I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit of an Indian hipster. I'm just so tired of being around Punjabi people in social settings and I absolutely DESPISE modern bhangra music. The uncles are always drinking, the aunties are always gossiping, and the people my age pretty much take after the aunties and the uncles. Guys drinking and either girls gossiping or just acting like two-faced bitches. There's so much melodrama going on too!
Don't get me wrong, I love being Punjabi. I'm not ashamed to admit that I am Punjabi in the slightest. I love listening to qawwali, older bhangra songs, Punjabi folk music, etc., mango lassi is my favourite summer drink, and I'm not above dancing bhangra even though I have no idea how to whenever I'm in the mood. But when it comes down to being around my own people in parties and such... I can't.
