    When you do that for the mix, and push compression, the peaks of the kick and snare will suddenly start to mute the vocals. For broadcast, you want to limit or compress the kick and snare on the input side, That way they do not pump the vocals, which can be brought up in the mix.

      Mostly agree. Realistically, you’re probably going to have to do both haha. I agree, as much as you can, controlling the individual channels beforehand will allow you to be way more subtle at the end of the chain :)

    1. What does Squeeze do? What should I listen for in adjusting Squeeze?
    2. You've set this up to get good strong signal during music. What do you do during the spoken bits like readings and message?

  • @tommih597
    @tommih597 Před 3 lety

    Realistically you should be turning your house speaker levels down rather than sacrificing input gain or having to run your faders lower so you can drive your input gains more and have your faders at unity meaning you will have plenty of output coming out of the desk. I've done this at my church and it works really well.

  • @TimKaseyMythHealer
    @TimKaseyMythHealer Před 2 lety

    The limiter doesn't have a way to remove the pumping of the low end? I wouldn't even consider using such a limiter. I would rather use the channel compressor and filter to only compress frequencies above 200Hz, and set it to a 2:1 or 4:1. You should use two compressors in series, and not try to do it all with one compressor (that's what sounds bad about compressors). Also, the Behringer X32 has a frequency compressor and this would be more appropriate than the brick wall. In summary, the stock channel compressor to do lite compression at 2:1 or 4:1, and this is then fed into the frequency compressor. The frequency compressor is a mastering compressor that is one of the effects you can insert on a bus.

    • @AWTechTuesday
      @AWTechTuesday  Před 2 lety

      I agree that some sort of multiband compressor before a brick wall limiter is more ideal. Unfortunately, the X32 only has one insert slot and a limited number of rack fx. If you have an open pair of matrices and an open rack slot, you can stack effects that way :)
      I suggest prioritizing the Precision Limiter if you don’t have the ability to stack. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      @TimKaseyMythHealer Před 2 lety

      @@AWTechTuesday Yes, that's what sucks. Right when it could be great, the drop the ball & you get short changed. I've recently come to understand that many people are having success with the multi-track USB out the X32, and processing in their DAW, outputting (slight latency) back to the X32, and achieving the same quality that you would expect from the DigiCo touring & other similar high end consoles that incorporate waves plugins. I've got a monster CPU in my laptop, and a turbo boost that may help process these plugins with little or no latency. The reality is that you are going to delay your speakers anyway for time alignment, and if you do the calcs and/or a time alignment click with a look at your wave file recordings, you can determine latency and incorporate that into the delay you put on your speakers anyway.

    Thanks for your helpful videos.
    I have noticed after I updated the latest firmware (4.04.1) on the X32, the fader db level is showing incorrectly. Say for example, if I set Channel 1 fader at 0 db, the LCD display shows that it is +4db on the Main tab. All the fader are showing like that. Is this a firmware issue or may be my console needs repair. It is surprising that all faders are like that. Could you please check your console and let me know
