People say there is no difference in a Cat filter and other filters haven’t watched your video on filters. My policy is if it don’t say cat it don’t touch my motor I even switched my FASS system to cat filters. After spending 25,000 on a Platinum rebuild why chance it. Keep up the videos enjoy watching and learning more about Cat motors.

I start to work with truck when I was 14/15 years old back in Brazil.

I learned a lot with your channel, because electronic engine wasn’t popular in Brazil back in 2009(I remember when Mercedes start to make 1622 electronic and ppl saying that Electronic engine wasn’t strong as mechanical), and I still learning.

After seeing the huge catch pan, I just had the thought of using a 250 gal. chemical container, (like those mounted on a steel pallet with a metal cage around it). Completely remove the cage and leave a few inches of the plastic container (with the ball valve) for the catch pan. This would easily fit under a truck, & when finished simply lift it up with pallet forks and use the valve to empty the liquids into another container for disposal

Pro tip on the injection pump oil line nut removal? When the engine has an air compressor, tie a plastic zippy tie around the pipe under the nut before you take the fitting off of the end of the pipe. Now the nut won't rattle it's way down the pipe and disappear behind the air compressor where you get to fish it out. Great video Josh! I'm with you on the pump and a lot of Caterpillar parts. Why can't Cat offer up the o-ring seals, gaskets, hoses and clamps for their parts to install the parts back is beyond me. Instead you have to order all the extra parts as extra! I had to replace an Exhaust gas cooler on a International engine a while back and when the new part arrived, packed inside the box was everything that you needed to install the cooler! What a concept! All the seals, and even the coolant supply hoses was included!

Its always fun trying to find drivability issues reported by other people. Years ago my brother had a misfire/hesitation issue on a Peugeot 106 (a small European car with a 1.1 engine). I couldn't replicate the fault, and neither could my dad at first. He then had a brainwave and started mashing the accelerator like an inexperienced driver, that showed up the hesitation under harsh acceleration that we were subconsciously avoiding. Turns out it was the idle control/throttle position unit. One junkyard TBI unit later and it was happy!

The intermittent throttle loss is more than likely a bad TPS. Drove me nuts for a week until one time it happened. Just a little wear on the pedal hinge pin caused a side load sometimes. Save yourself a comeback and rebuild the whole pedal assembly instead of just the sensor.

Reason I was troubleshooting( its my truck, was just trying to stay out of the shop..sorry) was the engine would falter when accelerating. Wouldn't do it all the time. probably the oil in the HEUI system draining down, and with it being cold the oil is thicker and it is struggling to provide HP oil to fire the injectors, or the main oil pump is struggling to provide the HP pump with oil.
we have a farm truck that has an International 466 which is also a HEUI that does the same thing, we stick a magnetic heater to the oil pan and plug it in along with the block heater, otherwise it is almost impossible to start at -20C
