In this episode of Unpacking Media: On Cuyler Time, we will be Unpacking how the Avatar The Last Airbender series would have been different if Zuko succeeded in capturing Aang in the very first episodes. By that, I mean once Zuko invaded the South Pole where Katara and Sokka had discovered Aang frozen in a block of Ice, once Zuko traded Aang's capture for the safety of the South Pole, what would have happened if Aang's escape wasn't successful, or perhaps wasn't even attempted. What would have happened if Zuko, Aang, and Uncle Iroh set sail and landed at the Fire Nation Capital and Zuko successfully delivered Aang to his father, Fire Lord Ozai.

Roku would inform Aang of the truth. Roku went through great effort to tell Aang about Sozins comet and he had already been told the fire nation wiped out the air nomads by Katara, given the conflicting info he wouldn't trust the fire nation so soon.
That would happen eventually but it take time for the pst avatars to be able to communicate with the current avatar. The only reason aang takes to Roku was because of the solstice and because chasing habai caused him to enter the spirit world.
If he never meets habai then he never goes into the spirit world on accident which means Rokus dragon never found him. He wouldn’t have an easy way to commune with Roku.
soo... I think and I thought you would too that when Zuko realized what his dad thought of him at the southern air temple, he would be so mad that he changed sides and tell Aang who really killed gyatso, and who really banished Ursa

I think aang would in this what if attack bah sing sa because he views the earth bender government as a oppressive regime that seeks to destroy and whilst I doubt he’d destroy all earth benders I think he’d kill a load. Ozai is smart given the opportunity he’d use the avatar.

I want to say that if your proposition of story is overall good Cuyler. Zuko and Iroh accompanying Aang to the Southern Air Temple island is a bad idea. Because like you said, Zuko and Iroh realised that Ozai have been deceitful to such an extent that this possible that would said the truth to Aang. And Zuko is not the kind of the very convincing liar.
Here is my reasoning of a truly deceitful plan that Ozai could do for our poor Aang:
Ozai would have in my opinion send Azula to the Southern Air Temple. Because Ozai saying that Zuko is a disgraced prince with no honor, he would also say to Aang that Azula in the contrary is a very nice princess that will treat the respect he deserves. Also, the Fire Lord could have tasked Azula to befriend with Aang, even to make him fall in love with her if she has the opportunity. The princess will be spectical at first, even saying that would be risky, after all, Katara and Sokka are on the loose and Iroh and Zuko could say the truth about what happened and even any Earthbender he could encounters, without forgetting the Avatar learning about the elements and potentially something that he shouldn't know. But Ozai will assure her that he has already thought about these different issues and if something bad happen to the plan, he said to her: "You know what do you have to do, Azula." And ominous phrase who could say a lot of things.
And so, Azula takes Aang back to the Southern Air temple, in the trip. She "befriend" him, playing Pai Sho, talking about everything and nothing, she would do everything to show how nice and respectful she is toward Aang. Little by little, Aang let himself be manipulated by the princess since he saw as someone closest to a potential friend.
Arriving at the Southern Air Temple, Aang makes the discovery of the corpse of Gyatso with the Earth Kingdom armours that Ozai soldiars has placed in place of the Fire Nation armours.
He enters in the Avatar State, to be next quickly hugged by Azula. She would say to him even if the Air Nomads are gone, she is here for him, she is here to take care of him, that everything is fine the moment that she is close to him. A support that Aang needed and Azula uses to manipulate him more effectively.
Aang when coming back to the Fire Nation, Azula will try to close on him. She would even said to him that she would take Aang to visit Kuzon's grave because she knows where the grave is. It would surprise the Air Nomad and this crucial moment makes Aang truly believe that Azula is a friend that he can trust.
Aang return to the Fire Nation Capital and pledges to serve the Fire Lord. Azula will next take Aang to Kuzon's grave. Also, she would potentially take Aang to Amber Island, a perfect place for him to rest after all the chaos he has gone throught since the day of exiting his iceberg.
