Wow. I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.
Keep us updated on your new jackets!
Iron ranger in alpine green would be crazy! Im so used to they're limited edition that i didn't thought of that. Especially Munson ranger would look stunning in that, at least in my mind
I agree on your comments about Redwing. It’s disappointing for such an iconic brand to not have a full Pecos line with rough out leathers, engineers or design a new western boot all together. Good to see you going back to your roots with the RW review lol.
welcome back bro... good to see you back on here.... much love for you.
Put out more vids man, they're great!
I think I'm with you on the moc toe quotient. They just seem so bulky in comparison to the blacksmith or even the iron ranger which i consider to be a bulky boot already with the layered to cap. I haven't worn my 10875s in forever!
Still stylin my roughnecks which I purchased for Buffalo winters after watching your video CJ. I get compliments all the time on them and they are wearing like steel. Sorry to hear about your recent life changes CJ, that's gotta be a tough decision. I feel like you have a strong circle of friends in NYC and I'm sure you will be leaning on them as we all do during difficult times. Be well brother and keep rockin those Red Wings with style.
Been binge watching all of the videos over and over again, i gotta say that my boy CJ has got some style. Been on Ebay and picked up 2 vintage boots. We need a full tour of all your current boots my man.....
I totally agree with Redwings missed opportunities. It was nice to see you do a Redwing review again, a bummer to hear about your absence from the brand but i think the triple stitch callout made up for it. I just picked up a pair of 3340’s and had my 2406’s resoled.
I’m loving them even more than i thought i would. They have reignited my excitement for boots!
I haven’t bought a pair of red wings in awhile. I’ve been more into the Pacific Northwest boots of late (Truman, Whites, and Nicks), but I agree it would be cool if Red Wing would do something different for the US market. An engineer would be cool, or even something like a monkey boot.
@@CJCook for as big as red wing is and how vertically integrated they are, I’m surprised they haven’t created a made to order heritage line.
made to order would be a blast... but I guess that´s just too complicated for them to organize...@@AJ-by6pd
Very good point. They should have released it in the iron ranger and blacksmith and engine boot. I just wish they would do an 8in iron ranger again
Vibez... I was wondering when you'd give us another video, thank you!
You need a pair! They look great with those navy (looks black) chinos. I actually like the moc toes, haven’t worn this style since I was a kid in the ‘60s, because I don’t like the light color soles. When the green came out with black soles I had to order a pair. The are super comfortable and broke in after only wearing a few times. I added four rows of speed hooks and dyed the leading “raw” edges next to the eyelets black and they look sharp. I’ve gotten plenty of complaints almost every time I wear them. It would be nice if Redwing made a matching casual belt… BTW, I have the Blacksmiths in black and copper rough and tough, and the Iron Rangers in amber harness… not to mention several other boots and shoes. The green are my new favorite.
Excellent work adding speed hooks! Yes, good call on a matching belt. You have a nice boot collection.
I’ll have CJ know that I bought the Prairie Black moc toes last weekend (owned the Briar Slicks since 2019). The Prairie leather is a different beast with regards to break-in…sheeesh😂
Engineer in That green Leather would be great.
Hey man! That sucks about the divorce, I hope it wasn’t the boots 😂. I like those green moc toes. They look good with the black. I agree, more styles would have been nice.
I personally love these boots it’s my favorite silhouette and color
Glad you’re back CJ! Hey in this video you state you are a 10.5 brannock and a size 9 in moc toe.
If you don’t mind me asking what size do you wear in an iron ranger?
Wanting to ask since I wear an 8EE in iron ranger but the slate mule skinners only come in D widths. I’m a 9.5E brannock. Thanks!
Hey CJ, I recently got into redwings and like your videos. What have you personally found works best to keep Copper Rough & Tough healthy? I just got them to wear as a simple city boot, so I don't need tons of protection, I just want the leather to last a long time. Thoughts?
Edit: I have Bick 4 already, should I stick with that?
Bick 4 is good.
Red Wing's Leather Conditioner is good.
Lexol is really good as well.
Thank you for watching!
He’s back🤭☺️🙏
A pure white chore is going to give doctor / lab coat vibes. Hope things work out!
I purchased a white Carhartt chore coat about 5 years ago. It is unique. I can understand your thoughts on the doctor/lab coat. That is cool, I will give free mammograms!
Triple stitch!!!
All the best !
Triple stitched?
Red Wing needs to bring certain things back,an Engineer , an unlined classic logger
Hola!
Si, yo entiendo. Muchas gracias por ver mis vídeos. Felicidades por tu colección de botas. 👏🏾👏🏾
i think these are red wings best looking boot to be honest. i bought one.
Just started watching your videos. are alot of your boots Dead stock? are these to wear or to collect?
These are nice but Briar Oil Slick Blacksmiths are back in stock online!
you mentioned the engineers, i have been waiting for them to make any kind of engineers for quite a few years now, perhaps other countries have gotten them. what is the deal with why they have so few usa made heritage models?
Red Wing vendors in the U.S. don't know their clients. Unfortunately, RW U.S. makes most of their money from work boots. They cater to the work boot customer and feed the heritage customer crumbs.
