    Description:
    Every NFL owner, coach, GM, player, scout and fan knows that the quarterback position is the most important in sports. It’s no wonder why teams always use high draft picks on a signal-caller. These guys can single-handedly change your franchise, after all.
    However, every NFL team has swung-and-missed at least once on using a high pick on a QB. I’m Mike Cantalupo, and today we present the biggest quarterback draft bust in the history of every NFL team.

      Jim Plunkett did not have a good team around him. The Patriots did not provide him with the personnel to thrive. No offensive line is the prime example.

      My takeaways from this:
      1. Art Schlichter's last name is pronounced "Shleester", not "Shlickter".
      2. Earl Morrall's last name is pronounced "Moral", not "Morale".
      3. I don't consider Tim Couch and David Carr to be "busts". They were drafted first overall to expansion teams, and they just had no chance on most of their dropbacks.

    • @bwill887
      @bwill887 Před 3 lety +17

      Agreed, but it was going to be Carr, especially for a team by team analysis. That said, Carr had nothing even close to a working O-line and had almost no time to let anything develop. Once the team got better, the beating he took during his earlier years created problematic habits. Basically, his failure is more on the team as a whole than Carr individually.

      @@STEVEHEROLD Banks was a journeyman from the worst quarterback draft for at least twenty years.
      One reason why I think that there should be a list of worst quarterback drafts ever is that such things as the 0-26 Buccaneers, the massive hype over Leaf, the 2-30 Lions and 6-42 Rams, and the 1-31 Browns followed upon terrible quarterback drafts and could potentially be related to them. If those teams had had available better quarterback classes - like if the Texans had began with the remarkably good 2004 and 2005 quarterback drafts or the Buccaneers with the 1971 or 1973 classes - they would have fared better at inception.

When the Browns went 10-6 in 2007, Frye started the opening week against the Steelers, faltered and was replaced by Derek Anderson. Frye was then traded to the Seahawks before the Browns week 2 game against the Seahawks. Anderson started the rest of the 2007 season, so he, not Frye, is, therefore, the GOAT. Right idea, wrong QB. But then there have been so many in Cleveland since 1999 it's certainly understandable they could be confused as they all tend to look and sound alike after awhile.
