Avatar: The Last Airbender features what might be the greatest redemption arc in the history of redemption arcs. Prince Zuko’s loooong journey from the main villain of the series to a plucky, socially awkward member of Team Avatar is one of the greatest, most well thought out character arcs most of us have ever seen.
That does bring up an interesting question though. What would the world of Avatar have looked like if Zuko would’ve made the other choice? Aang barely manages to save the world from being burned to a crisp even with Zuko’s help. What would have become of our heroes if perhaps their most vital ally never turned their way?
Well, I have that answer for you and let’s just say it does NOT work out for everyone. A world where Zuko sides with Azula and Ozai over Aang is a dark and tragic place. Events like “The Crossroads of Destiny” and “The Day of Black Sun” have even more terrible consequences than they did in the series.
Not only that but the changes reverberate far into the future. The timeline of The Legend of Korra would be altered to such an extent that it would be barely recognizable anymore. Foes like Amon, Kuvira, Unalaq, and the Red Lotus seem heroic in an age born out of fire.
So let’s not wait around, shall we? Here’s the darkest timeline of Avatar, where Zuko betrayed Aang and embraced his dark side forever.

That true but wouldn’t the portals open back up with the avatar spirit being there to hold it in cause in beginnings they never explained what would have happened if the avatar died an the cycle was destroyed so I think he would have been cause the barrier would came down due to Aang death an the avatar cycle being destroyed
@@jedipadwan20 yes and no. It wouldn't matter because you are forgetting about light. When the avatar state dies, there is no more light. If there is no more light then there is no dark. It's a psychical boundary that is once broken. The world is over no matter what
since the avatar was the "bridge", once it was no more the spirit world would open fully. she was the one holding the bridge closed,
I think that only airbenders would be able to enter (because I think only they could meditate into the spirit world) but there are no more but harmonic converginus would bring back the airbenders but Unalaq was already a waterbender so he wouldnt be able be able to enter but even if the airbenders could enter the spirit world and even if one of them became corrupt they still wouldnt be able to open the spirit portals so Vaatu could never escape.

this proves it. Zuko's choice in that 1 scene where he switched sides decided the fate of everything. Zuko is the most important charecter in the avatar universe. But also, if ursa got her memeries back and went back to zuko, then zuko wouldint have been a madman.

Actually he would, remember if katara wasn't their he would have direct the lightening in other words victory was already his because he was on top of his game while Azula was slipping, and not only that but in that duel between him and his sister his fire bending would most likely be better giving into total darkness and rage...in the series we were thought that fire is energy those who bend using positive energy use breathing and peace of mind as a source and who bend using negative energy uses nothing but anger and rage, his uncle was teaching him the positive way, the correct way to fire bend but his anger and rage was what caused his under growth but if he gives in to the darkness his fire power will grow even further than when he was good because the stronger his rage is the stronger his flames become and trust me Zuko, he has alot of that fuel his fire power to be as strong as ever so to be honest I think if Zuko gets evil he would surpass his sister and regain his rightful place as first in line for the throne

We'll... There's one issue here... Zuko was never really bad... That's why he was so conflicting and even when he was "bad" (in the first season) he still had a lot of "redeeming points" (such as saving his people during the storm, offer Zhao a hand during the north pole battle, etc).
But yeah... It's interesting to think what would happen if Zuko would actually become bad at the end (instead of embracing his goodness).
This is a good thought experiment. It sounds really interesting and a lot of points are very probably right...

You know this assumes that Zuko just straight up murders a 12 year old, right? Plus, Zuko was tasked with capturing the avatar. His father would have likely killed Zuko for killing the avatar. In fact, only team avatar was aware that killing the avatar in the avatar state would end the cycle. This would have started another search for a now nonexistent avatar lol

And yes Ozai would've been proud of Zuko for killing the Avatar; I don't think this knowledge was only known to Team Avatar, after all the Red Lotus knew how to end the Avatar Cycle and I doubt anyone would've told them willingly. It's possible the Red Lotus studied as much as they could about the Avatar when Unalaaq was still with them and learned this fact, so I think others might've figured it out eventually besides, the world used to think the Avatar was never reborn after Roku died so maybe someone with knowledge on the Avatar State started to spread that rumor.

I don't think the white lotus would just give up after a single defeat on the day of black sun and just because iroh isn't willing to take down his nephew. So another assault maybe after sozin's comet would happen.
And if ever a 100 time skip would happen like you said Amon's childhood would be different maybe his father would train him to take down the fire nation. Amon would either pretend to be the avatar to spark hope or be a feared blood bender to strike fear.
This is one of my favorite videos that you guys have done. Its a very interesting point of view and would be cool to see.

