  • Well that was a truly lovely surprise. Lovebites is quite an "old-school novelty" if you will, delivering a hot tempered classic form of metal wrapped up in a trendy Japanese style aesthetic, and we kinda really like it.

    LOVEBITES - Holy War lyrics:
Look at those black clouds, it’s going to rain blood
People live in fear, covered in mud
Singing oh Gloria to change the prophecy
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for sisters
There is a thousand, a thousand of evils
Hush, do not wake up Satan’s devils
Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for brothers
    Shining blade and burning heart
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Immortal soul, let there be light
    Into the Eye of Heaven
    Eagles at a holy war
    Fly higher than the sun
We are one for all and all for one forevermore
Kingdom of Heaven, never shall we fall
    Reincarnation, wait for your call
Singing oh, Gloria to change the prophecy
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for sisters
    Morning star and dying moon
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Mighty soul, let there be hope
    Into the Eye of Heaven
    Eagles at a holy war
    Fly higher than the sun
Stand up in the name of the God of heavy metal
What do we live for? What do we fight for, tonight?
But the world is beautiful, worth fighting for
Only have one thing on our mind
    Facing the fate, holy war
Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for brothers
    Shining blade and burning heart
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Immortal soul, let there be light
    Into the Eye of Heaven
    Eagles at a holy war
    Fly higher than the sun
We are one for all and for one forevermore
What do we live for? What do we fight for, tonight?
But the world is beautiful, worth fighting for
Only have one thing on our mind

Lovebites are nothing like Babymetal. Both are from Japan, but that's where the parallels stop, really. And I can tell you why I like them so much. I like them because they are excellent musicians and write great music. They have released three fantastic albums and three equally fantastic EPs so far. They have even been to Wacken. I couldn't care less about gender or a band's country of origin. I like a lot of Japanese music because there is simply a lot of great music being made in Japan. Some of it happens to be created by women. Not that it should come as a surprise, considering that Japan is the second-largest music market in the world. First even, when going by physical sales. It's a simple numbers game. You might want to check out Galneryus and Unlucky Morpheus as well. Two other metal bands from Japan I like a lot. Or how about Gallhammer? They were a female band as well.

      @thewindmillfullovcorpses  Před 2 lety +1

I mean after I heard it I no longer relate to the Babymetal comment, cos this is like actual heavy power metal and that one just... isn't. Gonna add the other bands you mention to our evergrowing list. /Andrei

    @LovebitesFanForLife Před 2 lety +25

Oh they have a lot more to offer than just a power metal style. They really hit hard in their thrash songs like "Break the Wall" or "Set the World on Fire". I would suggest the next song you do by them to be "Break the Wall" live. Use this link for the correct video: czcams.com/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/video.html

FYI - There is NO comparison to Baby Metal. The only thing in common is they are both from Japan. Baby Metal is a song/dance group backed by musicians that were put together by a corporation. Lovebites is a REAL band who write and play their own music and created a sound all their own. Yes they have an 80s vibe but they mix all those legendary styles together and created something new and refreshing - They combine the vocal power and bass playing of Iron Maiden, the guitar soloing prowess of Judas Priest, the heavy riffs of Slayer, and the speed of DragonForce all into one band.

    • @thewindmillfullovcorpses
      @thewindmillfullovcorpses  Před 2 lety +3

The Babymetal comment was made before hearing the song. To be honest I didn't know they were put together by a corporation but what I heard from them just didn't do it for me and it sounded kinda like an odd form of pop with some riffs on the background. This is heavy metal, power metal, thrash metal and whatever else they put in there and it's pretty awesome. I agree with all the band similarities you mention. There will be more Lovebites on our channel. /Andrei

Also funny that you mentioned Nightwish "Oceanborn" and Symphony-X "V". Two of my all-time favorite albums. No wonder I love LOVEBITES so much! They also remind me of Helloween, Keeper era! ( Drummer Haruna likes Helloween! ) Guitar player Midori likes Michael Romeo and Kiko Loureiro. Guitar player Miyako is influenced by Gary Moore and EVH. Bass player Miho is influenced by Steve Harris, as I am sure you could tell. So this band is literally the DREAM TEAM. Miyako is also an accomplished piano player, and composer. You barely got a TASTE of what this band can do. Do a search, and check out more of their stuff. Prepare to be blown away. WOLFPACK is HERE for LOVEBITES!

