- Here's a quick peak into one of my classes at Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA last week. In this video, we talk about 2 ways to cover distance, along with what types of attacks go with each.
The example of me bridging is from my upcoming course: "The Ultimate Short Fighter's Guide".

I'm a hobbyist Muay Thai guy and along with Sylvie, your channel is the absolute best on CZcams for explaining fundamentals and providing technique instructions that can actually be utilized during sparring. Appreciate the channel.

Would be awesome mate if you can do a video on how you would get in and land punches with out getting teeped or low kicked to oblivion, I know feints, false entries and angles help but would love to see what you do specifically even on patron, cheers mate

You should always fight from a closed distance, and feel how you are close even when you are apart. It's 10x more difficult to block punches from close distance from your opponents perspective. Also if you fear strikes too much, you're just going to get hit. This is why timing is everything, and mastering how logical sequences of attacks produce which reactions in your opponent so you can master predicting movement, then immediately close the distance. Being unafraid to close the distance is a major advantage. But closing the distance is only valuable when you are already striking. The best time to strike is during the attack of your opponent. Meaning you have them reacting to you, in other words. They are trying to swat a fly and you are landing on them. That is the difference. Their attempt to swat the fly earns them a black eye. Thats what it means to close distance. Mike tyson ends up hip to hip with his opponents, and that's why he had so many knockouts.
Great video and explanation on bridging. I tend to always just shuffle in. Going to try out bridging in my sparring sessions now. Looking forward to your upcoming course since I'm almost always the shorter person in my gym.
