    I can't wait to hear it fire up. I'm sure it will be a beast. it looks like it has a lot of compression. You are truly a gifted mechanic.

      Mark Durham Same here, hopefully tomorrow! It does have plenty of compression but it had that last time too and we've seen how that worked out ;) But we'll see soon enough if this is an improvement.
      And thanks for the kind words, but I'm just a guy messing around in my garage doing stuff I find interesting, wouldn't go as far as gifted mechanic :)

      Benoît Genest Thanks! It was more work than I thought, but luckily it went a lot faster than the first time :)
      I'm hoping for the best! I'll probably take it really easy and maybe open it up for inspection before I go nuts on the rpms. Because I really don't want to have to fabricate this sleeve a 3rd time...

      2STROKE STUFFING I'm afraid you're going to have to ;)
      But I'm on my way out to the garage in a bit, I'm actually nervous about it!

    Hur blir det med längen på vevstaken vid full rpm . Tänker på avståndet till toppen , osv. Fantastiskt jobb du gör. Mvh mike

    How did you make the intake flange for the carb? And did you cut off all the old air shrouding on the mag side?Thanks!

    • @Hollaendaren
      @Hollaendaren  Před 6 lety

      oldsled1 A bit of a long story.. But basically I started out with a piece of aluminium round stock, bored the original intake, and JB welded it in. Then went nuts with the rotary tools :)
      And yes I cut up the original case quite a bit.

    It's as well you didn't leave the cylinder the wrong way around because imagine the shock of your first ride in reverse?

    You know more about this stuff than me but i do much of the same things you get into. Consider after honing and all chamfering of ports only soapy water and two stroke oil touching your bore. I doubt it amounts to much wear but solvent will leave grit farther in the surface profile than soap ive heard. Im not sure my stuff last long enough to see the benefit. Keep up the good work, it's how we make bad ass toys.

    • @Hollaendaren
      @Hollaendaren  Před 5 lety

      Thanks! I'm not too worried about the bore though, like you say it probably won't last enough for me to see any difference here :) I'm usually happy if I make it a whole season without having to change a piston and clean a bunch of aluminium off the bore ;)
      I'll keep it in mind for trail cylinders though!

    Just curious. What was the source of the dual plug head?

    • @Hollaendaren
      @Hollaendaren  Před 6 lety +1

      Don Sipes The head is an Aermachi head, not sure about the spelling. I came across it while browsing eBay and got it for 25 bucks :) It needed a bunch of machining before it would fit though, a different bolt pattern and a completely new combustion chamber.

    And still using the original pull handle . What ignition are you using? Looks like a VR trigger off a Rotax

    • @Hollaendaren
      @Hollaendaren  Před 6 lety

      Rotaz Racing I find these old T-handles the most comfortable :) If it works for a 797 triple it'll do for a little one lunger too.
      I'm using Ignitech ignition, www.ignitech.cz this is one of the triggers they sell but I'm sure it's used on other stuff too.

    • @Hollaendaren
      @Hollaendaren  Před 6 lety

      PS this pull handle is actually not original to the 277, they had the modern finger-hurting type. This particular one came off a 320 together with the recoil.
