- Kai (Keanu Reeves) takes on the Kirin-a mythical horned beast-with just a sword.
Keanu Reeves stars in the 3D action-adventure epic 47 Ronin. After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and reclaim their honor. This band of ronin must seek help from Kai (Reeves)-an enslaved half-breed they once rejected-in their ultimate fight for redemption in a savage world of mythic and wondrous terrors. Kai becomes their most deadly weapon and the heroic inspiration for these outnumbered warriors to confront their enemy and seize eternity.

If only he had a pencil....this movie would be over in 4 minutes.
So damn true
cryptghost I wonder how many man in a bar he can kill?
@@beanpo2456 all of them, except the bartender, coz he's the man who always gave him free drinks 😂
cryptghost not just a pencil a f**kin’ pencil....
lol. epic
This guy's character doesn't change, even his voice tone and facial expression. He is so feared by many in his movies!
"I'd rather have been killed by that beast...But ill still take credit for your kill."
Hiroyuki Sanada is one of my favorite actors since I watched the Twilight Samurai. I was just blown away by his performance in the Last Samurai as well.
Cool Fact: According to Japanese mythology, the appearance of a Kirin is said to herald the death or passing of a ruler. So this scene wasn't just a nifty action piece showing off Kai's skills - it was also foreshadowing the events to come.
Kirin is some really good Beer ay
Thanks for the fun fact. Out of curiosity is there any difference between a Chinese kirin and a Japanese one or did the Japanese just copy paste the Chinese one? Also where did you learn this I'm interested in learning more
@@applepie4287 I looked up "Qirin" on wikipedia, 'cuz I wanted to see if the monster design was something they made up just for the movie. Turns out it's reasonably close to ancient drawings. As for Japanese vs Chinese... when you go far enough back, it's the same civilization & myths.
Am nobody, thanks.

I really like this movie. Critics thought it was horrible. I think it even won a Razzie award.
But it’s got a great story and it’s fantasy. It has action, love, intrigue.
I agree. Those same critics give Amy Schumer 100% on Rotten Tomatos.. so, there's that.
Nothing Left Lol! Yes, there’s that.
Lol thank you. "Theses that..." I fixed it. Need more "slleeeeppx" 😉
I have seen it many times and enjoy it each and every time. The Man of Tai Chi is another one of his movies that never took off but is amazing
Roger Taylor I’ve never seen that one I’ll have to check it out

@Jaime Alonzo and hustle ! You got it !
I watched the movie several times becoz of Keanu Reeves...a guy who got to be an angel in flesh...a kind human...I am not a fan of him as a celebrity.., I am a fan of his good deeds...his humility and humbleness...
I love how they just say ''Keanu Reeves'' like it's something that he does on a daily basis lmao

I always love how Lord Asano smiles when Kai tracks the Kirin. He's so proud of him.
My sons names are 凯 and 麒麟, I clicked because it says Kirin, Japanese for 麒麟, then I saw 凯 in your comment, very interesting. Happy 2023!
Their leader,at the end,who observed carefully Kai's hands and saw the blood of the beast in his hands, understood what really happened.
Lol thanks for the insight!
i agree that was the coolest part of this scene. i'm really happy the uploader chose to clip right afterwards
You are the reason multiple choice questions exist
You need a job in narration.
I thought this was a part two to that movie...my heart skipped a beat, whew.
I feel like there should be a billion little white bobble-head ghosts sitting in the trees and everywhere else. And 3 very large white wolves.
I used to battle Kirin regularly. Now I'm a craft beer snob.
I like the way Keanu runs.
This movie is so good until they all die
Keanu is like 45 in this film , he age very slowly.
By the way if monster new that this is John Wick, it will run away before all starts
A A Koch, omg. I love him in John Wick🥰🥰

He was 49 in this.
I'm convinced Keanu is the Count of Saint Germain.
My favorite is "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" but the last one i watched was "47 Ronin" ... both great movies!
This is a great movie. Another Reeves classic. Check out Shintaro Katsu as Zatoichi the Blind Swordsman. Circa 1959 I think. It's great for that era.

