- Elk hunter and mountain athlete Mark Seacat has long believed that the primal act of hunting is, at its core, quite beautiful. Now he and director Christopher Murphy think they've proven it. The team at the Helio Collective have created what they call a "cinematic and authentic hunting story" with their new short film, Searching for West. As the season nears to a close with only 10 days left in the season and still no cut in the tag, he must decide the importance of time with his new born son, West, and his wife or harvesting the perfect bull to define the most memorable season of his life yet. What will he chose- searching for the unknown or pursuing the absolute of family?

Great editing! I love watching shows that are about the hunt, and not kill shot after kill shot. THIS is hunting. Well done!
Ryano81 great respect for your views and etics. Hunting must never be deminished to guns, shooting, sport or just killing. Its about something much bigger...
Yes they call it... backpacking
Agreed! Hunt.Lift.Brew
The finest depiction of our lifestyle I have ever seen. What a fantastic video!
Great video and great message. I gave up hunting once my kiddos were born and now I’m their personal guide when they hunt. I passed the torch onto them.
These Sitka films are amazing.
The heart and soul of it all. Nicely done.
This is HUNTING indeed! Life’s chapters & tough decisions coupled with the entire journey! Love it, very well captured!
awesome movie, thank you for sharing your thoughts and life. You have a beautiful family.
Great video! And glad he's holding a bow representing a Camo company.
Better than most hollywood movies. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Great video and awesome take away.
I love this - your film work and editing is inspirational - great work guys
I love the stories about the beginning of hunt, during the hunt and after the hunt. Keep this shit up boys, it is what hunting is about!
I was a big fan of Sitka Gear, I think I will become an even bigger fan, what a great video, thank you! God Bless
Amazing... thanks for sharing
fantastic footage, brilliant story,love hunting
His voice is so fitting for a narrative role loved it
10 stars! I understand you perfectly...having kids was also the greatest things to happen to me...although I couldn't do the things I loved doing...those things could always wait.
Now I’m gonna be a Bow hunter! Thanx!
Beautiful when I’m hunting I think I should be home with my boys and wife but they push me and that’s why every year I hunt harder and harder we’ll done video Sitka this is why I choose to be the best and use the best !!!
Congrats to you guys and things are only going to get better from here nothing is giving like the growth to the family just a fan from northern Ontario Canada who usually doesn't comment much but this was just beautiful
Sensational film making!
Great vid!
Beautiful!
Don't know why this only has 170,000 views
I am continually amazed that guys use a lead~sled style rest to sight in their rifles. Guns are like musical instruments...they vibrate..the more consistent the vibration the more in tune they are. Inhibiting the rifle’s natural vibration characteristics is gonna cause you a problem...especially at longer ranges.
Beautiful
Saying it’s a great video is an understatement! Thank you for the share and great story. I’m hoping to make a similar video this year, I appreciate the motivation.
Outstanding video
What pack is he using in this video?
Great video by the way, very inspiring!
Sitka gear is quite expensive but the proof is in the pudding and I will be switching to it this upcoming hunting season cause NY state in my zone has only a few weeks left you want to the best you have to pay for the best awesome product only question I have is which is the darkest of all the colors I’m in upstate NY I think the white tail camo is a little too light thank you
incredible !!!
Wow very inspirational video thank you for sharing that.
I sense a little inspiration a la “The Art of Flight”
Definitely would leave those YETI coolers on that rack unattended lol
Very well done video and message!
Sometimes I wonder if other guys have gone through this? Now I know.
I’m at the point now where my kids are old enough to participate and it’s great when they do!
Man it is the best gear but my budget with 4 daughters 2 in college ain’t going to happen I’ll be dead before I can afford it😒😞😕
Change is the only constant
great film!
Does this guy have anymore videos?
Really good man. Didn’t expect that. Proud of you..
Can someone give me the brand/model of the big tent at 18:31 ?
looks like a Hilleberg
This film and story should receive an academy award!!!
Wow. Seriously chocked up...
CLASSIC.
👏👏👏👏👏🤜🇧🇷🤛
This is my most favorite Toyota Tacoma commercial I have ever seen.
Pretty sure it’s a Tundra not Tacoma
Gotta be Montana, Truck windshield is cracked...haha
GREAT VIDEO
Great!! 🙌
The vision of this place remind me Skyrim.
art of flight rip?
Boohoo. I was hunting for clarity when the weather was good. Wishing I was with my newborn when the weather was bad. Sitka's videos are mostly amazing until someone chooses hunting and thinks he's suffering!!!!
If you do not do this for a career then I'd say ponder on that choice & perhaps reconsider as you have a true talent & I'm guessing many stories to tell. Ps what a chunk of a son , congratulations to you & your bride.
Absolutely PERFECT! You made the choice of a MAN!
"mountain athlete". lol.. hilarious term. was Fred Bear a mountain athlete as well?? lol..
I thought this was a movie about kanye
Cuts down a live tree.... brings home a load of old dried rounds
Beautiful film, amazing cinematography, no question about it. But did you make the hard choice to be with your family? Is that a hard choice? Is there anything wrong with being out in the woods, especially if this pursuit can translate into a new career, or at least an additional income stream? Your dialog seams unnecessarily emotional, and thus cheap. To tug at the heart strings, to try and somehow send a message that you may have come up with, too late. It was a great movie but your commentary at the end sounded a lot like " I didn't get a bull, It's cold, I feel like giving up, I now feel guilty for leaving my family and how do I try to salvage this film and impart some grand wisdom to my followers"
Life is about finding a way to balance all our priorities and family is at the top of that priority list. Good decision!
nice and deep minds...
some time ago I had the same situation.. one boy second boy and maybee one more :)
and i cnow that i dont have time in future hunt like it wass......
but it is one thing that Im waithing ... whenn may boys starts hunting .... end i cnow that bigest pleasure is learn boys hunting and see how they grow up like hunterss...
Too sentimental. What is the purpose of hunting alone without transport? If he kills a deer, how will he bring the meat for the family by foot? Nothing personal, just ad of Sitka & Leica.
use some common sense. 1. do you think he actually a man who would kill the animal and just let it rot? Really? 2. he is not alone, who do you think made the film? there are at least 3 folks there, thats how the food was packed out, most likely.
a reply to myself. he didn't need to pack anything out as he shot nothing. But 1. and 2. would have applied had he.
Nice video, but someone take this man's highspeed camera away!
perfect.
Meh
Quit hunting to play goo goo gah gah. I’m concerned.
Wait until you have two kids flailing on the ground because their jacket is too tight/ beanie is too itchy/ and gloves are too squishy and a pregnant wife glaring at you because you left a drawer open. You’ll be begging for some silence.
To Bad there gear is made over seas . You think an American company that enjoys America would put American people to work making there products !@!
Quit the season hunting to play goo goo gah gah. Weak. I’m deeply concerned. Terrible film
