We’re entering an era where the running back position is rapidly devaluing, and teams are quickly learning to stop throwing big-money contracts at these guys.
For most of the 2000s and 2010s, NFL teams had to have a 1,000-yard running back to succeed. It was practically mandatory, and that’s why so many of these guys were taken early in the first round.
But running backs, for the most part, are hit and miss. Every NFL draft class features at least one RB draft bust. Here is the biggest one from each year dating back to 2000.

TPS: Are you a running back?
Player: Yes...
TPS: BUST!
Player: But I have a Rookie of the Year and and 1000 yards running.
TPS: How was your second year?
Player: I got hurt...
TPS: BUST! BUST!
They are grasping at straws
He called Damion Harris a bust when the patriots didn't even use him his rookie year how does that qualify as a bust when he hasn't been used lol.. ?
Patrick Sims If he’s not good enough to be used regularly that’s a bust dude
Patrick Sims he had 2 RBs ahead of him who were already established, he was supposed to be the starter this year but got hurt before the 1st week
@@BigJonahJ based on that comment you know very little about football and you shouldnt be making comments. do you know how many good players have had to sit on the bench a few years before playing. by your logic aaron rodgers is a bust right? i mean he wasnt good enough to be used regularly early in his career. isnt that how you define a bust so i guess you think he was a bust. what about alex smith who was absolutely trash for the first few years of his career? once he figured it out and took his beatings on the field carved out a nice career. list goes on
Would you consider someone that can’t play because of injuries successful?
“Even though Moreno was a huge part of a point record setting team and went to the super bowl he is a bust”😂
I think you mean Mar-lon Mack right. Not Marion
thank god someone noticed
And Montee Ball not Bell
@@grabo917 he didn't say bell he said ball but he did mess up he said Montae ball instead of montee ball
Jalon Roberts his name is actually pronounced montae

Vid idea: every NFL offemsive coordinator from worst to first
rashaad penny hasnt been a bust, he may have not been used to his full potential because of chris carson but he has been very useful to the seahawks
Our OC also doesnt know how to maximize his talent
Or JD McKissics' skill set either
Really its a bad OC more than a bust
Seahawks gameplan is basically 5 run plays from a madden playbook and then realize you need to put the ball in Wilson's hands when you're down hy 2 scores
@@Lukasafer i know, they have 2 great runningbacks but they have a greater quarterback, let wilson do what he can do and they can be superbowl champs, i think pete carrol is aware though
Wel right now he’s a bust
@@bobjones8197 no,hes good, he may have not been used to his full potential but hes been helpful and makes great plays
Ezekiel Elliott: 2614 yards 22 TDs
Leonard Fournette: 1479 yards 14 TDs
Saquon Barkley: 2310 yards 17 TDs
Rashaad Penny 789 yards 5 tds

@Lewis 970 he was a Heisman contender.
@Lewis 970 did he even get a chance tho
The Seahawks rbs were doing good,They all just got hurt
..thats true
Yeah
Is that all you Seahawk fans talk about omg
Cry Ryan 🤣🤣 What are you a browns fan or something?? 🤣
@@xXTheBetrayedXx well I'm far from a Browns fan you must be a really smart person to make a guess like that with no information are you just mad because I point out the obvious because it don't matter what post it's about all y'all talking about is all running backs with hurt blah blah blah blah blah
They should have stopped at 2018, you can't call a person a bust until they have played at least 3 years
Yea and let's label a rookie who hasn't even had a chance to practice yet a bust.
I disagree. Darius Guice. Full on bust
Can't have a good RB without a good O Line, i say focus on that and no matter who you put back there they will thrive
#FACTS
Unless It’s Barry Sanders
Ulas_Sar yep yep hence my Denver Broncos we had a great OLine back in Mike Shannahan era we could plug anyone behind them and they’d rush for a 1,000 yards. Terrell Davis was special Clinton Portis was a really good RB as well everyone else was decent but looked great behind our line ie Mike Anderson, Orlandis Gary, Reuben Droughns Tatum Bell etc.
Anthony Peters now you have Mike Munchak as the o line coach and was amazing for the Steelers. Plus Lindsey and Gordon you’ll be in good shape
Truth, you want to when champion ships run the ball, control the game and the clock
I’m feelin for Cadillac I tore my patellar tendon I can’t imagine tearing both that’s the most unlucky shit aye but ima bounce back I been rehabbing for about 7 months we almost there

