Beautiful
I live in Mississippi. I have some nice sized petrified wood, but my neighbors have some that are tree trunks....large.
Some areas have really big pieces of petrified wood, but it all comes down to how well it was agatized. Utah is very much a mixed bag.
Awesome finds, I love petrified wood because it comes in such a wonderful variety of looks.
Agreed!
nice thats some nice pet wood , that big one is crazy , and happy birthday have a good one
Thank you!
Thank you
You're welcome
nice... thanks again, happy birthday.
Thank you too!
Very cool!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!
Thanks! and you are welcome!
I am loving these videos! Partly because it’s good to see you and partly because I love rocks! Great petrified wood!
Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your video. So went to get out there.
You are welcome!
Nice 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
Those little ones at the end are beautiful, before the montage
Agreed! It takes a little while searching to find the better ones, but they are definitely there in abundance!
It would be cool to see what's inside the big one. Have you thought about cutting it?
I have, but I am worried about it fracturing. I will probably need to stabilize it first, and I need to get a bigger saw
@@theruggedrockhound what do you mean stabilize? I'm guessing preventing it from falling apart. If so do you know how to do that?
@@NPChapman12 I really have no idea yet, that is why I am going to hold off on it for a while until I know more.
Hey right on Happy Birthday 👍🏼 Mine’s the 20th. Piece at 14:30 is where it’s at 💎🔥🔥🔥
dang! Mine is the 21st
Awesome find!👍😎
Thanks!
Great videos! Does the palm wood at this location resemble the palm wood that comes from Indonesia?
Don't know, I need to look into what the palm wood from indonesia looks like.
New subscriber here, fellow CZcamsr. Great video young man! Content is awesome too, you keep it up and you will be at 1K in no time. Good luck out there, and yes "there is treasure everywhere".
Thanks Paul! Just a few weeks left in my student teaching and it's back to rockhounding! I have you a sub as well!
Where was this? Beautiful piece of petrified wood❤️ I'm hoping to find my first one someday soon.
West and south of Nephi, UT. I include GPS coordinates in the description if that helps!
Really cool! thanks for showing, that big one right by your vehicle was cool, sometimes they are right by the car in the most obvious place! Im not sure all those are palm wood, it really looks like growth rings at 14:41 dont you think? The colors are amazing thats some awesome material
I was able to talk with some people who know the area better, and they said that in this area you can find both palm wood and oak wood. So, the big one is likely oak wood.
@@theruggedrockhound it does looks like oak, I can see some of the medullar rays in that end grain. I'm a woodworker so I can actually identify quite a few species of pet wood just by the naked eye. Is this in the southwest high desert?
@@mitchgillilan This is in the mountains just west of Nephi, Utah.
@@theruggedrockhound ok thanks. 👍
From what I have read there is actually more oak than palm found there.
Thanks for the info! So the large piece I found could be oak then?
Looks like good time spent with your dad on your birthday
IDK if its just me but I think I like the one @14:30 best even though its not the biggest.
Nice work sir, chat soon!
I agree, the two colorful pieces are much better than the big log. After doing some research, I learned that there is both palm wood and oak wood there. The large piece could actually be oak rather than palm!
Agree 👍🏼
I have a roughly 2.ft long and 4 in around piece of white palm wood I found just below the surface in my yard but u can clearly see lots of the little dots in it what do u think it could be worth?
