  • The Red Wing 4522 Briar Oil Slick is the GREATEST boot Red Wing has ever made! First of all it is made with the Briar Oil Slick leather which is quite versatile. Next the Nitrile Cork sole is tough and last longer than the Vibram Mini-lug. After all that...the boot is leather-lined - - WOW!

    Hey CJ, thank you for your videos, they're very helpful. I bought my first pair of RW 3 days ago (Rover 2951). I measured 10.5 on the brannock device but always wear a 10 on my regular sneakers which fit perfect, it's confusing and misleading I guess. I ended up purchasing a 9D and walked around the store to be extra sure the fit was perfect, I even tried the 8.5 but they were too tight and could not wiggle my toes enough.
    After 2 days of use I developed blisters on my heels and I can feel a little slip on the back of the shoe, is this normal? I'm planning on buying a heel protection insert and extra thick work socks, I don't struggle putting on the boots, they fit like a glove, they're not too tight or loose, any recommendation? Thank you.

    • @CJCook
      @CJCook  Před 5 lety

      Hey Nino,
      The 2951, very nice...I don't give that boot enough feet time. So what you are experiencing is natural. It is currently happening to me on my 87519 (the irritation) on the heel. A wool sock will help to break-in and soften that leather. The slip on the back is a bit concerning though. A boot should fit snug.

      @pcm1ke Před 4 lety

      Nino Varela how did you make out after a month? I’m following you... just ordered my first pair of RW and went with the 2951 in 9D. The store only had IRs to try on for size so I tried both a 9.5 and then specifically went against the guy helping me and asked to try a 9. In the store the 9 was really snug and the 9.5 slightly looser, but what made me go with the 9 was when I would bend the boot at the toes the 9.5 would kill the underside of my big toe at the joint, whereas the 9 didn’t hurt at all and felt like it bent at just the right point. I figure the “really snug fit” of the 9 would loosen up over time to become “the perfect fit.” Fingers crossed! They should be here Tuesday of next week. I’m going to order some benjos laces and I’ve already got an offer in on some 8111s on eBay. I kinda want both the rovers and IRs, but I’d rather not spend the money on two new RWs in a day 🤣

    • @ninovarela8535
      @ninovarela8535 Před 4 lety

      @@pcm1ke hey, I went back to the store and exchanged the 9's for the 8.5's, they just did not feel right but it all depends on the shape of your feet, the 9's might work out for you, try not to wear them outside for the first 2 days, wear them indoors just in case you want to return/ exchange them.
      Exchanging them for the 8.5's was the best decision I made even though they felt tighter at the beginning (wearing a thin sock) they did stretch over a few days and now I can even wear thick wool socks.
      I wear a 10 on sneakers and was surprised I had to downsize that much but again, we're all different.