Who wrote this on the teleprompter for you voice guy? 🤣 obviously you don’t watch football. You butchered like 7 names. A lot of these due to injuries. NFL isn’t a fairytale.
Not everyone is perfect
@@Bigolcheeser thanks Osama Bin Laden
@@MalunoMcSketch OBL seems like a good dude
I was wondering the same thing. Montay Bell? David Singletary? Procease? Marion Mack? Come on.
He didn't even mention Aaron Jones as a 5th round selection star when he was talking about the draft class
I can't keep watching this. The running back is such a disposable position in football. What you call a bust, I call a success as a human being. Dude's got their money without being bludgeoned into nothingness.
Marion mack... lol
You mean marlon Mack? Idk who Marion is if that’s his actual name lmao. I don’t think marlon Mack is a bust though.
Oh shit lmao. Nevermind. I’m dumb. They said that in the video. I thought you were Saying that lmao🤦🏼♂️

Video idea: Top 5 Ofenses and Top 5 Defenses for 2020!!!
number 1 offense: seahawks
number 1 defense: 49ers, unless they have a superbowl hangover
dont hate me for not saying the chiefs at number 1, i have my reasonable reasons
The Seahawks don't have an offensive line (I think)
@@mcfrickenwatcher195 as a chiefs fan, I'm listening. I don't think KC will be the #1 offense next year, top 5 yes but not #1 because of improved defense. No need to put Patrick at risk if there is no need to do so. I respect Russell future HOF. He is special. I am curious why you ranked the seahawks offense first. Metcalf is a potential pro bowl WR. Move ranking 9 to 1 in PF? How is that so? www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2019/index.htm#all_team_stats
@@cyancyclone5642 they upgraded it this offseason which is why i think theyll be number 1 offense
@@keon8426 i think seahawks will have best offense because of russel wilson, he carries the team every year, but hes never had a good Offensive line and hes only had a decent receiving core, but this offseason they upgraded theirOline, its not great now but tis definetly going to be better, probab ly like 18th in the league which is better than 30th which was their rank for 2019, or somewhere around 3o, so because of an imporved Oline i think russ will be much better, and also will dizzly is coming back healthy, tyler lockett had a slight injury that held him back so hes coming back healthy, DK metcalf is going to imporve because he was only a rookie, and colby parkinson is a freak of nature so he could have a good rookie year, with an already decent receiving core improving, and the Oline improving, i think russel wilson will be an incrdible QB and they will have the best offense in the league, they also added carlos hyde to their already great run game
You can’t call someone drafted in the 3rd round a bust
You forgot about Eddy Lacy eating his way out of a job.
He was really good.. he wasnt a bust.. his 3rd year is when he got hurt 4th year is when he started eating.. Ball was picked right before him in the draft and only had 700 or so yards in his career. Eddie Lacy had over 1000 his first 2 years.
Brent Kloosterboer I would almost put lacy im this just because of how good he was for 2 years and how epically he fell so quickly. He went from being a top 5 rb for a two year stretch to literally eating himself out of the league
this guy must have never heard of the names he’s mispronounced lol
If someone has a career filled w injuries they’re not a bust
Thank you
Bruh I dont agree with Rashad penny he is in a rb tandem with Chris Carson and doing well
He bin a little injury pron to start his career but yea he is actually pretty good and yes 3 other RB over there and he was only drafted what 2 years ago
It’s just were he was picked
This man said Marion Mack. It's Marlon
Video Idea: learn how to say the players names before making a video
2018 should have been Derrius Guice
Ok with 2020 I’m questioning JK Dobbins, not AJ Dillon. Green Bay needs a power running game to survive in the NFC North. Dillon seems like a great fit for them.
He pronounced so many names wrong
Damien doesn’t count,HE BARLEY GOT TO START MAN
That's what I'm saying😂 the patriots when they draft a rb almost never play the first season.
my guy said Marion Mack 🤣. great vid tho
Video Idea: make a video that doesn't have an insanely obvious error.
That's a tall order
What error
@@archierohden he doesn't know who Marlon mack is, he called him marion
Blake Hudson I doubt that
Archie Rohden you doubt that? Watch the video 😂
Jahvid Best joined US Olympic tack and field team...
says Saint Lucia on his jersey haha
Damn, irons could have been the greatest running back of all time but nobody ever gave him a chance.
