North Sentinel Island lies to the west of the other Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal. It is a small island with an area of only about 23 square miles (59.7 sq. km.). It is mostly covered by a forest that gives way to a narrow beach that encircles the island. The island is also surrounded by coral reefs and dark blue water rich with fish and other sea life. What makes North Sentinel Island different from other tropical islands is its unusual inhabitants, who we will discuss in this episode of The Infographics Show, “The Untouched Tribe - North Sentinel Island.”
Walking around except for some leaves, string fibers, and other decorations, the indigenous people of North Sentinel Island, the Sentinelese, have lived in almost complete isolation from the rest of the world for nearly 60,000 years. According to a documentary about North Sentinel Island, they are “thought to be direct descendants of the first humans who emerged from Africa.” They have been isolated for so long that the language they speak has been forgotten by the rest of the world. Another concern is that their extreme isolation has made them vulnerable to modern-day diseases. They do not have immunity to them and could become seriously ill or even die as a result of being exposed to them.

Sentinelese are the only people who survived 2004 Indian ocean tsunami by themselves .. When a chopper was sent to look for them they were spotted at high places and were quite enough in number to reckon that they know how to survive , when they could survive that deadly earthquake and tsunami they could survive anything that comes. They aren't untouched by outsiders, they are untouched by modern day civilization. Did you even pay attention to the video? There were multiple encounters with them over the years. They have been observed time and time again. There are clearly no farms on the island and they have been eating raw fish. They are violent because they attack everyone on sight. That isn't an oversimplification. Even if they were attacked before (which there is no evidence of) that doesn't mean they aren't violent for shooting arrows at everyone. You can say violence is necessary for their survival, but don't say they aren't violent.

Regardless of their primitive technology, they're human beings and therefore smarter/more aware than we give tehm credit. In 1880 they tried this with the sentenalese, caught six individuals, two elders and four children. The two elders grew sick and died in the british's care, so they gave the children gifts and sent them home, so the Sentenalese's impression of outsiders probably came from the testimony of these four children who were kidnapped and probably watched their granparents die in the process.
It's likely the sentenalese have a long held belief that outsiders only want to take them from their home and kill them as a result, would explain the hostility.

Actually the body of one of the fishermen killed was retrieved by the Indian navy...The Indian navy landed a chopper on the Island when they saw 2 piles of sand on the beach which appeared like graves....Once they landed the chopper a group of sentinelese numbering around 50 came running towards them with bows,spears & axes...The pilot suddenly took the chopper & slowly landed it along the beach 1.5 kms away from the graves as a diversion tactics....The tribes got diverted & started running towards the chopper....Once they are at a significant distance the pilot quickly took the chopper & landed it near the graves & retrieved a body.....By that time the tribes came near the graves & the navy pulled back from the island....Once the body reached the mainland the navy was assigned to retrieve the second body & they tried to use the same tactics again but failed as the tribes improvise their tactics & split into two groups....One group look after the grave & the other go after the landed chopper....So the mission was aborted as using force against the tribes were not an option

what pisses me off is that now these people are getting a lot of attention just because some guy got killed while being aware of the illegality of his actions. I think the rest of the world should just go on with their lives and just avoid bothering them.
It wasn't just illegal it was deeply immoral. He set out with the deliberate intention of destroying their way of life (that's what missionary work is) and if he spread diseases to the island that the tribes have no immunity to then he may very well have succeeded in destroying them.

Ok, to be fair this is 100% our fault that they are so isolationist. in the very very early 1900s a missionary went on to the island but he ended up kidnapping several of their children and elders. The elders all died because of sickness and the 'missionary' did... things... to the children while also documenting them like animals. He eventually let the children go back and I'm sure they told their tribe all about this, and how the elders died. No wonder they hate outsiders after being kidnapped and dying.
It's no one person's fault. No matter what that missionary person did, those fishermen did not have to die. Blood is on the individuals, and the culture of violence doesn't help. I mean, warning with arrows is pretty evil. It's similar to warning someone to get off my property by shooting them instead of using words first.
