Why not just offer a way to unlock the phone with your Apple ID and password, instead of erasing everything?

Apple I have a question! When we forget the passcode, wouldn’t it be much easier to just enter the following when asked by the system: Apple ID, Apple email, personal, email, personal phone number, or similar that’s already attached to each user’s account, instead of restarting and going through all these other things you mentioned? And you also have other means of authentication like fingerprint and Face ID within each iPhone, so why not use these as well? I mean is just a thought. Thanks 😊
If someone forced u to have ur face or thumb scanned they could just get in that way thats why n passwords can be leaked so i guess its more secure for ur data and private information like for example if someone had photos or vids where they are nude u wouldnt want someone to leak them because ur login details got leaked

I have a question for Apple. Somehow I managed to change a setting that required a password to use my face ID. For whatever reason the password it was now making me use was not the password that I have used since I bought my iphone. So I followed the steps to wirelessly reset my iphone using the ios 16 and earlier method. I know my apple id and apple id password but when I try to transfer my data back to the same phone it asks for the old password again. I was wondering if I am missing something or if there genuinely is no way for me to recover my data.
does this method require the pc to hve tha apple id logged in already?
In my case i forgot my passcode and apple ID password. I had to reset my apple ID and reset iphone with erase and then it asks me for previous passcode to restore my backup. It's my WTF moment of needing old pascode to restore my backup when i forgot my passcode first place. HELP !!!!!

Apple what's is your phone is not connected to WIFI ? And the forgot password option is not there ? It's telling me to wait one hour to try attempt the passcode again ? And also I didn't forget the passcode the phone is the one that forgot my passcode .

Hello, have a good time. My phone's memory was full and I couldn't switch to iOS 17, then some apps stopped working. And I turned the phone off and on several times. and the pictures on the phone disappeared. then I deleted some programs and downloaded the new version to the phone. now the photos take up 221 GB. But I can't see my photos or videos in Photos. Can someone help me??

My mom fix his iPhone 14 Pro not doing the steps here’s how he did it first my sister disabled her phone then she waited for two minutes and it was fixed
I did a manual reset (lock screen button + volume down button) and i connected it in restore mode to my pc , while having the apple devices app on my pc and connected the phone to my cable , then it gave couldnt restore data error. It asked my passcode asked to verify passcode but then it says iphone unavailable wait 1 hour. I tried doing the same thing again , but it doesnt work , there is no button anymore that says forgot password or erase , only iphone unavailable , then password , verify and it gives iphone unavailable again

If it's an old phone and without a SIM card. It may not be restored at the last second. I finally made it by plug in a SIM card into the Phone again.

face ID is not working when forgot passcode. It's a BUG
More of a limitation, your internal storage is encrypted with your pin so it can't be opened with your face because your device doesn't know the correct passphrase either so it can't open it. Same reason why you can't just log in with your Apple ID. Once you unlock your phone once the storage is decrypted so you can use biometrics
i changed my phone passcode to an alphabetical one and the type keys on the phone where so small that i kept typing the wrong one😭