I was really excited when he was drafted and liked what I was seeing, it’s a shame they didn’t really give him a chance after recovery
It seems like they are so out for the packers lol. No mention on Aaron jones in the 2017 RB class. And Dillon was drafted for next year since jones and Williams are in contract years... Gee thanks.
Football Addiction exactly. So what if they have 3 good running backs? Jamaal Williams isn’t essential and will get expensive, Aaron Jones is absolutely necessary, and Dillon can easily fill Williams role for cheaper. It’s basically what the 49ers did with Deforrest Buckner
*At **6:13**, Darren McFadden was not a 2000 Heisman Trophy finalist.*
I wasn't suprised when their was Cj Procise even when I'm seahawks fan
As a Notre Dame fan, he looked good and ready for the NFL and it was kinda sad that he wasn't able to play
Michael Bennett was fast asf
9:20 the way he said the Dallas COWBOYS 😹
2005 should be Cedric Benson!
Ron Dayne was a South Jersey Legend. He was a 100 meter champ that looked like a lineman. Watching high-school film, he would break off long runs all the time. But he always got stuffed in short yardage, even in highschool.
Maurice Clarettttt lmao
The disrespect of not mentioning Arron jones in the running backs of 2017
John Wayne he’s one of the best of the class, besides CMC
I mean that was a really good class, too much talent to name
Jacob Gomez I know, but Aaron Jones is still one of the best in the class
Ron Dayne reminded me that I might want to rethink throwing a late round flier at Jonathan Taylor.
A.J. Dillon is really here!?
Onterrio Smith for the Vikings. Went from the "SOD" steal of the draft to the whizzinator joke in 2003
I created a new dance during the 2007 season. I called it the Laurence Maroney Backfield Shuffle. The dance doesn't include shoulder pads or football contact.
On the bad side my niners drafted joe williams in the 2017 draft who never played a game with us, but we found brieda as a free agent
"Teams are quickly learning not to throw big money contracts at these guys"
Yet calls Dillon a bust when he hasnt played a snap yet due to Aaron Jones being a 1000+ yard rusher.. who is on his final year of his contract.. I think they dont want to "throw big money contract" at him..
This guy is an idiot he said Caddy Williams, K Moreno, Rashad Penny, and Mike Bennett were busts he obviously doesn’t watch football it’s crazy bc all of these guys either had terrible O Lines, 2nd string behind a 1k rusher or in a pass first offense when he said Dillion was a bust closed the app
Running backs drafted in the 1st round stats through their first 2 NFL seasons:
Ezekiel Elliott: 2614 yards 22 TDs
Leonard Fournette: 1479 yards 14 TDs
Saquon Barkley: 2310 yards 17 TDs
Rashaad Penny 789 yards 5 tds
You have to admit, Musa is a cool name.
Here we are in 2022 and Rashad penny is finally looking like a 1st round pick
video idea!!!! : every positions best nfl draft class since 2000
Hey TPS, when did you start research for this video, 2010? Donnell Pumphrey has the most rushing yards all-time now
Yeah... no, he's not. In fact, he is only third all-time.
Uh no. Lol
William Green came to my school last school year it’s really funny seeing this😂
Edwards Elsie is insaneeee
You should do the best hidden gem from every draft since 2000
This man mispronounced a lot of names lol
Not everyone is perfect
stfu nobody asked kid
Hoops Is Trash calm down
Damein Harris?!? The man saw almost NO snaps So how can you label Harris a bust that’s ridiculous
He saw no playing time because he was ass
JFP Entertainment totally not because there 3 OTHER PROVEN RUNNING BACKS ON THE TEAM?
@@nr_6170 bruh why you a bangwagon fan
BucsPats Merge then why would he get drafted then 🤷♂️ he’s ass
gera F I only like Brady and I’m defending a patriots player
Great video! Dillon, however will end up being one of the best running backs to come out of this class.
Pro Sports Outlook I agree, and not just because I’m a Packers fan. He’s a monster. The same traits that made Marshawn Lynch good are also in Dillon.
Gummies exactly! Look how the 49ers ran all over Green Bay in the NFC championship. In the playoffs, having a power running game is the way to go.
Pro Sports Outlook even not in the playoffs
I don't consider a player a bust if injuries plague them
I remember watching Ryan Williams at VA Tech. I was very disappointed when he became a bust. He was a monster with speed, a nasty burst and good hands. Injuries ruin so many careers.
he had a career ending injury hes not a bust
@@justinalley3399when you're a first round pick and have injuries derail your career, you unfortunately fall into that category.
Josh Drumheller if you become a journeyman after being drafted early is a bust. Showing promise and getting hurt is just unfortunate
Marion Mack 😂😂