Aang, at one moment tells Azula how she can feel the pain of the war reaching him. Azula answered that her cousin Lu Ten, Iroh's son died in the war against the Earth Kingdom, brutally murdered with his body smashed to pieces because Earthbenders soldiers who has no honor for the dead.
Azula also said to Aang, showing (with honesty this time) a weak side of her, that her mom left the palace one day because she believed that her daughter was a monster.
Aang will feel sorry to the Fire Nation Royal family because they have lost Lu Ten in the war but especially toward Azula, because she was abandonned by her mom while she favoured Zuko who was an idiot from the beginning.
To the next weeks and days, Ozai will take out of the prison some Waterbenders that will teach Aang about Waterbending with the promise of freedom if they said to him that they are refugees from the Earth Kingdom. If they try to reveal about what happened to the Southern Water Tribe, they will die and the Southern Raiders will attack once again. Same thing about some Earthbenders prisoners. Azula will be the one to personally train Aang.
Ozai would also task to Zhao that he have to conquer the Northern Water Tribe but he is forbidden to kill the Tui and La since Aang is training with his Waterbending, bring back Appa if he could but also kill Katara and Sokka, who knows too much about Aang.
Zhao would attack and conquer the Northern Water Tribe, he is frustrated to not kill the two Koi fishes but he remembers what implication it could bring. Instead, he seals off with metal the pond of the Water Spirits, to insure that nobody use the Moon Water. For Yue, he will take her has a personal prisoner back to the Fire Nation. Sokka and Katara would relutanctly fly away with Appa and try to find their father.
The months passed in the Fire Nation and Azula would manage to make Aang falls in love with her after a long time passed with him.
Also, there is not trip toward the Wan Shi Tong Library, so no discovery of the Day of Black Sun but also the Sozin's Comet. But also, since Azula is training with Aang, Ty Lee and Mai won't come to join Azula but it means also a much later capture of Bumi and Omashu since he cannot have the support of Aang. It also means that the Drill and the Coup in Ba Sing Se won't happen.
Instead, the Fire Nation will simply wait the arrival of Sozin's Comet while securing the control of the rest of the Earth Kingdom, then when the moment arrive. A massive assault is launched. Ba Sing Se is burned and taken over despite the resistance of the Dai Li, with the Earth King Kuei killed, barely realising the truth outside his walls while agonising. The last stronghold who resist the Fire Nation is taken over. For Toph, she would be simply either being sent to a carbon mine or managed to flee and began to wander inside of the Earth Kingdom and hiding with her stronger Earthbending manipulation or simply staying at home after the Beifong Family surrendered without hesitation to the Firebenders to protect their daughter (my most probable guess is the second one in my opinion).
Katara and Sokka would be eventually found, captured and killed. Appa on his side will be brought back to the Fire Nation, to much of Aang's happiness. Ozai would say to Aang that his two first friends, Sokka and Katara has unfortunately being killed by Earthbenders and Appa was being mistreated by them. He would bring evidence by showing the crushed belly of the corpses of the two tribemembers because again, he has tasked that if the Fire Nation soldiers find a Sky Bison with two adolescents: Kill them but without firebending. Aang would be upset and would absolutely hate the Earth Kingdom to have mercilessly killed his friends. But like everytime, Azula is here to calm down and reassure him.
And so, the world falls completely under the Fire Nation total control. But this isn't the end, because the resistance aided with the White Lotus will try a last attempt to try to stop the Fire Nation. After all, Zuko seeing how much he was manipulated and betrayed by his own family, he will reconcile with Iroh and join the White Lotus. It would be easier for him since he wouldn't have formed a relationship with Mai.
Then, the White Lotus attacks will all the rest of the resistance to the Fire Nation Capital. But a surprise waits for them, something they didn't except.
Aang, in his almighty Avatar State devastate the invading army and kill everyone. Even Iroh and Zuko dies. Also, he wasn't himself so he couldn't know what happened, except the fact that Iroh and Zuko betrayed the Fire Nation and he has "rightfully" killed them.
