This is one of those intros i never skipped. Hot damn I wish this game got a remake/remaster; granted I saw AC was doing the Shotokou Revival Project, but yeah. This game was awesome back in the day for blasting down the highways!
I really loved this game as a kid, the music has been stuck in my head for over 19 years. Even after discovering gran turismo, I'd still come back to play this for that real street racer vibe, and those sick tunes.

There are so many cars in this game that no other TXR games have more cars until TXR3 & TXRD2 came along......and from seeing gameplay videos I'm loving it......

@@hybridAbsol No, they really aren't licensed, if you look closely all of the cars have fake logos, and the fact that you can change the code number is also a giveaway.

One of my favorite PS2 racing games. Compared to later TXR games, this by far has my favorite car roster. Since the cars aren't fully licensed vehicles, they could getaway with much more creative modifications for the boss vehicles. Like the Mitsubishi 3000GT Ferrari 280 GTO clone. I really should go back and finish up all the rivals of this game so I could unlock every single available car.

Being USDM means it's always forgotten since there are sportier Jp ver and Eu ver, but still a nice car.😁 And I like the styling of it's taillight. It's unique but not somehow works well.
It's actually the "Asis-Pacific version" so it's also very common in some part of Asia. My dad had one, it's my childhood in a nutshell.😇
The bio scrolling under even says the car is very popular in America. I wish they had an xv20 Camry or a Maxima, they had manual versions back in the day

I still playing txr zero and txr3(both Japanese version) on pcsx2 , and First game Shutoko Battle 94 Keichii Tsuchiya Drift and some shutoko battle game were played by my dad 😂

This game was soo sick. I liked grantrismo 2 at the time but this game was better. It had street racing instead of having to race on tracks. U were able to mod the bodies of cars, which u couldn’t in grantrismo. The only things that would of made this game better at the time was if the cars actually had the real names, if they were up to spec like in grandtrismo and if the performance mods were more detailed like in grandtrismo. But besides that this game was the shizz!

Is it just me who thinks that the car models look uncanilly similar to the ones used in Initial D Arcade Stage ver. 1 to 3? Given the early TXR games were made for Sega Dreamcast it sorta makes sense that they share 3D models but theres no definite proof...

Can someone explain the classes to me?
Each of the vehicle classes cater to a specific range of vehicles. Class A are the higher end vehicles that output a lot of HP when tuned but cost a lot. This class has most of the boss/special vehicles from defeating certain rivals. Class B is the middle of the road vehicles. Some of the vehicles here are the lower end models of the vehicles in Class A, with their price tag not being as high as the ones seen in Class A and have lower HP output compared to Class A. Class C is the lower end vehicles, having mostly comprised of "ordinary" vehicles as well as retro cars with low HP output and low price tags.
Due to the rival system of this game (and others in the series), some rivals (and teams) won't race you if you're not driving a specific kind of vehicle or class vehicle. Generally you don't really need to bother with the lower class vehicles if you have the funds for Class A vehicles, but due to the rival system you'd still need to use Class B and C if you wanna 100% complete the game. In later games, they've stopped using the class system for the vehicles once they got the actual rights to use the real cars.