You can now take Damien Harris off the list as he enjoyed a monster breakout year in 2020
You forgot kevin smith from ucf to the Lions

As a Bears fan: If Rashaan Salaam is not our RB bust, the list is broken.
Vid idea: I don’t know if u have done this yet but : biggest draft bust from every team from 2000-2020
You want them to name 600+ players in 1 video? The exact way you worded it would be a 10 hour video. I’m hoping you meant just “biggest bust from each draft class from 2000-2020”
stevesthename221 true
Trent Freaking Richardson, smh😡
"Jahvid Best ended up joining the US Olympic Track and Field team" as he represents Saint Lucia
😂😂😂
A 3rd round bust huh? Never heard of such a thing.
I feel that Cedric Benson needs to get the 2005 slot,he got selected before Cadillac and never really accomplished anything between the bears and Bengals
Jahvid Best wasn't on the USA Olympics track and field team. He was on the Santa Lucia Olympics track and field team. The country is shown on his uniform.
Marion Mack lmaooo
I met Kenny Irons in Birmingham, he autographed a football for me. He's a cool guy
Samaje Perine from the 2017 draft. 4th round
Ron Dayne was definitely NOT a bust. He was playing BEHIND tiki barber smh and THEN they tried to convert him to a FB. Knock it off. But you don’t have Peyton Hillis OR Brandon Jacobs on this list? Cmon man
Moreno wasn’t a bust he just got hurt left early like Calvin Johnson
How does Maurice Clearett not make the list. 0 career games played for a 3rd round pick lol...
Whoa Ron Dayne never even rushed for 800 yards?😯
Whoever rights these scripts should be fired because every list that you guys make, make no sense every time. You said Darren McFadden is a bust even though he had two 1,000 yard seasons, but guys such as CJ Spiller only had one.
You know, I was expecting Felix Jones be on this.
Same with Perry, the Bengals had Rudi Johnson.
It’s funny how the leading ncaa rushers are really good like Ricky Williams and Tony Dorsett. Really good players. Then there is donnell pumphrey
Do the biggest QB busts from 2000-2020
Giants didn’t get Dayne hoping he’d be a GOAT, we just needed a tough running back on 3rd down. We had Tiki and we thought very highly of him (even though he was the fumble god)
Marshawn Lynch isn’t a HoF back
Jahvid best did come back from being paralyzed in college tho at least give him that
13:17 Marion Mack 😂 it’s Marlon Mack
