This game is a combination of Wangan Midnight and Kaido Battle. It has so much potential. And then, Eutechnyx's physics is a problem.
Cars are too much slippery when initiating drifting
Even some AWD cars are way better for drifting than your contemporary RWD cars
I feel ya. That's the only downside this game has, that freaking physics engine makes a number of aspects in the game poor to play.
Fun fact : Pimp My Ride game also uses the same engine as this game

The best FAF game ever. This game has authentic JDM parts brands and garages even some of the drivers in the game were on D1 and FD. This is NFS became today. Underatted gem of all racing games.
Notes:
- The Honda cars are only available in the US version of the game.
- The NSX-R GT and Z33 Type E are models designed to homologate themselves for JGTC (Peugeot also did the same with the 206 GT for the WRC). What rare inclusions.
There's also the C6R corvette endurance winner

It amazes me seeing concept cars of models that already went into production, such as the Lexus LFA and the Evo X Rallyart (the hatch one) that featured on this game
I remember I'm playing this on my PS2 and already stuck on the first area rivals because I didn't choose the good starter car. Then I played the PSP version and somehow progress really, REALLY, much further than the PS2
the PSP made the first hotspot so much easier to complete because of the changed routes. Warren was the tough OP car for me in the early game because of his car's 400 BHP rating at stock. Eventually I managed to beat him.

The corvette z06, viper, mustang gtr & shelby gt500 concept is my main cars. This f & f game & nfs carbon, are my go to retro racing games
The sheer attention to detail put into this game only for it to be just "meh" in practice is so frustrating... The customization's extensive, the car list is a great mix of obscure concepts, non-top-end trims (A rarity in racing games) and USDM cars.
They even went as far as accounting for the exact regional variations of the movie cars (Slap Jack's Supra is a US-market "Twin Turbo" and not a Japanese "RZ", and the Tokyo Drift cars are all the JDM versions), that's some serious dedication! This might even be the only non-Japanese game with a stock 4-door R34, since not even the Gran Turismo games have it.
Man, this game is just screaming for improvement mods

Correction, there 1 evo 7, 3 versions of the evo 8, and 4 versions of the evo 9, sure they don't look too different one from each other but they are not the same model

Best racing game ever along with nfsu 1&2 in my childhood, i used to play online all the time had a old charger made into a orange general lee and never lost a drift battle online, the customization was insane

Also there aren't career mode.

@@mackalan Wrong, you can modify cars on Fast and Furious Fugitive, on anothers games and mostly of them have a career mode with story and cutscenes. Mobile phones doesn't have split screen back in the 2000s because doesn't are a console game.
The Chevy Chevelle SS454 is ridiculous for drifting at stock level but is very easy to spin out while doing so

Ah yes, so many memories as a kid. Remembered how cool the LF-A Concept was, just couldn't finish all 32 drift events as a kid back them to unlock it. I'm still playing this game even today, and have the same issues as a kid: crazy uncontrollable wallriding if you attempted to get around a hairpin bend above 55 mph 😂😅

a good roster is determined by the variety of cars not the amount of cars available, would you rather 700 cars but all of them are exotics that performs identical, or 250 cars but featuring different types body shape, trim level, and even you can find your real life car in a videogame!
The nsx-r was a beast
its weird some of the obvious cars that are missing despite the amount of rare and inspired picks in this game that suggest they really did their research. a good amount of hondas but no ek type r or preludes, a ton of r34 variations and damn near every silvia variant from s13 onwards but not a single r32 or r33, two chasers (which are rare even in japanese racing games not named TXR, let alone western games) but no soarers or celicas or pre mk4 supras or older mr2s. still a v cool car list but its got me asking questions

i wish they would bring back Tokyo extreme racer series from the dead (done right mind you) sure it sort-of lives on in japan under meany different names but its just not the same.

I remember my first pick car in this game was RX-7 Infini, I had it fully performance upgraded before racing the first boss that fast blue RX-8. But I still lost at that last long straight, it turns out the short ratio racing transmision what holding me down. So I dump it to the stock transmision and I went flying beating that first boss, and I'm happy 😆. And then my second car was Mitsubishi Concept-X, that thing is a boat can't even turn properly (was mistake purchase). And the drift race is hella twichy, I remember barely passed the minimum point to pass

Swap to the stock trans to get full top speed of any car, racing trans just have better acceleration
