It's funny watching Tom and Dave sit there and talk about how it's important to constantly hone the craft - meanwhile, Bert is getting ready to squeal laugh, take his shirt off, and scream "THE MACHINE!" for the 10,000th time in his head.
Dave has such a pure soul, just a real dude.
He's never and will never, be anything to appease others. He's a real masculine man and people forgot what that even looks like. He's even said he won't do massive venues because it takes away from his genuine self. Always been a club comic.

As a fan, arenas and even most theaters suckkkkk... Sitting shoulder to shoulder like you're watching a football game. I don't know exactly how to explain it but it's a really detached feeling from the show/comedian. You're sitting in a pool of people, some talking and not even paying attention. It's just odds, you put that many people in one area and some of them will be terrible. When you're in the middle of the crowd your experience feels more dictated by the crowd
For comedy, the hangout energy of a club feels so much better than the event feeling arenas bring

I saw Attell on the Fully Loaded tour at Baltimore CFG Arena, and it was an incredible show. It felt more like a KISS concert at moments, and was a fantastic evening with my buddies. Looking forward to seeing Dave again next month.

@@BasedGod-ey5ee Chappelle is, arguably, king of an era. Like Murphy, Rock, Williams. Attell is the Godfather of the New York comedy scene. Kills it at the biggest clubs and has been doing so for decades. He's like the Bowery King character in John Wick, not a TV or general fan legend.
Louis CK very talented and reached rarefied air in comedy before fall. He's never been as big as Chappelle and never been as good in the clubs as Attell. Definitely talented but weird to group him in on this. If going for fame, why not Kevin Hart? If "edgy whiteish guy angst that hits a valuable demographic" why not Bill Burr or Daniel Tosh or Larry David?
If you go see Attell at Comedy Cellar in New York, you'll see his place in the hiearchy and why these "bigger" comics sucking up to him sincerely.
