This looks as if the batrep between the Nids and the Blood Angels was a narrative. They took the outpost and stripped it of life. The Raven Guard see a distress signal and come to help
Very fun battle, thanks for posting. A cracking Raven Guard army returning - Reiver helmets on the sniper Scouts look seriously cool. Those new Chapter Approved missions are going to make things interesting.

those are bio-plasmic cannon which are -3 AP so no mistake were made here fortunately....that s a difference between 4 dead aggressor or 1 dead aggressor geez. i wonder why winter says it s -2 AP.
@47:00 Yes you can remove the ones that are not within 1" of an enemy model and fire their non-pistol weapons, however, as if it were the shooting phase. So no shooting things that are in melee with non-pistols.
All those Raven Guard rules stacked up on top of one another was bullshit-outrageous. Watching the brood lord shred those characters was seriously satisfying.
I wouldn't have moved up on the Tyranids. Seems like a huge waste of command points, and it ruined those aggressors which had the most anti-horde weapon.
I think he was banking on the ancient giving the aggressors the shots at close range if they die, which he failed several 3+, so unfortunately did not get much bang for his gamble. If he makes two or three more of those 3+ rolls, those aggressors would have shredded the gribblies.
both sides played well and those die rolls were insane lol. the scenario was interesting and had the center objective been placed in more open terrain it would have been a very different game. "victory favors the bold" is the best way to describe why the tyranids took more points early on as well as a larger psychic presence on the table. not to say the dark angles list was anything to scoff at. i think the early loss of the big guns broke player moral more then anything. if he had pushed back equally as hard and outflanked with the missile speeders eating away at the pyrovores and gaunts in the base where the defensive line was weakest he would have stood a better chance at making it a close game. honestly it would be nice to see this exact table setup used in a traditional hold the line with this diagonal deployment. marines vs tyranids. the starship troopers reference was great but id like to see it played out. just for fun.
No real point in correcting him, I doubt he'll remember. Besides, it's not like it's a big deal, nor are these games really terribly important. Unless they're betting off-camera I suppose, but somehow I doubt it.
With space marines getting huge boosts, what would the 'Nids need to stay competitive? I love the idea of the Tervigon spawning into a full unit of gaunts (30, 20 of which with devourers), but not sure if it's cost effective. It would improve the odds of getting synergy with two Terries and two full units, so you have less chance one of them is wiped. But that would be a huge point investment. What would be best, just generic point reductions? Would one point cheaper gaunts be broken? Or free devourers on half of the models? Terry spawning into units up to 30 regardless on how many they start with? Genestealers are such glass cannons. Maybe up their price but give an extra wound? They should be scarier! That would give opponents hard choices what to target. Either focus enough on screen so they don't respawn, focus on Terries or kill the genestealers before they get into combat. More dakka options would be nice, but instead of firing twice when standing still I'd prefer no heavy fire and move penalty (or assault tyoe) so they get a more mobile not castle vibe. Maybe some nice options to soup with jeanstealer cults?
1:07:00 should have used the stratagem where you get D3 CP back for killing a character with a Genestealer, lictor, venomthrope or toxicrene. Brood lord has the genestealer keyword
Love your battle reports and great to see the missions. Always love seeing nids as I have 18k pointed army. Have some spures which are going to be added to our current giveaway. I don't think I need and more lol.
Excellent timing Sir! >>>> SPOILERS >>>> At the end, you asked for thoughts - well, I recon: Get those scouts out early to screen your flanks - I was thinking put them forward, but the Kracken double tap thing would've made that idea worse Use the landspeeders to tie up the anti armour? I just have to say I love that most of the games on this channel are fluffy and fun.....but as a Raven Guard player it pained me to watch this bat rep. 1. The speeders could run circles around this tyranid army and with the bad sight lines should have controlled and thrown shots down the flanks. 2. He wasted 3 CP at the start of the game for nothing and his overall deployment was horrible 3. The agressors were the key to victory in his list and he lost them before they could even really shoot. You know that a tyranid player is going to run at you full speed so he should have given the tyranid long range guns no angles turn one and waited for his enemy to come to him. Also people saying SMs suck this edition need to remember winter's plays fluffy lists that he enjoys, not necessarily super competitive ones so this SM list definitely had a chance to win. The only thing he was not equipped for were the psychers, that's why callixus (can't spell) assassin's are almost an auto include when playing against Tyranids or Thousand Sons.
How'd you think about a mechanic where the vanguard detachment (or all the 1HQ 3 Fast attack/ elite/ heavy support detachments) gain +4 command points if it's the only detachment in your army Could give the elite armies some edge and reduce soup
That's a pretty raven guard army! I'm hoping i'll be able to paint my own CSM army with that much detail, but I can't decide between Black Legion and Word Bearers
Black Legion, give each unit the Icon of Vengeance for 5pts plus the Legion trait, gives the unit Ld 10. The other part of the Legion trait allows them to turn rapid fire weapons into assault weapons when the unit advances. Of course if you want to play a more narrative and colorful army Word Bearers are awesome. Things like Gal Vorbak from Forge World make killer possessed models, the Mhara Gal tainted dreadnought, if you're bored with Contemptors and Helbrutes, also from Forge World. Also Zardu Layak and Blade-Slaves for some interesting Icon bearers and HQ's. All this plus summoning all the Denizens of the Warp, it'll look sick on the table. Apocalypse anyone?

@22:10 The aggressors can not fire twice cos the Fire Storm rule that allows you to fire twice requires them to remain stationary on their turn. Thanks for the awesome battle report =D Raven guard army is beautiful ^^ Wouldn't the overwatch on the hellblasters overcharge on a 1 or 2, as the carnifex is -1 to hit against shooting, so 2's count as 1.
Also you should have used a CP after shrike died to gain D3 back (assuming you had any left), then maybe attacked again to kill the lib if you got back enough
I agree with the people saying about SM's not being great this edition, but there also sempt to be some pretty questionable tactics... The aggressors took an extra move into the middle of the board in direct LoS without any hope of getting the middle objective, with second turn. Maybe if there was some sort of screen but there was nothing. How can you attack shrike with the broodlord? You didn’t charge him or got charged, did you? If I remember correctly the intervention is not a charge from shrike
This battle report irritates me because right from the beginning I felt that raven guard didn't have a chance because it was a -1 to hit gun line versus TYRANIDS (which we all know doesn't work out too well for gun lines) and on top of that, Winters got a whole bunch of lucky 6s when it counted while raven guard couldn't seem to roll a 6 to save his life. It also didn't help that the table was built in favor of the Tyranids as well, with the center objective where the Raven Guard didn't have line of sight.
Didn't the raven guard player pick his side? Geesh. But yeah, he brought a gunline to a scenario that required center control. Practically everything in the RG army got to reroll hits which completely negates the -1 close to venoms, until he threw his Shrike away. That was what lost him the game, even with the bad pick of side.
Loved the RG list. Scouts mounted in Land speeder storms - over priced, under perform, totally thematic, love it. Might have been a couple of tactical errors but great bar rep as ever.
