Sennelier are my favorite brand. Fun fact: it's much more difficult to overwork a painting with Sennelier than any other brand!
It is easy to see why this is your favorite and I love that fun fact! Thank you for being here!
Thank you for a very well-made video of these Sennelier paints. This was a perfect set, and the mixes you created were lovely. 😍
That's very kind, thank you! I love choosing my own colors and this curated set allowed me to create even more beautiful mixes. 😍
Ahh, these swatches are so mesmerizing1 Thank you for a great video!
Thank you for your kindness and support! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I don’t know much about water color, but this gives me such a calming vibe. 🥰
That is heartwarming to hear, thank you! I've envisioned this channel as a destination for color and calm so it is great to hear about your experience. Thank you for being here! 🥰
Sennelier are my favorite paints! I love how well they layer. I prefer to use a limited pallet of six colors; Indian Yellow, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Deep, Raw Sienna, Warm Sepia and Payne’s Grey. I use this pallet to paint landscapes.
That is wonderful to hear! These are superior paints so you can expect high performance in terms of dispersion, layers, and glazes I do have a limited palette as well. This video serves those who are curious to see Sennelier paints in action. :-)
Three thing happened from this video. 1.) The French Vermilion called to me. 2.) I'm always looking for my favorite burnt sienna 3.) The caput mortum mixes were intriguing. So I ordered them. My first Sennelier ever.
And from these three things, more watercolor adventures will take place! So excited for you! French Vermillion is unique to Sennelier so it is worth having. Burnt Sienna is a staple on my palette. Caput Mortuum is a favorite. In a few weeks, I'll have a Caput Mortuum-focused video. Hope that stirs further interest!
I absolutely love your videos! As a beginner using watercolors in my sketches I appreciate seeing how you mix different pigments from various brands to achieve beautiful shades and hues of color. It’s very helpful especially when using a limited palette 🎨. Thank you for sharing your expert tips and techniques Stivi. Very lovely ☺
This is so heartwarming to hear! As watercolorists, making our own mixes makes our creative journey a lot more fun and fulfilling. I am glad the videos have been enjoyable and helpful. Thank you for being here!
Beautiful swatches
Thank you! These colors are definitely gorgeous!
Patty-I loved this video. It was helpful as I am currently building my Sennelier collection. Thank you for the helpful information and tips.
This is heartwarming to hear, Patty! It is great to know that you found this video helpful and that it stirred further interest. Sennelier, overall, delivers excellent pigment performance. Thank you for being here!
Very helpful video. Thank you!!
Lovely to hear that you found the video useful. Thank you for letting me know and for being here!
I’m very tempted by the cerulean, and I’m surprised to be so taken by the Chinese orange and caput mortum. I’d been looking at ceruleans. I’ve got their Helios purple and the Billy Showell set of six primaries, and they’re lovely.
I completely understand that sentiment. It is easy for Sennelier to endear itself to watercolorists because they are in fact some of the most delightful artist quality paints to work with. Their Caput Mortum is one of the more sophisticated ones out there. I reach out for that or Della Magna's Caput Mortuum for paintings that require this pigment. It is also a fantastic mixer.
I really need to get a Caput Mortum, everytime I watch these videos I always love the shade 🥺
I love it too! A video on Caput Mortum watercolors is in the works. When it comes out, I hope that helps with your decision-making, as to which one to get.
@@stiviwonders oooooh nice 😮
@@stiviwonders I would love to see a comparison of caput mortums!
@@alexandraemrick2799 I hear you and working on it! 🥰🥰🥰
I have this pallette , minus caput mortuum, and enjoy it for its transparency and vivid color.
I agree! Sennelier delivers remarkable transparency, vibrancy, and excellent pigment performance.
