    Great video, Nate. I see a lot of things I'm doing wrong. The problem is that I don't know that I'm doing it until you demonstrate it. Then I realize, oops, I do that. A lot of great tips. I'll just have to be aware, but that's why when I sing, I have to practice A LOT.

    I would really like to learn how to sing. I play the guitar well and lead worship but don’t have the greatest of voices. So I would like to increase my range to worship god with all I have. I feel that God is calling me to be the next ‘Sean Feucht’ with his ministry ‘Let us worship’ but I’m my own country. I feel that I have a gift of worship which I need to maximize and get right to be able to follow through with the vision god has given me.

      That’s awesome. Well, let me know if there’s any way I can help. We have a course which goes through vocal technique which you might be interested in (called Vocal Groundwork).

    Hello,
    My question is how do you keep your tongue from clinching up or rolling up in the back blocking the throat. can you provide an exercise on how to stop this bad habit, please? thank you and God bless you for posting these vocal videos.

    • @WorshipRefocus
      @WorshipRefocus  Před 3 lety

      Hi! What I would work on in this case is to make sure that your tongue is always touching the back of your bottom teeth whenever you sing. Then, I would do some warm ups on an Ah vowel while focusing on that (a simple 5 note major scale or Descending 5 Notes on a major scale would be great). Then once you get used to your tongue behind your teeth, try to begin a yawn and then maintain the feeling of a beginning of a yawn (what you are doing here is raising your soft palate) as you sing the same Ah vowel on a simple warm up. When you do this yawn, it will help to open up your throat and create space in the back of your mouth... which will in turn help lower your tongue as you sing. Finally, keep reminding yourself to stay relaxed as you sing and be aware of any tension you feel in your tongue or jaw. You can get access to some of the warm ups I was talking about in the Free Vocal Technique Mini-Course. Or, if you choose to enroll in the Vocal Groundwork Course at some point, the Module 2 on resonance and having an open throat would likely help with this and give you some more specific exercises on this. Hope this helps!

    Watching this is an answer to my prayers. I sing to give God the glory. I recently haven't been hitting the high note like I normally can. Thinking there was vocal damage I claimed there was not damage in Jesus name. Going through all of the suggestions on the internet then watch your video and this is confirmation of what the Lord was telling me. Every single point you focused on was what the Lord has been telling me. He doesn't want us to stress out when we are singing for Him because in Heaven they are rejoicing no matter how well we can hit a note but in the world we can help lead others to the Lord with our voice. My daily prayer is to be His vessel. Watching this video told me exactly what the Lord wanted me to hear because He's been telling me and directing my steps in these things the past year. This was the confirmation. Thank you for being His vessel. In Christ ✝️🙌🏽❤️

    I find out that I can't hit the high notes in the morning and maybe the songs I chose for practice for the Sunday service require me to. What's usually wrong

    • @WorshipRefocus
      @WorshipRefocus  Před 3 lety +1

      That’s very common. It takes a person’s voice about two hours to “wake up” once a person is awake. And it helps to warm up your voice during the two hour time block before singing at a church service. Or… simply choose songs in a slightly lower key if you can. 😉

    • @wilfrednganga6370
      @wilfrednganga6370 Před 3 lety

      @@WorshipRefocus So basically I should wake up two hours to ministering?
      Any drinks you recommend?

    • @WorshipRefocus
      @WorshipRefocus  Před 3 lety

      @@wilfrednganga6370 right, that would be ideal. Sometimes it’s hard to do that… but it is optimal to give your body time to wake up. I like to drink tea with lemon, honey, and ginger. I usually drink coffee on Sunday morning, but that isn’t good because it dehydrates my voice… and it’s acidic. So, either just water or some tea is probably better. 😉 haha