It would be a wealthy fire nation. air nomads wont be extinct. BUT. changing that will cause a time ripple. There will be something that endanger the balance of the world that he will need to resolve. Air nomads might not like the idea of an avatar who was supposed to be a spiritual bridge have a worldly job as a national leader. So a group of bad air nomads might plan a way to dethrone him. Air nomads wont attack personaly because of their belief, so they might meditate and ask spirits who disagree with the firelord to attack. Spirits might feel betrayed too, because the avatar who was supposed to be connected to both spirit and material lost his focus and neglected the spirits for a long time, so the firelord avatar might need to travel, learn elements and go to the spirit world to ask for the spirits forgiveness and make amends by working and finally do his avatar job to balance the world again by balancing his priorities.

Sozin in his final years said that as he felt his own life dimming he couldn't help but think of a time when everything was so much brighter. This implies that he missed the old days when the world was not at war and perhaps even felt remorse for what he started. Evil Zuko in his elder years would likely feel the same except there would be no hope now. But it is said that light and dark can't exist without one another so wouldn't Rava return after 10,000 years of darkness and try to restore the balance? If this is the case then she would most likely not want there to be anymore Avatars since she may view Aang's demise as proof that humans are weak and likely wouldn't seek out another human to possess. The world may recover after tens of thousands of years but Rava may decide that there should never be another Avatar and perhaps spirits would dominate the world again. Just like how harmonic convergence restored airbending to the world I think the world would recover eventually but Rava would likely be extremely reluctant to ever trust a human with her power again.
But why aang didn't do anything wrong he got killed I think she will from a new avatar with a boy or a girl because she need to beat vetuus

@@milogang3440 deadliest doesn't mean powerful. It's based on how far you're willing to go. Also I think Kuvira might be responsible for more death than Kyoshi(making her the deadliest earthbender), as was hinted at her placing earth nation citizens. Not of earth origin into 'reeducation camps'.

Both with deep connection with and strongest bender at the time of eclipse would definitely go after ozai or even the azula and Zuko. The United Republic of Nations and Republic City would not exist since they were formed after the Hundred Year War when Zuko & Aang dealt with Yu Dao & Crane fish Town.
Imagine a brutal an merciless Sokka. Hell imagine how angry Sokka's father would be after learning that his daughter was killed. If the Avatar cycle ended but the other nations and the white lotus defeated the Fire Nation then the people of the world would just adapt to an Avatar free world. Before Wan became the Avatar there was no Avatar so it would be like when there was no Avatar. People may just find more creative and innovative ways to solve their own problems. The world may become stronger and perhaps the nations of the world would advance technologically and spiritually to the point where they wouldn't need an Avatar.

yes there wouldn't be a Republic City. BUT the Earth Kingdom wouldn't be wiped out completely, which means Toph's still gonna have kids(probably with different names in this timeline) and teach them metalbending, and it will either be her kids or another master metalbender similar to Kuvira who unite the Earth Kingdom survivors to fight against the Fire Nation. Although I doubt they will have the economic power to develop mechasuits or any advanced technology like the Earth Empire in the original timeline.

Azula wouldn’t have cracked in this alternate universe. Mai and Ty Lee likely wouldn’t have ever betrayed her and she wouldn’t have been overwhelmed with finally being crowned fire lord. In this era, she’d approach it cunningly and cautiously because she knows she has to fight for her position. Azula could’ve easily beaten or outsmarted team avatar yet she used the Dai Li agents. Zuko would’ve been fighting smarter (not harder) by using Combustion man to defeat Azula. Imo Azula may very well outsmart Combustion man and either defeat him or escape and plot.

If Zuko stayed bad he would have certainly had to have had Aang killed because when Ozai learned that Aang was still alive Ozai was furious and almost attacked Zuko. Azula told Ozai that Zuko killed the Avatar so that if Ozai learned Aang was alive Zuko would face Ozai's wrath. So if Zuko stayed bad he would have had to have Aang killed and done it covertly so that Ozai would never find out that Aang survived. If Zuko fails and Ozai finds out that Aang is alive then Zuko would likely decide to kill Ozai and Azula in order to seize the throne for himself. He would likely order Combustion man to carry out the assassinations. If Zuko succeeds and becomes firelord then he would likely end up being defeated by Aang and imprisoned then Iroh would likely become Firelord but would take the throne with a heavy heart once he realized that his nephew was beyond saving. Ultimately a bitter sweet ending.
No zuko would have killed aang because he know katara can heal him so he would have destroyed the body

@@josephlurry7998 I really don't know maybe the remaining heroes would go to much more extreme lengths to win the war. The white lotus would probably join with Team Avatar at some point and maybe the Fire Nation still loses.

Tbh I don’t feel like aang would die because when he fell after Azula shot him,katana caught him and Iroh intervened and let them run leading to Aang getting healed.
Zuko can probably get a couple of nice shots when Aang's body was falling if he had no inner conflict.
