I’d only go for the newer models 2013+ of these cars (Polo GTI, Fabia VRS and Ibiza Cupra) that’s when VW sorta fixed the prior issues with them.
Also them bocanegras are a car which are going up in value rn
I have seen these about but didn't know they were a tad sporty! It does look like it's had a pair of Hadrian cover sills fitted for its MOT though, 1990s style, not sure on that look 🤔
The 1970's Seat Bocanegra was a copy of the Fiat 128 3P and was called the black mouth because of its distinctive black grill.
My mate had one of these with the DSG box, spent £1200 on the box, something to do with some module 🤷♂, only had 45k on it. You're right, what a machine, went like absolute 💩off a shovel when it went right. He paid £3400 3 years ago knowing it had a fault, did the DSG repair and got £5500 3 months later so luckily got out of that one unscathed and 3 months of fun into the bargain. After 3 months his bottle went regarding having the unreliable box with big bills attached so moved it on.

Brilliant insight to how it goes . Love this channel videos bit high i think at 6 half but what i know . Keep them coming anyhow
I quite like the look of that, quite fancied a seat leon but only drive full automatics.
The DSG is fully automatic, exactly the same as my wife's VW Tiguan
@@gerryattrickbikerI think she means like a torque converter auto instead of a dct
I guess it's Seat's version of the Fabia VRS Goes like stuff off a stick , 1.4 burned oil like crazy, DSG box is superb but if it goes wrong, pricey. Bit of a gamble car.
the auction must make some silly money buying and selling fees.
They have plenty of staff and overheads to consider. It’s never as easy as people seem to think.
@@damianleah6744 but they make loads of commission on even relatively low priced cars. It’s not actually worth going for someone like me.
They rely on the inexperienced getting their eyes wiped and paying over book for faulty motors.
Boca nigra means black mouth, it's the sporty edition.
Got a 13 plate Ibiza Cupra 1.4TSI owned it for two years was a great third car for me cheap insurance too. Mines been slightly modified it's close to 220BHP and very quick gives alot of cars a hard time keeping up but not had any problems with it now close to 107K miles
I kept up with a modded one in my 2007 Mondeo st tdci
@@Hellndegenerates nice them mondeo sts are underrated barely see any where im from too
Where do you get them from “ideal car to go to the shops to get some milk and bread” 😆
I must be lucky with Seats, Had a 2012 1.2 Leon with DSG box (6yrs). Then a 2018 1.4 FR Leon with a manual box, which I changed after a few months because I didn't like a manual box. I then had a 2017 Ateca 1.4 with a DSG box (6yrs). Now in a 2023 Skoda Kamiq 1.0 with a DSG box. Never had any trouble with either the DSG boxes nor the engines, never needed to top up the oil on any, they all were on the mark until the oil changed at the next service. Never heard of the Bocanegra either.
I had one brand direct out of the showroom... started using oil about 2k miles and had a brand new engine under warranty at 7k ... still loved it went like a a stabbed rat ... sold it just before the 3yr warranty ran out
Best model is one that was unpopular when it was new. 2.0tdi FR has a nice body kit, 60+mpg and crucially, proper reliability!
@0:14 Easy, Seat Ibiza African Tribe Edition. 😘
It’s a Spanish company u dolt. At least be better with your racism
Got a feeling they were all DSG , I remember test driving one years ago fun little car but ended up going for a mini cooper s instead ( because I'm mad probably)
Hello nice video as usual.
I want to buy a reliable automatic car and i consider two options :
Kia rio 1.4 4speed 2019
Toyota yaris 1.5 cvt 2019
both using gazoline engine (no diesel no hybrid).
Wich one is more robust and reliable ?
Hi lee, seat bocanegra, which translates to black mouth in English language.
YUP! Just posted the same, or a question. A colleage told us 5 odd years back, oh, even worse
Spanish: nickname from boca 'mouth' + negra 'black', denoting a foul-mouthed or abusive person.
I've never heard of them. It looked nice but maybe a newer one is more reliable than older ones.
If I remember correctly all bocanegras 1.4 twin charge were dsg gearbox had new one in 09 fin car reliability horrendous
👌👌
Considering the age, it still looks decent
No that's a bloody nightmare. Mate had one of those first generation tfsi cars and it had 2 new engines in the first 2 years before he got fed up and sent it back. The engines couldn't take the power.....hence they went back to the 2.0 on fast models.
Geoff buys cars likes Volvos
Bocanegra I was told it roughly translates in Spanish to Black mouth.
the common opinion is that all the earlier pre facelift 1.4 twincharged ones can be very problematic but apparently the later facelift which came with a 1.8tsi was much more reliable
1.4 TSi is awful for reliability , great to drive when looked after
Never heard of them....sounds like a South American football team.
😁👍
Bocanegra is Spanish. It means 'Black Mouth' which in some quarters is a put down for someone with a foul mouth!
Never owned 1
However.....It's the Car You Wished You got when on Holiday 😂
Same for any hire car...drive it like you stole it 🤣
The Bocanegras are all DSG.
Those seats are horrible. Those twin charged 1.4tsi along with that dry clutch automatic is just asking for trouble.
Was told to leave the DSG alone
Bocanegra, isnt it a Cupra model it means black face or something similar.
We had one, 70k good history
DSG box, it did a piston - We sent it away to an independent Vw specialist who put the bottom end back together wrong which screwed the entire lump after new pistons and rings were fitted - They ended up coughing £2500 for a good second hand lump
We traded it out and made about £3.78 out of the thing
I’d never touch another one - Typical VAG group rubbish
Oops was Lee worried about being non PC by saying Negra😂
BOC-AN-EGRA
Do your self a favour save yourself the head ache had mine less than a hour an it was a engine rebuild at 2 an half k then I done that gearbox started jumping through the gears an then still had problems with the engine ended up taking a loss an putting it through the auctions 😂 other than that loved it but reliability is terrible
5 0wners ?? then Auction = Beware
Goes like a stabbed rat 😂
Who knows without Google what Bocanegra means in it's native tongue?????
The 1.4 with a dsg. No thanks. Same as the Polo gti. Stay clear.
Hi Lee. Not a bad looking Car. I would say there's afew Quid to be made with it. BUT nearly £4K too Pay out doesn't make me happy. You will likely have it for awhile and hopefully it's a straight car with nothing wrong with it. Alot of your Customers will be looking at Fiestas or a lovely Renault Clio for that kind of Cash. I would only buy this if i had someone for it. Chat later bro. 😅🖐🖐🇨🇮
DSG & PowerShift - massive weak points 😒
Mines on 150k with just basic servicing of the box they're not perfect but a knowledgeable owner prepared to actually spend money maintaining it goes a long way.
I'm guessing not too many revs? @@johnnycarruthers9737
Yes unreliable. The 1.4 turbo and supercharged ebgine couldn't handle the power. Produced 180bhp and th VAG group put engines in early Audi A1. The bocanegra. The Skoda Fabia VRS and VW Polo. Fast and fun but unreliable.
Every vehicle is cheap at auction no one bids at any sort of auction it’s a joke
Like most German cars these days, unreliable and constantly off the road in the garage.
Unreliable German rubbish that is just churned out. Just my opinion
