Last summer a buddy of mine called a local heating and air company because his AC quit working. They asked, over the phone, how old it was. He told them about 15-20 years old. They sent out a salesman instead of a repair guy. So he called someone I recommend and they replaced a capacitor for the condenser and got it running. My point is, Thank You for being one of the honest ones!
lots of those white rogers have a software reset button in them. people mess around and press a couple buttons at once and they need a reset. nice fair repair

When he said “keep it simple”, I thought he was gonna give her one of those rotary Honeywell thermostats I grew up with. He gave her another newfangled digital one. What the fawk?!
What a dangerous install pulling air from the basement like that. Something like a heat exchanger failure or a water heater not venting properly turns that furnace into a poison pump. I hated finding stuff like this in the field nothing you can do except document it and hope nothing bad happens
I think it only lit the burner and tried to start the fan motor after he jumpered out the thermostat wiring. So, the thermostat wasn't calling for heat when it should have been. The bad fan motor was a separate issue, but it would have also resulted in no heat if he hadn't fixed it.
Guessing $775-900 bill for new blower fan, t.stat. and capacitor? Probably $3-400 in parts. Not in the business at all, but watch a lot of these videos so am obviously highly qualified to comment.😀
Steve your language has much to be desired, but you are a wonderful person and help many people. Your job is not an easy one, I know because I worked as a boiler and a/c technician for many years. I can tell you have many talents and are a skillful technician. I hope your customers appreciate you. Have a prosperous New Year.
Speaking of critters, the WORST thing I ever saw was a STINKY, SMOKING electric furnace. A raccoon had gotten into a heating duct running through a crawl space. We found the body laying on the electric elements. The customer had heard a lot screaming from her furnace vents, but didn't think to tell us, until after we found the body. The stench was unbelievable. The entire house stunk of dead raccoon. Absolutely disgusting. Because the blower motor had distributed raccoon flesh everywhere, the furnace and approx 6 feet of duct was replaced.
I used to cash in a 5 gallon bucket of brass a couple times a year, i'd get about $150.00 each time, and copper was much more per pound. Steve does too.
Thinking Steve's just letting the,"Client" know they weren't being ripped off, showing what parts were sourced for replacement, thus showing them the nature of repair.. Great Job Steve...
Steve just curious I know you are not a fan of the high efficiency boilers, but for a conventional gas fired, forced hot water what would be your choice of manufacturer of boiler?
@@rustyshakleford5230 lol Well gonna have to probably go ductless if I have a leak in the floor. House had an addition put on in the 50s and they never added a bleeder valve...that I can find. Part of the house is baseboard so that still works so I just been hanging out in that area. Have to get someone out to take a look. Time to move to a warm climate.

life is always better with a dog ..thats a fact
Chihuahuas and terriers are good companions. I had a Heinz 57 dog when I was a kid and that dog was the smartest one.
Mans best friend . And that’s the truth!
Wouldn’t be without my little dog. Saved me from doing something stupid a few times. He’s always there when I’m feeling really low.
Sounds like the inducer motor will be on the menu next🤣🤣.
Excellent and, most importantly, honest customer service and advice. Keep up the great work!
Must be hard when dealing with folks on a fixed income.. I’m sure you try to help whenever possible. Heaven will be your reward, Stevie!

Another Day with Steve and Miss Molly...txs for sharing
It looked like a dungeon down there. it must be a very old house. Good job with that one.
Bad cap always ends up leading to a callback on the motor. Sometimes I’ve found that blower motors can get a dead spot in the windings.
There's a special place in heaven for guys like Steve ! Good man, takes care of the elderly, honest, wish he was in my area, he'd be our contractor.!
Older folks on a fixed income. They probably financed their kids thru college and now they don't have a pot to piss in. Hope they can pay you Steve.
Sounds like she retired from the grocery store. Not a high paying career to begin with so retirement will be tough
You may be the only one allot of those seniors see. More power to you.
Take the old shit with you Steve! Like a pro ya bum! Lol
I Agree Keep it Simple
This has to be your darkest house yet. I have some clueless customers too. No common sense, turn on the lights. Future customers, please and thanks.
Maybe saving money. Put an LED bulb in and it will last a long time. 6 watt LED is equal to a 60 watt incandescent.
lots of those white rogers have a software reset button in them. people mess around and press a couple buttons at once and they need a reset.
nice fair repair
Another crusty and dark basement. one more for Steve, zero for the basement grinch
Hey man, you should get you the ol switcharoo comes in handy, an use less tape! Great video!
Another great job and great video Steve and Miss Molly. That system was a bit crusty. I enjoy all the troubleshooting steps that you do, Steve.

