I assume you wouldn't need to use this process if you have synched your bank account to QB Online as the transactions come over and get matched up. Or if you pay a bill using this manual method, does QB know not to duplicate it when the transaction comes over from your bank?

You usually have to match it in the bank feeds if you have manually paid the bill in QB.
