  • Tired of the old look of your 03-05 Toyota 4Runner? So was I.
The 06+ is so much more visually appealing.
Plus the projectors put out better light making your car safer to drive at night, and the LED tail lights are brighter decreasing your chances of being rear ended.
In this video I show you how to update the headlights, grill, and the tail lights to the newer LED ones
The difficulty level is minimal to do the front and rear lights, the 06+ grill is another story
Watch the whole video before ordering the grill

For the parking light bulbs, I cannot find the ones (or ones similar) I purchased years ago
I CAN tell y'all they were 194 LEDs
All the ones i can find seem too long, BUT I did get the holder in with stock bulbs, and 168 led SHOULD fit
For 10$ for 10 bulbs, I would risk these ones:

The difference in my process was that I removed the bumper entirely to make my long cur across, and made some cuts to the corners of the eBay grille to clear the headlights since I kept the 05 ones. Great instructional video though!

Great video! I like the grill the best . Wish there was like a set of fenders were they would work with the truck front ends . I’d change out my 04 for the 2017-2020 . The bumper , hood, grill and headlights seems like from what I’ve seen those peace’s are easily made to fit with a little carving behind the head lights . The newer truck front fenders don’t line up with the door contour. These older 4Runners look so good with mods and the newer Tacoma front ends are just sick on these . Toyota sure uses a lot of different bulbs but I found the low beam to be the same as the bulbs in my lower bumper projection lights to be the same . It looks a lot better from the start !

A lot of people just skip reinstalling the wheel well bolt, b/c it is a royal pain to get started & put a socket on. Definitely worth popping off the plastic well liner and replacing those bolts, tho. I bought some OEM-style projector headlights to replace the yellowed ones on my 2006. Took about 45 minutes to replace both. Had to buy some plastic rivets, tho -- broke a few in the replacement, and about five were missing from the inner shroud.

Headlights on the 06-09 4Runners are not very good. You would have been much, much better doing a retrofit to the 03-05 headlights. If you really want the 06 headlight look, then you can retrofit those with much, much better projectors, but they are a lot harder to retrofit. The LED taillights are kind of cool, but I personally found it better to just use a phillips LED replacement in the stock taillights. It is much newer technology and much brighter than the 06 taillights. But, when I fist got my 05 4Runner, I looked at all of these upgrades as well, so I don't blame you for wanting to do them.

@@0tterthekulakking620 Let’s clarify some things. What’s everything you changed? The tail lights? The headlights? Or both? Do a light check as well. Do all 4 turn signals work? Hyplerflash points to a bulb being out (that’s the point of it) so make sure they all work. You might have forgot to plug them in

Oem replacment, not genuine. Make sure to buy tail lights that are already wired so you can just plug the led board in, a buddy bought the cheapest ones and they required some wiring, just look at the pics and if it’s 3 wires that aren’t connected to anything, your going too cheap

Love this video. Thank you so much for your time? Got Questions. Which socket is the one you put the LED light on? Is it off the Camry? And if so what year was it? Or is it the original one from your 04?

    • @steinfabgarage
      @steinfabgarage  Před rokem +1

I used the Camry, idk 09 maybe, however your factory ones work, but the bulb will contact the the outer lens.
Just use the OEM holder with a led bulb, if it’s shorter- great it won’t contact, if not it’s LED so it don’t be hot. Short led is best tho
