Research shows that teaching children about financial concepts as early as age 3 can help them develop money management skills that will last a lifetime. Giving them access to a debit card is one way to instill financial knowledge, promote responsible spending, and provide added safety benefits.
Several companies offer debit cards for kids, and Greenlight is a popular choice. With the Greenlight card, children can securely spend, save, and invest all in one place, helping them learn the basics of digital money management while still under their parents' guidance and protection.
But, is the Greenlight card a good option for you or your kid?

Super helpful! I'm exploring debit card options for my teen and would love to see a comparison between top kid debit card options
My son card came yesterday and I love it I’m old skool so I’m watching this video to keep me updated
Thanks! I’m glad you found value in this video.
Can it be used in Europe if one of my kids travel there...
The Greenlight card can be used internationally in most countries. Check this out (help.greenlight.com/hc/en-us/articles/234742128-Can-the-Greenlight-card-be-used-internationally-)
Great review
Can it be used in Europe... sorry I thought I left a message.
Yea you can i searched it up on the help page it says that it can be used internationally
I got it for the 3% unlimited cash back (after spending $4k/mo).
Digital currency is not cash
in intrested but i dont understand 1 thing does the parent get credit for their credit score
Great question: No, Debit cards are not considered credit, so activity with them is not reported to credit bureaus and does not appear on credit reports.
Great video. Thx
Appreciate you! You’re welcome!
Is there anything like green light that might be better or no ?
We really like Modak Makers. Check them out!
I was looking for a simple debit card account for my teen, but the app and GL card management is doing waay too much.
So are you saying GL was too complicated for what you needed the account for?
@TheModestWallet Yes. But it also seemed fundamentally complicated for simple, ordinary banking.
i don’t like it that it has a limit
Yea, definitely one drawback :(
Its pretty bad, alot of restrictions. Cant buy to much with greenlight.
Appreciate that feedback. Sorry to hear that!
My experience also.
I was looking for a simple debit card account for my teen, but the app and GL card management is doing waay too much.
Not trying to push a cashless society
I just got one lol
Let us know how you like it
I mean, I like it, but Chime is free
Can kids use Chime?
Kids can’t open a chime account.
No, must be 18
@@soccer11scout I guess not
Nice 9 minute ad
Thanks for the feedback
I don’t like that my parents control my money and they can see where I’ve been buying things. And there’s a limit on this card too. You can’t spend over a certain amount. There’s like a $300 limit you can add to the card at once.
So anyone with a bank can have the government look at their spending. Get used to being monitored lol
I can see how that would be frustrating.
Ayoooooo
greenlight is trash 🗑️
Don’t like the fees?
@@TheModestWallet yup and i don’t like that my parents control my money
@@rudolphbillups3119your parents know what’s best for you, they are trying to teach you. Trust me man, I went through the same thing with my father. Once you start listening more taking things in and letting less out, while also talking with them about the things you don’t like. You’ll understand.
What a rubish review!
Thanks for your feedbacm
