black gesso in my assemblage stuff but rarely reach for the white 🤷. I need to work on that, maybe even if I hafta put a note on one of the journals I'm currently working on... 🤔 Yeah! ... good idea! 💡 Thanks for the nudge!! 😉😁 Love you, sweetie, and I'll see you soon, MomK 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗
I made one, using this binding style and love it .,As you don't have to sew . Thank you for sharing and Kerri for sending this to her : )
I do like it very much. The colors are inviting together and I do prefer a nested cardboard look. It gives the feeling of carefree whimsy to me. Ive tried a few styles of spine, this one will be nxt to try.Take care, be safe.
Great idea, thank you for sharing.
Loved the banana papers with the yellow paint, that was my favourite!
Very unique and interesting. I liked it. I may try it. Once. Looks fiddly and might cause stress! Lol! Cute. TFS 🤗
Love crafting with you Audrey. The new setup looks really professional🌷🧀🇳🇱
Beautiful journal.
Natasha @treasure books has a binding method video coming up, it looks sweet! Watch her binding videos, you will be adding...
"Thankyou dear Natasha!!" 😊 Oh and her hands are pretty ... its a protocol to videos I watch, if thats all I see on screen. Thats my bad😂
I watch every video of yours and hers!
This one I am watching again, lol!!, Love the coasters and the gesso effect on your papers. Your tutorials are amazing!!❤🇨🇦🤗
Stunning
Very pretty! ❤🎉
Was für eine tolle neue Bindung. Werde ich definitiv mal ausprobieren . Danke fürs Zeigen🥰
I think it’s beautiful. I really love it.
Oh my goodness!! That was fun! And majorly messy. 😂 Trying to keep the gesso off my laptop whilst I crafted along with you was a mega mission!! lol. However, I am super happy with the result. I only made 3 signatures with 4 sheets each, and it was a GREAT way to use up packaging paper that I had already stamped, splattered, and generally distressed. I agree, it's a bit fiddly when you're doing it for the first time, but most things are. And, at the end of the day, constructing a grungy wee journal in a few of hours is amazing for those of us who are 'time short'. Yay!! We made it!. 😊🧡💚🤎
Hi Barbara, Turned out so cute 🥰.
Love this😍😍😍
Very fiddly 😮 but the end result is super gorgeous sweetie ❤
Beautiful little journal!... never seen this sort of binding either. I started with gluing journals as I learnt that first but I much prefer stitching as I think it's easier to get a good result 😅
Love this. 😊
What an adorable journal!
I love the shape and size and your creative papers. I made a journal with this type of binding and also found it frustrating!
I love this so much I can't wait to try it. Thank you so much for sharing❤
Wow, Barbara! This was so much fun to watch! I so admire your willingness to try new things on the fly and your honest evaluations at the end regarding the pros and cons. I don’t think I will be trying this binding method, but I love the grungy corrugated cardboard covers and can see myself using them with a different binding. Besides, I am a recovering quilt maker (haha) and love sewing my pages into my journals. ❤
So beautiful.❤
Wow. I did not see this coming together. I think it's great and I will try it. I have made books before where you create an accordian the same height as the pages and then stitch the signatures into the valleys. The advantage is that all the accordian folds don't have to be the same size so you can create pockets from the folds or leave them narrow and decorate them. ❤
Barbara, I love how this turned out. I feel for myself I would not do this binding as I think I would get frustrated making it. LOL! But it was fun watching you make this. And the pages are beautiful. TFS!❤
So pretty I love the grunginess and the pretty pages mixed all together I think it looks awesome and the binding is so cool thanks for sharing
cute!!!!! might be worth trying on a rainy day, but not sure, will have to rewatch this again. Love the papers!!!!