I battle a Kirin beer now and again at the sushi place.
Samurai showing cold indifference to someone that helped them against something or someone without thanking them is one of the most dishonorable things ever.
A dishonor to Bushido is a cause for death
True im looking for comments talking about that, but everyone making cringe jokes in the comments. Brainless comments everywhere
Humanly dishonored
They are indifferent to foreigners, samurai or not.
@@Crozeph1 Kai was a half-breed, which made him in the eyes of most Japanese people an "abomination" because a person born from a mixed marriage was looked down upon for a very long time by anybody and everybody.

Thanks.. for are long have you been my fan
To date this will be the best film were ever made. 47 Ronin. #Respect.
I was fortunate enpough to be able to spend a week in Toyko in the 90s and I visited the shrine dedicated to the 47 Ronin. I didn't have a guide and couldn't read Japanese but it seemed to me to be an honor to be there, just remembering them. I don't think the creature was part of the story tho.
Love this movie. It's great entertainment to just get lost in. It IS based on a true story, minus the monsters & witchcraft. Historical accuracy isn't important in this kind of movie. It is a fantasy, so just let it be what it is!
pizzaman5169 seems dumb af
@@ferise1 What's your trouble, Bubble ?? Didn't like the movie ??
@@pizzaman5169 ..."seems dumb af" most Japanese in Japan felt the same way ferise1 does as expressed in very poor box office sales. And that was the prelude to world wide poor box offices declaring this version of 47 Ronin a Hollywood flop. You're in the minority of people who did enjoy this version, but not enough to make it box office success. If this was a total fiction instead of being based on a Japanese beloved historical event it might have done better. For example, if it was a total fiction crafted from a non-Japanese perspective ( the Yokai was expressed in non-Japanese terms) the final scene of the Ronin committing seppuku could be avoided. From what I heard that was the most unsettling scene for most non-Japanese. A happy ending just might have made this version a box office success
@@normanlee6609 It's just a movie. Of course there is a lot of fantasy, magic & demons in a movie like this. There are thousands of movies made just like this & it's been going on for decades. They take a true story & make a movie out of it & they use "poetic license" of sorts to embellish the story to make it more interesting because using just the true story would be boring. Have you seen the original B&W 1941 version & also a 1994 version??
People need to learn to just sit & watch a movie, any movie, strictly for enjoyment & when they've watched, they either like it or they don't. Picking up on real mistakes, like like someone in a scene wearing sneakers or a cowboy hat. When there is fantasy, just sit back & enjoy it. Movies like Avatar or Star Wars are fantasy, but nearly everyone liked them. In essence, watch what you like because your own opinion is all that matters.
@@pizzaman5169 ....yes, I have the pleasure of seeing both the AD1941 and the AD1994 versions and enjoyed both. Both express the Japanese mindset well. So you think they're boring? If you personally think so.....OK. As you enjoyed the 2013 version there are those who do not share your opinion. And you are correct that one's own opinion is all that matters which is why I wonder why you need to justify why you enjoy this movie and criticize others who disagree with you, whatever their individual criteria is. If you are truly secure in your opinion then as you claim opposing opinions are irrelevant. Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations yields Truth and Beauty.

Some Japanese soldiers in this scene are confused with China and Mongolia.
It is a hybrid warrior whose costume is China and weapons are Japan. The manner is also strange ...
This movie is entertainment and should not be seen as a Japanese history.
hasta kas huvas la pelicula de samuri de ahora, eso directores no saben de historia
Well, Japan's society comes from China, so we're pretty sure it's historical.
@@tekmon2640
Yes, of course, much of Japanese culture is based on technology from the continent.
I am Japanese and have learned a lot of history. But the soldiers in this movie are wrong.
The soldier's leather and cloth armor in this movie is likely modeled after those used in the Mongolian Empire.
This form of leather and cloth armor is not used in medieval Japan.
@@tekmon2640 ...which is one of many reasons this movie is bad. The legend of the 47 Ronin is historical but the visual details are an American interpretation of what they think is Japanese. This movie is a American effort of a live action sword/fantasy anime with a slight reference to the actual historical events.
