Damn this is depressing. NOTHING like the PMG. Why can't Metheny get some awesome musicians and reform his "Group"? This doesn't even have the energy of the past. He's stlll talented & has his skills I wonder if he is just being cheap not getting a solid group together anymore. This performance lacks any energy & swag that the PMG had. Really sad.
Metheny's music is everchanging, PMG is the past (unfortunately), but he is able to renew constantly, that's why he is one of the best - if not THE best - jazz guitarist nowadays.
@@zoltan_dudas I hear ya but Menthey COULD put together an entirely new PMG IF he wanted to. With top musicians. He's been saving money doing all the various projects he has. All said & done it's a business more so than about "the music". He gained his notoriety & fame years ago, became a huge success, and now he does whatever he wants. It's not about pleasing the fans anymore or "being the best" he can. Saying it's "the past" is just an excuse really. Sad for fans really. Most musicians do this. Even the past members of Led Zeppelin & many others. The fame goes to their head and providing the best possible music, and all the previous fans take a backseat. And that is really a shame. Imho.