And so, Azula becames officially the Fire Lord after Ozai crowned himself as the Phoenix King. Aang would marry Azula at fifteen and found a family later where he carefully teach to the children who has Airbender the way of the Air Nomads.
Toph destiny will be wandering inside of the Earth Provinces of the Phoenix Empire, learning about the bending of Iron. She would make a deal with the Phoenix Empire officials: train Metalbenders for the Fire Nation in exchange of citizenship while she would form in secret an army of Metalbenders to destroy the Fire Nation.
Hama would go to the Northern Water Tribe Province and secretly teach Bloodbending to a few adepts before she dies of old age.
Aang on his side would take his time to teach the way of the Air Nomads. But his oldest son (that I will still name Tenzin) since he is an Airbender is mocked by the other Firebenders while his sister Ursa and little brother Kuzon will be praised as Firebenders. Also, he would discover about the truth about the Fire Nation exactions while travelling. He stays quiet to not bring suspicion, especially after his grandfather Ozai dies for odd reasons and Azula takes over as Phoenix Queen and becomes even more ruthless than her father.
A very dangerous period opens up when Aang dies. In the Southern Water Tribe Province, Korra is born. The Organisation of the Red Lotus directed by Zaheer will try to take her away, with the help of Tenzin and the old Toph and her daughters, without forgetting Amon, the Equaliser. The Fire Sages would take Korra to the Fire Nation to teach her about the bending but also indoctrinate her.
While on the Fire Nation Homeland, an aging Azula becomes more and more paranoid, cruel and insane. While studying the spirits, she discovers about the Spirit Gates but especially about Vaatu, the Dark Spirit. And she began her plan to make Korra open the Spirit Gates, reach Vaatu and merges with him, becoming a Dark Avatar and beginning her eternal reign as the one and only Phoenix Queen.
Damn, I would want to see more of this.

The live action has an oppertunity to make this plausible and relevant to the plot. In the desert Wan Shin Tan he who knows 10000 things sinks the library into the spirit world. Now this time Toph decides to save Appa believing team avatar will come out in time. Team avatar is trapped in the spirit world. They're wandering around. Aang asks previous avatars on advice. These avatars will materialize in front of him and team avatar. I guess since it's in the spirit world it'll be spiritualize instead of materialize. Now Kuruk tells Aang to go back to the beginning and to find Raava and Wan. He learns the origin of the first avatar and this time team avatar is there to watch. Toph is bussy flying with Appa. She gets captured by Azula and invents metal bending earler. And saves Appa twice. Team avatar learns of the spirit portals. So they travel to them. On there way out they meet Vaatu. Vaatu is gonna have generic villain dialogue. Sokka will make jokes about it. Aang opens the northern spirit portal since the north pole is closer to Ba sing se. They exit and Aang recloses the spirit portals. Toph and Appa will be captured by the Dai Li and brainwashed. So when team avatar goes to Ba sing se to reunite and hopefully with the help of the northern watertribe plan on attacking the fire nation on the day of black sun. They fight Toph, Katara breaks the brainwash and team avatar is happily reunited. Toph exposes the Dai Li. The Earth King will be pursuade even faster. Toph gives Aang the lettet of Guru Patik so he can learn to control the avatar state. Let's say they split up after Azula tries to capture them for this plotpoint to work. Team avatar splits as usual. Azula will try to overthrow Ba Sing Se but since the northern water tribe military is present that's not gonna go well so she'll rot in prison. Zuko and Iroh lives there peaceful life in Ba sing se. Aang masters the avatar state. And since he knows more about lion turtles and is connected to Raava who would probably be able to help Aang find one leaen eneegy bending. Before the day of blaxk sun. And on the day of black sun Aang being having full mastery of the avatar state and energy bebding would wreck Ozai. Take his bending away and all. Thus ending the 100 year war. Before Sozin's commit even.
It gives me a similar feeling to Superboy kneeling before Zod in Young Justice season 4.
