As someone else said, after watching your videos, I look at things differently... what they could be instead of what they currently are. And listening to your thought process about the items has been very educational!
Looking forward to see how you transform the HL piece you bought on clearance. I bought a similar one about a month ago. Mine is more of a jug shape with the top third being a shiny silver. Initially planned to make it over but as I was moving things around, it ended up sitting next to a gold mercury glass vase/candle holder and now I'm really appreciating the pairing.
Also, how is your build coming along? I found you because of your diy projects but was very excited to see your house plan and Knoxville location. My husband is from East TN and our nieces and their families live in Knoxville. Our 5ish year plan is to retire to the Douglas Lake area so I'm very interested in the process. Hope all is well 😊
Hi there! So good to hear from you 😊 Thank you for your kind words. We do love to find ways to create high-end looks without breaking our budget, and of course, everything I like is crazy expensive. I'm so happy you love what we do. It really means a lot to both Cory and I.
I have painted the HL vase, with white on top, but I feel like its missing something, so stay tuned, I hope to showcase what I end up doing with it for a summer refresh in the living room or entry. I have some ideas. I think your jug/vase sounds beautiful. Sometimes you can luck out and find something that works as is, and you don't even need to transform it. I tend to shy away from glazing, only because I like that "old world" kind of look on my pots and vases, but I have been really liking some of the glazed pieces that have been coming out.
As for our build...I'm so happy you asked 😊 We have one more hurdle to jump and then we hope to have an update for you all very, very soon. It is still in the works, with us hoping now to break ground in August or September. We are inching ever closer for sure.
We love it here in East Tennessee, and honestly it has felt like home since we first came out here to be sure this was where we wanted to be. We will definitely continue to share our owner/builder journey with you, so hopefully it will help you decide if you want to be your own contractor. It has been a lot of work, but I think it will definitely pay off overall in the money we will save.
