    THANK YOU SO MUCH. You have no idea how helpful this video was. It was more than just fixing the flap, you gave me the confidence to want to solve common household problems. I am a woman and thought I needed a man to do do these things around the house. Soon I won't need him since I do it all.

    Many thanks to you good sir!! I was about to tear my door up doing it wrong! So thankful for your video. Mine threads from the inside of the door from the other side. Just ordered the part today.

    Thank you so much. I think this is exactly what we need. We have mold growing in the corner of the drywall where the shower meets drywall. I have no idea what the previous owners were doing about this....

    I have replaced the rubber piece you have described. What do you recommend to repair the metal piece below the rubber and how do you secure it?

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  Před 4 měsíci

      If the metal piece is bad, you will need to replace it.

    I have a similar setup but I cannot get the replacement to slide in. I have tried everything but there is something inside the groove that keeps it from sliding in. So frustrated.

    Really good video, i noticed that the door shut pretty easy after you installed the new strip, i am not having that same luck, is the a trick i missed, also do you caulk the bottom door frame to rhe tub, mine does not have any and i can see doing so could possibly clog drain slots

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  Před 3 lety

      There is no trick on my style of door. I’m not sure where you are talking about caulking.

      @@TightWadDIY Hi TightwadDIY, try to do my own stuff as well. My shower door and frame appears to be just like the one in your video. The new strip seems to require a pretty good jolt to actually get it to shut so that was why I was asking. It is almost like it is sticks it crossing over the threshold. It will shut, just have to slam it. The caulk question was on the bottom part of the entire frame that sits on the shower base. Just wondered if it should have been caulked when the builders built the house should have been applied to that entire bottom part (glass to left and door frame) the longer frame part the door closes into. ON the inside I see little slots for water drainign I suspect but no caulk so that entire part flexes when you shut the door. Hopefully it all makes sense. Thanks again for the video.

      @@Shakerrun I wonder if you need to trim some off the bottom of your seal.
      I assume there is a seal built into the frame so caulk isn’t needed but I’m really not sure.

    my groove is not on the door. It's on the bottom brace. Old seal won't even pop out & i've no idea how to put a bloody new one in.

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  Před 4 lety

      geetha rajaram It’s possible you have a leak in your frame instead of at the door seal.

  • @javierserranoyoutube

    Have the same type of shower and need to fix the same type of problem. What baffled me is that the aluminum piece where you insert the guard has a u-shape rail that catches water but it does not drain it away from the door. I find that weird.

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  Před 3 lety

      I agree! The water from that u-shaped rail wets the floor by the shower when you open the door. Very poor design.

      @@TightWadDIY I ended up getting this 36" x 3/4" clear T strip for $3.08 at Lowe's. It fitted the groove fine. I'll have to get back on its performance.

    I've exactly the same issue and bought Vinyl, Clear Shower Door Bottom Sweep which fits perfectly in the door groove. But my door doesn't close because sweep stays out. Should I cut the sweep from the bottom to reduce its height?

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  Před 4 lety +1

    • @brendakeasbey422
      @brendakeasbey422 Před 3 lety

      @@TightWadDIY Thank you! I had exactly the same question as chirag rana; yours is the first video to actually show how the finished sweep should fit; we'll be snipping that puppy just a shade narrower so it doesn't hang outside the shower. My son had to fight like the dickens to get the clear vinyl sweep into that channel, it kept slipping out; we had to slide it from the hinged end because the drip catcher had a stopper on the end that couldn't be removed and of course the screws holding it would rather strip and break than be removed. Such a pain for what should have been a quick easy repair.
