Genki also helps making Namco's Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune series. Hence reused SFX for blow off valve, time about running out (now used for 1 KM left to goal), and race countdown
I think the sound team for this game was a department of namco, remember this was also an arcade game published by namco (not just wangan midnight r but this game too)

Man, I wish the intro song (Hit it by Daiki Kasho) got an actual music without sound effects. I also love the car select music, really haunting and yet beautiful. (Also 4:23 for Yellow Evo V)

I agree. I want them to release a new game to North America too. Ngl I hope Sony buys out Genki & has them revive Tokyo Xtreme Racer/Shutokou Battle as a Playstation exclusive competitor to Forza Horizon.
@@rabbidcrazy787 That would be a dream come true but an unlikely one. I don't think they realize how successful these games would be today, Japanese car culture is way more popular today than it was back then and there's such a thirst of their style of game now. They will sell millions easy. Perhaps it mostly comes down to them being a small studio and modern gaming needing so much resources. I just wish they could come back somehow.

Ah seeing this game make me remember my time at the arcade with this series.
Last time i played Wangan Midnight arcade game was WMMT 5 and 6.
All the cars on PS2 Wangan Midnight 2001 are surprisingly amazing especially Akio Asakura's Devil Z.
Genki uses TXR0 engine for WM PS2, SS for PSP, and ITC for PS3 (which ironically is only released on Xbox 360)

Nah forza has interiors , engine models ,but the car models were amazing for its time and cars sound good af especially the turbo sound