Connect the blower motor directly to the transformer to test motor
Good job Steve.
When he said “keep it simple”, I thought he was gonna give her one of those rotary Honeywell thermostats I grew up with. He gave her another newfangled digital one. What the fawk?!
That one is a crusty one. Is the chimney leaking water down into the induction exhaust fan, or condensation causing all that rust?
It’s so good to see honest techs 👍🏻 good karma for sure Steve 😊

steve you may need a headlamp
God help us Steve had to ask “do you have light you could put on ma’am?”
Can you release the footage of the fan assembly sometime.
educational video steve knows what he's doing.
You're a good man! That's exactly how I would have handled that call. 👏
Good vid cause if you didn't do them right , Miss Molly couldn't sleep at night 😂😂😂 Thx for sharing ...👏👍✌
Real workin man here folks
Some guys would of been like "I'll be back" and never come back. Lol
So many homes with absolutely no lights in the basement, wtf!
I was waiting for u to say i got it fixed mama lol that would be funny great channel thanks
Is that a gasoline can on the steps a few yards from the furnace?
Sound like that inducer motor is grinding coffee
Enjoy your trouble shooting jobs. You’re good help for a lot of people with limited resources. Good job
Looks like you have 164k crusty fans Steve
Why do you think the thermostat is bad. Wouldn’t the fact that the fan doesn’t run be the reason there is no heat?
I think it only lit the burner and tried to start the fan motor after he jumpered out the thermostat wiring. So, the thermostat wasn't calling for heat when it should have been. The bad fan motor was a separate issue, but it would have also resulted in no heat if he hadn't fixed it.
You’ll be back changing that motor real soon…
Good man there Steve!
Ur videos crank me the F up! I can relate when I'm on service calls being a SprinklerFitter
Nice job Steve taking care of the South Coast residents, Cheers!
Really Great Video Steve.
Hey Steve and Miss Molly! Workin’ again y’all. 👍👍. Lucky that motor went while you were still there.
HELLO HELLO HELLO ! love it steve

five thermostat wires in an old house! my moms house only has four wires and it was build in 1988.
oh lord she had the ol sunbeam batteries in the thermostat. not good
probably from dollar tree?

Does that squirrel cage not look like it's in backwards????
I hate those door switches wrapped plenty of electrical tape around those lol
That inducer sounds healthy. Yikes
Thermostat inducer run cap
Why would you need light? I don't understand.
People really are clueless.
I’ve been in situations like that too lol 40watt glow for a cellar light! It’s dangerous.

Good video Steve are you getting the trackless set up yet ?
Blacker then a bats ass in that house. 😳
Sure could use a good Cleaning..
Just to be clear, there is no AC here... ;)
How come you didn't hook up G so she could use the fan to hopefully remove the dampness from the basement during the summer.
I was wondering the same thing.

Steve, do you not sell all the old brass, copper and motors for scrap ? Is it worth the time and effort ?
I used to cash in a 5 gallon bucket of brass a couple times a year, i'd get about $150.00 each time, and copper was much more per pound. Steve does too.

How come you couldn't raise the stat to cover the old round stain on the wall?
It’s so dark, no one will be able to see it.
Inducer sounds a bit loud lol
What a dungeon
My damn system is airlocked. Guess it's to be expected with a 70 year old radiant floor system.
That sucks. Are you gonna sell the house or just tear it down? You could also try purging the air out.
