- Civilization 6 is back with a brand new DLC expansion the frontier pass! This adds two new civs Gran Colombia and Maya. Along with this we also got the very fun brand new apocalypse game mode which adds soothsayers who are summoners of natural disasters at an unnatural rate. This allows for some unique situations when combined with an infinite meteors exploit created by the existence of soothsayers! You see when you combine soothsayers with the great bath you end up with a city that can produce more faith than multiple entire empires put together. And what better thing to do with all that faith than go for an easy religous victory or even better summon infinite meteors onto enemy cities and watch them all melt away in natural disasters. All of these exploits aside gran colombia is already one of the most overpowered civs in the game with the ability to teleport armies around the map with incredible speed.

If you saw year after year the rivers overflow then do no damage to only your city, you would start to believe in a higher power as well.
It wasn't really faith though that shaped the Egyptian empire.....is was the fertile lands that the flooding left behind.....the Roman Empire for example shipped its entire grain supply from the Nile floodbasins

@@airiakizuki5592 it had the mitigating flood functionality from the beginning, and it is no glitch. The wonder is so ridiculously bad, because you won't be able to build it in higher difficulties, because it is *so* early in the game. It's basically just a bonus for the AI

They probably make the exploit on purpose so people buy the dlc to have an advantage, it happens on moba games like smite, new gods tend to be unbalanced for a month to then be nerfed

You're essentially a QA tester with a youtube channel. The only difference between you and a internal one is you didn't sign a NDA. Whether or not they fix the bugs is no different, as it's still up to the devs.

Can confirm. I'm a QA tester. It's great: we poke software, the software explodes, and we tell the devs about how broken their software is.

IDK how Spiff's rates compare to a QA's, but note that his feedback cycle is very long. A normal tester gets a dev build, finds something, and directly emails the devs, possibly with logs because it's a dev build. Spiff gets a prerelease build and makes a video a week later.
Look at the tone of Spiff's videos. Its all about how fun it is to mess with these games. There is a subtext that cleverness and creativity is highly rewarding in finding these exploits.

I love how the promotional material for this DLC pass mentioned like NOTHING about the apocalypse mode. Dude that is, the main selling point for me. Thats what i wanted from civ, a bit more oompf, a bit more *tiny* fantasy. Not elves, but just, you know, some mythical insanity injected into the game, like true cataclysms that can happen, and a faith unit that justifies my constant rush for Astrology turn 1 is a great thing too xD
I will DEFINETLY mod the Soothsayers to cost 1000 faith though (because when you're a religious civ, getting hundreds of faith a turn isnt hard lategame. 50 faith as the default cost is RIDICULOUSLY broken xD
If it costs 50 at first, every next one will cost 50 more than the last
sure, you could mod them to cost 1000 faith, but why do that when you can make them cost 1 and just spam them out to the point where you could end another civ's existence via meteors in only a few turns

Gran Colombia is definitely an intresting civ to play as, yet out of all the things this civ offers personally I favor their lovely themes especially the medieval/renaissance era theme.

Play as Mother Russia. They are immune to blizzard, and enemies take double damage from blizzard in your territory (which is, quite frankly, a death sentence: it deal at least 80 damage), and of course they have a tundra bias for an easy access to blizzards. For your faith production, the Aurora dance pantheon provide 1 faith per adjacent tundra tile to your holy site.
In addition, Liang (a governor) have a bonus that make the city immune to damage from the environment, which is perfect if you want to artificially trigger volcano eruptions. Those are the only disasters that provide science.

Try this strat with Egypt. If I remember right their leader abilities means they do not get damaged from floods. Meaning you don’t need the great bath and you gain food or production as well as faith.
It's the Great Bath that gives the faith bonus if a tile gets flooded though, but I get what you mean.

Back when the "Mongol Horde" strategy for Civ 1 was exposed, the game was hilariously broken for almost a year before Civ 2 was released. (at least, I thought it was hilarious to have a spearman show up and demand the technology for gunpowder, and then I kill it with my mechanized infantry. In 25 AD.)

Rather than saying that you have something crazy to show us but not really explaining how it works until the end, this time you have explained up front all the pieces and how they work together. I prefer that theory-first approach to explaining things - it makes it much easier to understand and appreciate what is happening when you then demonstrate how it works in practise. Im playing a game at the moment with apocalypse mode active at the the beginning of a bunch of wildfires in my city's but this actually works to my advantage because does after each fire the food and productivity level of each tile it affected this aloud me to get crazy productivity in my city catapulting me way ahead of the ai it is hilarious

As a born and raised resident of Florida, Spiff saying "there's a Category 4 hurricane off our coastline, that's a spooky boy actually" actually made me laugh; just in my lifetime we've dealt with the effects of hurricanes roughly 132 times, sometimes spanning a week or so each. Since 2004 we've had 8 storms of Category 3 or higher (or who brought Category 3 or higher windspeeds since that's how they classify them) actually make landfall.
I find it funny how our state is known for three things essentially: Florida Man memes, Hurricanes and Disney World lol

I played an Apocalypse game mode my governor that prevents natural disasters was protecting my capital. A Spy disarmed my governor and the same turn a comet landed on my capital.