Oh I just got Sennelier and looking to expand my small palette 🥰 I love Sennelier orange because I tend to paint red makeup a lot so I use this color as an undertone and it works great 😊
Love the caput mortum and ultramarine mix 😍😍😍
So happy for you! You just mentioned a few days ago in a Comment that you were thinking of getting some Sennelier. I use Sennelier Orange too as an underpainting for when I need to add a deep noir background. Glad you love the Caput Mortum + Ultramarine Deep mix because that won my heart as well. Shockingly stunning!
@@stiviwonders yeah I'm very pleased with what I got ao far that it got me excited to try more 🥰 I also tried some Isaro because I wanted to try honey based paint and how the preform, so far I'm so happy with them 😍
Isaro too? Wow! So thrilled to hear that you're enjoying your paints. You'll be happier to know then that I have another Isaro video coming up! 😍
@@stiviwonders ooh I can't wait 😍😍😍
Me too! 😍😍😍
These are just beautiful ✨May I ask which colours you used to mix the pastel lilac and muted blush pink swatches ? 🌸😊

@@stiviwonders Oohh thank you so much for taking the time to respond and with such care & detail! ✨Little happy dance over here 😊
Hello, i paint mostly with Rosa gallery watercolor, i have some Remrandt and Van Gogh in my pallette too, Sennelier is very expensive in my country and so easy to get, but i want to put them in my working pallette so looking for good lightfast tests, have you made one or maybe you can share your personal experience on long term use of this watercolor paints? Thanks forward, best wishes ❤️
Hello, thank you for your message and for being here! Sennelier has an excellent history when it comes to pigment quality so I am confident that you'll love their watercolors' performance. In terms of lightfastness, the best way to look at this is not by brand but by pigment. Each pigment possesses unique properties so if cost is a concern, I recommend choosing a few complementing colors to start with and familiarize yourself with their lightfastness ratings before purchasing. I do plan to share the tests that I am doing on my website at some point.
Interesting nice video and product! I really wonder if Rose Dove might be the better option over Vermillion Red, compared in lightfastness I think so.. And do you prefer the Raw sienna over Yellow Ochre? Wondering what color you would replace with another if you would remake this curated palette Cerulean blue for example for Cobalt blue? The Quinacridone Red also looks very close to Sennelier Orange does this create room for replacement?! And if you could add 4 more colors to this palette what would those be? (after considering the previous questions) Thanks in advance!
Thank you for watching! The answer to your questions can be summarized in a few words. It's relative. Most of the time, it is a matter of preference based on creative freedom. This palette was for a specific project. Knowledge on lightfastness is significant but it is not a determinant of superiority, whether one pigment is better than the other. If you have been watching my videos, you'll notice that I never use the words "compare" or "comparison" because these words take away the joy aspect out of painting. To address your inquiries, I generally embrace pigments that are closer to classical takes or have historical background so Vermilion is one of them. If you prefer Rose Dore Madder Lake (I believe that's what you meant and not Rose Dove), go for it. It is a gorgeous option! I have it too but I rarely use it. Quinacridone Red and Sennelier Orange do not share similarities at all. Not my favorite pigments though. I love Yellow Ochre so I would it to this list. The remaining three would be Permanent Alizarin Crimson Deep, Cobalt Blue, and Raw Umber. No need to replace, just add. Thank you for being here! ;-)
I wish I had just a bit more colors from them.
Those color mixes are beautiful. Thanks for sharing them.
Glad you like the mixes! I enjoyed making them. Which one appealed to you most?
Yea, I can empathize with that sentiment. They are so gorgeous and the excellent pigment performance makes it difficult to not crave for more.

Hi, may I know if this brand good for landscapes painting? Because I've seen many artist use this brand for botanical painting. Thank you in advance 🙏
Hello! Yes, this brand is great for landscape painting. In fact, it is excellent for any painting theme or subject. 🥰
I thought PR242 was a transparent pigment.
Sennelier lists it as Opaque and based on experience, it ranges from semi-opaque to opaque. This swatch effectively shows that as well, I believe.
@@stiviwonders That is so interesting!!
@@awatercolourist Very interesting! Others would describe it as semi-transparent but it does appear semi-opaque to opaque.
