A simple and straightforward tutorial of how to tie The Adjustable Knot. The fifth in a series of films I've made teaching people how to tie useful knots.
Most knots have multiple names, I call this the Adjustable Friction Hitch. Nice demo - I like this hitch better than the Taut-Line Hitch. IMO, easier to tie, easier to set tightly for better grip - great knot.
@@brolyui4484 Similar to a Taut-Line Hitch but with the second wrap tucked behind the first forming an intermediate griping Awning Hitch before finishing with a final Half Hitch ... is that the one you mean? It's supposed to be a more secure friction hitch than many. I should try it more frequently than I have. If tied well, all of these friction hitches should work adequately in most circumstances.
Awesome knot! Used it for clamping a glue job. Couldn't find anything that was adjustable but very slip resistant until this. Need to figure out how to put a draw mechanism in this to make it easier to reef down. Luckily, I was able to set the length and then stretch it over what I was clamping together. The knot did not (pun intended) budge! Thanks.
If you want a knot that you can ramp up tension for gluing, a truckers hitch will do that. If you double the rope through the loop you create in the truckers hitch that is very effective in holding the tension and you can adjust using that. This knot is very good but a trucker hitch might offer you more flexibility and strength for clamping a glue job.
Thank you for the MUCH APPRECIATED help Stef!!!! Seriously man , you have no idea how handy this was today. May this find you well!
This is a great demonstration with a clear description of the purpose of the knot. Thanks and you have a new subscriber.

I tried it and seems to work great as adjustable ear loops for a cloth face mask. Thank you! (edit: spelling)
Looks good and easy. But how is it suitable for keeping things like firewood together?
Dude you saved my life
Can I do this with onw rope and putting the ends together?

Nice🤠👍🏼👌🏼but I would just use a taut line.
Real
Thanks for the lesson. I came across this knot on a pond boat I am renovating and I could knot (sorry) figure out what it was called or how to tie it.
Ah, similar to the taught line knot. 😉
Please do a strength test Adjustable Knot vs the UNI.
Only time on CZcams I have to use 0.5x speed😂😂
Seems to me to be a slipped Adjustable Grip Hitch with one extra turn.

I was going to tie this knot, but there was a hitch........
Is, uh, this the knot people used to lifen't people?
Yeah
Now I wonder if when they try to unalive you with it you can pull that part of it and you're saved
It doesnt work on nylon rope because it slips
If it slips tie an half-hitch (or 2) on the standing end with the end of the working piece. I do this every time I make this hitch; why not?
@@nokieng6502 can you make it simple for better understanding.
what's that squeaking sound?
This assumes that I know how to (tie off) the standing end of the rope :-(
tautline but no its not tautline
