    I love how one of Derek’s “Most angry” moments is him just calmly talking to the ump 💀

  • @kevinc1745
    @kevinc1745 Před 3 lety +9

    The last video needs some context. Jeter wasn't arguing because the ump got the call wrong. He was arguing because he thought the ump said, "The ball beat you by a mile, he doesn't have to tag you". That pissed Jeter off because obviously that's not the rule. In fairness to the umpire, he claims he said, "The ball beat you by a mile AND I had him tagging you", and Jeter misheard. But that's why Jeter was pissed there.

  • @larrydevere2519

    There two I just saw recently. Jeter got into it with Jesus Colome after Colome went up and in at him. Benches cleared. It was back in 2002.
    The other one I just saw was back in 99. The Yankees were playing the White Sox, and Tino was at the plate, Jeter at third, a pitcher named Bill Simas on the mound. Simas balked and started yelling at Jeter as he cross home plate. Benches cleared, and Jeter had to be restrained by Torre and a few coaches.

      Tiffany Gonzalez for sure. Like I said he got a little ‘cranky’ at times. Back in the late 90s, early 2000s, He use to get drilled by Pedro like every game they face one another, Jeter would just take first base. He was the ultimate “let my play do the talking”.

    • @Trystaticus
      @Trystaticus Před 4 lety +7

      There's a reason, just not a good one.
      Most pitchers rely at least a little bit on intimidation. As a manager, you want your opponents to fear your pitcher. Beanballs and brushbacks, intentional or not, will make hitters think twice about crowding the plate next time. If a pitcher apologizes, or goes to check that the hitter is okay, it makes him seem less intimidating. Even though many pitchers do still do this, most are discouraged by coaches/managers because they want to get that intimidation edge over opponents.

    Good thing Jeter never argued balls and strikes his entire career; especially after inning ending double plays. Even though Jeter retired after the 2014; what makes me mad is that CC argued after an inning ending double play on Sunday June 7th 2015 against the Angels. I know that doesn’t have to do with this game but I’m saying you should never argue with the umpire after inning ending double plays. So therefore CC and Joe Girardi both deserved to be ejected. Just saying.

    You forgot to add where he and Arod collide on the popup. Also when Joe Buck barges in and interviews him live during the All Star game.