Another know it all
Came for the Red Wing videos, but stuck around for the content in general lol
Where did you get the jacket your wearing?
@@CJCook it had to be because I haven’t seen a chore coat close to that anywhere, looks good and good luck on your new chapter
That was plenty of compliments NOT complaints 😂
Agreed on the Alpine. It's a teacore how I have seen it age. My problem is I would have wanted them for a 8" moc toe (old hunter style) or like you said a Blacksmith would have been fire!
It would be my choice for a Munson as well. The black traction tred was a win though, I am not a fan of 6" moc toes though. The fit for me personally has always been awful.
YES! They modeled these after an 8" boot from their archives. They should have just recreated that boot. They would have felt special.
@@CJCook Agreed! I am a huge sucker for vintage! Maybe they didn't want to deal with the D Rings? If memory serves me the original had those and a few of the older ones had a padded collar as well.
Could have been truly special though!
@@CJCookHey CJ, you have more experience than me. I would love some advice.
I recently found someone who does bespoke cowboy boots, ropers, or loggers. He makes a custom last, cuts the pattern to you and skives the leather as needed, see’s where you put your weight, toe measurements, low in-step, high in-step, ankle to heel, legs to 16”. I plan to go the extra mile and pickup my own insole and heel stack leather, as well as the hide itself.
What I am getting at is I have experience with loggers. But I would love to know if I went outside my comfort zone should I get cowboy boots or ropers?
He doesn’t want me to draw attention to him on social media by the way. I respect that. He is in his late 70’s to mid 80’s. I ran into him actually dropping off boots for a resole. He learned to make boots in Oregon in 1972. He spent nearly 3 hours measuring me because he noticed something was off with the way my boots fit. He noticed from the pair I dropped off and the pair I was wearing.
I have known for sometime ready to fit wasn’t right for me. He said my bones made it harder to measure but it’s done. I loved the professionalism and his attention to detail.
I know what to do for the loggers. I am simply debating the cowboy or the roper. I walk around 10 miles a day for my job. I work in a warehouse.
My measurements are something else and he is willing to open a slot for me this year. Any advice? I know you have a ton of experience with everything so I appreciate the insight.
@@Vultain I would have ropers made as well. Ropers are a good compromise and are comfortable.
yes, it´s been a long time. Sorry to hear of that kind of change... but as Sidney Pollack said in Eyes Wide Shut, Life goes on, it always does, until it´s over.
I got the green alpine mocs and like them a lot in combo to my Barbour and green Mackinaw Cruiser.
Where do you let your jackets be custom made?
All the best from Frankfurt, where the first Red Wing Store outside of the US was opened in 1977...
I don’t really care for how Moc Toes look either, but I bought a pair of 875s on a whim just because they are classic Red Wing. They are so damn comfortable I wear them often despite how I feel about them looks-wise. If I know I’m going for an extra long walk those are my go to pair.
You planning to sell all your RW now or did you keep a few of your favorites anyway?
Bummer about your divorce. Life goes on.
I have sold off many many Red Wings.

I am in a better place, way better! 🙏🏾
wow long time since a new red wing review! Sorry for the divorce man. In my experience bouncing bac after a long time relationship can be rough for some. Just keep your head up and something even better will come into your life.
Saw a reaction video posted about the tik tok video you dropped in reference to your ex. Sorry to see your marriage ended. I was married for 13 years and had a similar occurrence to what you went through. Its rough at first but gets better once you realize you can do so much more in life when you aren't with someone that can't fully appreciate you. Join a gym to help you with those low days and keep your head up bro. We've all been there. God bless.
ehh, i like those green boots, especially since it looks like they will darken with age and wear
Beautiful red wine 😊😊 bosku
Sorry to hear about the divorce. I have faith that everything will work out in the end. I would buy green blacksmiths. I can't get on board with moc toes. Way too much instep and visual weight for me.
Thank you. I am in a much better place, thank goodness. Yeah Alpine Blacksmiths would be glorious!
Umm im pretty sure they still can do all those things you talking about, they might just be waiting. You never know...
Good bye Redwing fans!
I'm a red wing fan, but I guess I'm a fan of his content first lol
First comment
It's about time you came out with a 🆕 Video 🎥 I was having the CJ Blues 🔵
i hope you have a happy divorce and more boot reviews to come
never understood why the redwing moc toes are so popular. they only look good brand new on the shelf. on foot they look way too big even when its your right size. soon as you wear them in, the sole wears down so quick and the toe permanently sticks upward. they look ridiculous lol literally look like a clown. understandable if they were designed as a work boot but these heritage models don't even have steel toes lol. the heritage models need to be re designed and refined for fashionable aesthetics
What is the point of reviewing boots that you don't want of care about?
I don't buy Red Wing boots, I don't wear Red Wing boots anymore.... what can I say, it's a regular Moctoe.
Saying it's a fail because they didn't make them in 5 different styles and then in the next breath say guys don't want green boots, sounds like sour grapes my man.
Dude ! Have you seen the double shot leather from Seidel ? It’s the best !
I can't believe its been 4ish years since I've started watching your vids. Keep up the great work!
thank you for continuing to watch!
