Thought I'd share the unboxing along with my review.

Holy sh**!! That was so sweet! That Mars kit dialed in so nicely -- once the new heads were swapped in -- and Rees' playing is mind-blowing! Thank you for demoing that set so beautifully! I want a Mars kit -- Dragonwood, baby! --- with some Meinl cymbs! Woo!

Mapex and paiste go so good together,I don't care what anyone says, paiste cymbals are the best in the business, the cymbals made in Switzerland are just next level, from the signiture series stuff , going to the thrash metal Staples the'rude' series cymbals are the best thing in the world for any heavy, thrash, death, grindcore metal drummers, you can't go wrong with them, especially when playing live,if the mixer struggles with them in the studio,I'd have the 2002s in reserve, but saying that, I was able to purchase a 16 rock crash,18 rock crash,18 power crash,20 power ride,16,18 and 20 China types, some 14 high hats ( cut down to 13 inch) and a ten and 12 splash in the alpha series cymbals and I have to say, they are able to stand toe to toe with the rudes on stage, but they are slightly more controllable in the recording studio,I don't think paiste make them anymore,I think they replaced the line with the PST 8 range of'more affordable cymbals'
And from what I have heard, they are pretty bloody amazing for the price.

Pinstripes and birch power Tom's, now you are talking,in my opinion the sound of a slightly deeper TomTom is so much better than the sound of the current trend in short stack Tom's, also I think they look much better, and as I started in the late 80s , premier xpk, projector, resonator, and pearl export, stage custom, and the majority of the other main drum companies were doing a similar thing in regards to the depth of the POWER Tom's (that's what they were called in the 80s and early 90s )
My favourite were the Tama art star series, and the sonor drums that were played by Nicko Mcbrain, can't remember the name of the series, but he played them up until the end of the fear of the dark tour, then suddenly switched to premier Genista drums.

Hi Jarae, you can order one from Mapex via your local main dealer.
Mapex offers 8” through 13” Tom sizes for the Mars line.
