Thank you very much for this video. One thing i would point out is to at 7:18, you need to attach the one hose common to the top portion of the assembly before fully seating with the gasket and metal ring. Aside from that, great video. It helped me with changing both fuel filter and fuel pump. Maybe would point out also that getting the metal rings off was incredibly difficult even using the same "OEM" tool in the video. I ended up spraying WD-40 and taking a breaker bar and applying quick burst of torque and each one broke free.
Update: Fixed it! I didn't buy a lock ring removal tool so that was probably the hardest part. Removed the lock ring without damaging it too much with a 1/4" socket extension attached to a 9/16" socket + a hammer. It took me like 40 mins to get both off.. Other than that this was pretty straight forward. Be very careful and patient with all the release clips on the hoses, they are finicky. Also removing the passenger side lock ring once you've unscrewed it is super difficult. I own an e90 m3 and the hose on top of the pump makes it nearly impossible to remove.

I noticed when you replaced the fuel regulator hoses you used the old ones. I was trying to figure out how to feed the new ones over to the passenger side. I saw you push your hand almost elbow deep however you did not connect the new hoses.
fantastic video . I have a BMW 3-Series Saloon 318i Sport Plus Edition 4d 2012/12 . It Cranks but does not start. Fuses are Good but they say it needs replacing the Fuel Pump . Is there any way to test it before replacing ??
I had the same problem a year ago. Fuel pump changed and all good. However you won’t know the mileage of the pump your buying unless it’s brand new. If it’s secondhand it’s bound to go out after a year or two
Looks easy cause Fuel pumps on an army truck I worked on are tough and you have to take off a lot of other random shit to get to it and the angles are weird!!

I have question my bmw e90 engine n46b20 this morning won't star so i cheked the first the relays, fuse and then they were ok, so i thing in my case wolud be the fuel pump or the fuel filter. Also when i try to star and then go behind the car there is rarely odor coming out, i dnt know how to describe but i was like old gasoline, if you could help me i will apreciated your advices. Thanks
Hey my friend is working on his bmw and bought two fuel pumps now just installed it again because the first time the code didn’t go away and now this time on the other one he bough (2nd fuel pump) the codes not going away but the car isn’t doing anything like it seems perfect just the code isn’t going away it’s a 2009 bmw 328i
I dont get the filter part. Does 3 series get two fuel filters? I have a long cylindrical fuel filter beneath the floor. What is the thing you are replacing while calling it filter?

Hello, I just try to remove the driver side fuel filter. But when I remove the black fuel pipe, the fuel came out and it didn't stop like there is still remianing pressure inside. (04:17 in video) do you know why it happened? should I disconnect the battery before doing this?

Another way to relieve pressure is to pull the fuel pump fuse and try to start the car them

Hi Steven. Can you give us more details as to why they want to remove the tank for a fuel pump repair? We have never heard of such a thing.
I forget exactly what part it is (not pressure regulator or pump obviously)...but there is a part where a fuel tank replacement needed.
bit more clarity would help everyone here.. Maybe next time when asking for help be more specific about what exactly you need help with...