Well, i understand the initial confusion.
In Japan, like in a lot of countries you have at least "two kind of music groups". The ones who simply got together and do music, and the ones who are created by record labels.
Sure you have hear about "K-Pop", well, in Japan there´s J-Pop for a lot of years. Babymetal is an strange exception in this market. Yes, of course Suzuka have great voice, the musicians are awesome but the intended public are not the same.
Don´t get me wrong, Babymetal is really a great product. Crafted by very good professionals but is this, nothing else.
On the other side, Japan have a long tradition in rock and metal, starting in the eighties by the legendary metal band "X-Japan", they produce a lot of rock and metal bands. Also a lot of them "all female". Lovebytes is a recent band, there´s a lot more in this country and some of them are also awesome.
Again, Babymetal is a unique thing in the metal scene in Japan. A "metal band" created by a J-Pop producer (btw, a huge metal fan), but the usual thing in Japan are bands like Lovebites.
Like Lovebites, Galneruys, Mary´s Blood, Nemophila, Aldious, Destrose, Unlucky Mortheus, Luna Sea, Dir en Grey, Jupiter,,, anb the list goes on.
But japanese record labels don´t mind overseas market. They have a huge internal market and of course there´s the language issue.
And those are only a few on the metal market, they have also a lot of groups in the rock and hard rock. The music scene in Japan is alive and really big.
Oh, and the usual in those bands are awesome musicians.

You guys are funny. Understand your initial skepticism, but that makes it all the better. Welcome to the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics.
As you can see, they studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters.
This is one of their usual first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."
    More you should check out:
Their most recently posted live clips, “Set the World on Fire” czcams.com/video/99zsH6iG_6c/video.html and “Don’t Bite the Dust” czcams.com/video/oHnKGEj1CMc/video.html, which are both from their recently released concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”.
"Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: czcams.com/video/sl0-U-ykJCU/video.html They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope.
Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: czcams.com/video/lXh_uMM94jU/video.html.
Miyako is also a professional-level classical concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude”. Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: czcams.com/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/video.html; but if it is taken down, you can watch two clips back to back: czcams.com/video/hDBjiQI9cyc/video.html and czcams.com/video/uEsEWISc8Q0/video.html I promise, it’s worth it.
For a thrasher with heavy Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” czcams.com/video/G021aP2ao6Y/video.html includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M.
For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” czcams.com/video/1ynnXDfEnnY/video.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both)
Finally, while you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are three of the most spectacular:
    "When Destinies Align" czcams.com/video/hLFelI93VkM/video.html
    "Glory to the World" czcams.com/video/-wJtD2XEXH4/video.html
    "Winds of Transylvania" czcams.com/video/HsE4Ub_Pjh8/video.html.
You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

Yeah there are plenty of great bands from Japan at the moment: Lovebites, Unlucky Morpheus, Wagaki Band, Hanabie, Bridear, Asterism,... and they all get compaired with Babymetal and anime which is quite unfortunate because they don't sound like them at all. Yea, Babymetal are the source of a lot of negative prejudices when it comes to female Japanese bands. It is sadly the band most people check out first since it is for some reason the most well known, and it ends up preventing many from checking out the real female metal bands who are actually able to write their own songs and play their own instruments... Anyways, for something a little heavier but still all-female and from Japan, you could check out Nemophila. The classic first song is the "Dissension" music video. Or if you want something live, "Oiran (NAONのYAON2021)". Also, definitely your headphones mate, it is very, very well mixed. The first solo is almost exclusively mixed on the right ear, so maybe you had it set to mono? Or just broken I guess.
